Senior National Conference leader Mustafa Kamal on Saturday stoked a controversy saying Kashmir will be independent as neither India nor Pakistan loves the people of the Valley. Kashmir (Balti, Gojri, Poonchi/Chibhali, Dogri: कश्मीर; Kashmiri: कॅशीर, کٔشِیر; Ladakhi: ཀཤམིར; Uyghur: كەشمىر; Shina: کشمیر) is the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent. Until the mid-19th century, the term Kashmir geographically denoted only the valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal mountain range. Today Kashmir denotes a larger area that includes the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir (the Kashmir valley, Jammu and Ladakh), the Pakistani-administered Gilgit–Baltistan and the Azad Kashmir provinces, and the Chinese-administered regions of Aksai Chin and Trans-Karakoram Tract.
In the first half of the first millennium, the Kashmir region became an important center of Hinduism and later of Buddhism; later still, in the ninth century, Kashmir Shaivism arose. In 1349, Shah Mir became the first Muslim ruler of Kashmir and inaugurated the Salatin-i-Kashmir or Swati dynasty. For the next five centuries, Muslim monarchs ruled Kashmir, including the Mughals, who ruled from 1526 until 1751, then the Afghan Durrani Empire that ruled from 1747 until 1820. That year, the Sikhs under Ranjit Singh, annexed Kashmir. In 1846, upon the purchase of the region from the British under the Treaty of Amritsar, the Dogras—under Gulab Singh—became the new rulers. Dogra Rule, under the paramountcy (or tutelage) of the British Crown, lasted until 1947, when the former princely state became a disputed territory, now administered by three countries: India, Pakistan, and the People's Republic of China.

Kashmir is also known as Paradise of India due to its heart winning natural beauties, one of the famous tourist destination for Indians & foreigners who wants to play with snow. Gulmarg is skiing hub for Indians, it is equally famous for golf and godola in Gumarg is the highest cable car ride in Asia, which goes up to 14,000 feet height.
I was in 14 day skiing course at IISM gulmarg, It was a fantastic experience.

Kashmir India Travel Video Diary & Guides - part 5. This is my day 5th & 6th of Gulmarg Kashmir. You will see student's life at Indian Institute of Mountaineering & skiing hostel, beautiful snowy landscape, tasty & spicy Kashmiri food, Fun with boys in hostel and many more.
Kashmir is also known as Paradise of India due to its heart winning natural beauties, one of the famous tourist destination for Indians & foreigners who wants to play with snow. Gulmarg is skiing hub for Indians, it is equally famous for golf and godola in Gumarg is the highest cable car ride in Asia, which goes up to 14,000 feet height.
I was in 14 day skiing course at IISM gulmarg, It was a fantastic experience.

Kashmir Travel Video Diary & Guides - Part 2 is about my journey to Gulmarg, Kashmir via Srinagar from Jammu by road. My destination was Indian institute of skiing and mountaineering (IISM). A very scary & hungry travel time which took me over 40 hours to reach due to snow fall and other local authorities rules and regulation, yet it was very fun and interesting.
I took the bus for Jammu at 9:30 PM on 18th evening and the all the bus heading to Srinagar kashmir were stopped at end of Jammu city after half an hour of running by Kashmir police for safety and security purpose all night in the highway. We stayed there till 5 AM in the morning then bus started running. And in the way we got caught by rainfall and snow fall which made a huge traffic jam and we had stop in many places for hours. The general travel time from Jammu to Srinagar is 7-8 hours which took over 30 hours to reach. As the bus was dropping at Srinagar while city would have been sleeping so I chose to go with person I got introduced in bus....and next day I reached to Gulmarg, my destiny, Indian Institute of skiing & mountaineering around 1 PM . A very long journey but a very beautiful journey. The beautiful scenery, first time snow falling memory, night walk in unknown kashmir, getting lost in snow.. all were my favorite times.

With ISIS and Pakistani flags being repeatedly displayed in Kashmir, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah on Friday (July 24) said it was an expression of "anger" and "frustration" by the youth who want to "wake up the nation". The former Chief Minister said "none of us has bothered about them" and there is no way for them to express themselves other than displaying such flags. "It is actually the frustration and anger in the youth. Nothing is being done for them. They can't show their anger by any other method except by putting these flags up," Abdullah told reporters when asked about the frequent hoisting of ISIS and other controversial flags during protests in Kashmir. "They (youth) want to wake up the nation that 'think of us'. None of us has bothered about them. That is the tragedy of it," said the NC chief whose party was in power in the state from 2009 to the last year-end.
Necessary measures need to be taken to "get these boys back into the national mainstream", he said, adding, "You have to look at the what is pinching them." At the same time, he said that borders between India and Pakistan can never be changed as referred to a series of grenade attacks carried out by militants in Srinagar today. "They (militants) are attacking towers. What is attacking a tower going to do? Do you think that will change anything. I am absolutely clear the border will never change, whatever you may do. The border is not going to change," Abdullah said after a meeting of his faction of the state's Cricket Association. Invoking former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he advocated friendly relations with Pakistan. "What must be done is friendship between the two countries. It is essential for survival of Kashmir and when I say Kashmir, it means Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

Sonamarg, Srinagar, Kashmir, India: Sonamarg or "Meadow of Gold" is a popular tourist attraction and hill station in Ganderbal district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sonamarg is situated at the bank of Nallah Sindh, 87 km north-east from Srinagar and at an altitude of 2800 metres above sea level. The journey from Srinagar to Sonamarg by car along Srinagar-Ladakh Road or National Highway 1D is spectacular. The journey is upwards of sixty miles long valley and deep rock-girt gorge to open grassy meadow land and village-dotted slopes. Nallah Sindh, the largest tributary of the Jehlum River will be your companion along the entire journey.

Krishnasar Lake, Sonamarg - Located at a height of 3801 m above sea level, Krishnasar Lake is one of the most mesmerizing lakes in Sonamarg. Surrounded by dense alpines, the place offers cool and pleasant atmosphere. The lake is popular for trout fishing while people also enjoy other water activities here.
Thajiwas Glacier, Sonamarg - Sonamarg offer many adventurous routes with amazing green water & frozen lakes around and Thajiwas glacier is a one such major tourist attraction in the region. Located 7 km from Sonamarg, it is an ideal spot for enjoying a sledge ride on the snow even in mid-summer. The nearby area is perfect camping site too.
Nilagrad River, Sonamarg - Situated 6 km from Sonamarg is the Nilagrad River, a major attraction known for its reddish water. According to the locals, the water has curative power of various diseases and many people visit this place every Sunday to bath in the river.
Vishansar Lake, Sonamarg - Perched at a height of 3710 m above sea level, Vishansar Lake lies around 35 km from Shitkadi, Sonmarg. With a length of a kilometre and a width of 0.6 km, this charming lake is among the visitor’s delight in Sonmarg. The spectacular surrounding with snow covered mountains and meadows around with alpine flowers make it a haven for trekkers and adventure lovers. Besides, the lake is home to different species of fishes.
Zoji-La Pass, Sonamarg - About 20 km east of Sonamarg is Zoji-la pass, the gateway to the Ladakh plateau. Situated at a height of about 3,528 m above sea level, the pass connects Kashmir Valley to Ladakh, Kashmir Valley to its south and Ladakh to its North. It is an ideal spot to enjoy the scenic beauty.
