"You’ve been filing FAA flight plans for years. But one day you find yourself having to file an ICAO flight plan. What do you do?! Relax! Its pretty simple and not all that unlike what you’ve already been doing.
So, what is ICAO anyway? It is the International Civil Aviation Organization and its actually part of the United Nations. The ICAO sets the standards that make international travel relatively seemless. In recent years, the FAA has been adopting more ICAO standards in an effort to bring the United States closer to the global standards of air travel, and the use of the ICAO flight plan is no exception. Use of an ICAO flight plan is currently required whenever the flight will enter international airspace; the flight will enter RVSM, the flight expects services based on ADS-B; or the flight includes routing based on Performance Based Navigation or PBN.
The differences between an ICAO flight plan and an FAA flight plan are pretty small, though it does require some close attention to make sure you’ve got the details correct. Some items are the same as they’ve always been: aircraft ID or tail number; aircraft type, fuel endurance, and number of people on board. Other items will be new such as a Wake Turbulence category, and “Type of Flight.” The most interesting change though is found in the equipment suffixes box, box 10. The ICAO codes used to denote the type of equipment on board the aircraft are different than the codes used by the FAA. Whereas the FAA established a single letter to determine entire avionics packages, the ICAO system lets you pick and choose which equipment you have, and the capabilities of your avionics. For example, if you have a standard avionics package including a standard vhf radio, a VOR, and an ILS receiver, you would start your equipment line with “S”. If you also had an IFR approved GPS on board, you would add the letter “G”. If you are able to accept PBN routes and procedures you would add the letter “R.” PBN is a new concept that encompasses both Area Navigation, RNAV, and Required Navigation Performance (RNP). If you are using RNAV or RNP for any phase of the flight, this code applies to you.
So far, your equipment code will read S-G-R.
To finish up box 10, you must list your transponder equipment code on the right hand side of box 10, referred to as box 10b. If you have a mode C transponder, just put a “C” in the box. If you have a mode S, there are 7 different codes for a mode S transponder. Your best bet is to check with the user guide for your particular model to find out which code applies.”
There is one more information box related to equipment on the ICAO flight plan form; the “Other Information” box, box 18. Now, if you previously listed your flight as PBN capable in Box 10 with the “R” designation, that only notified ATC that you’re equipment is PBN approved. Since PBN describes many different types of equipment, must specify what you are equipped with in box 18. Most piston powered GA aircraft will include PBN/B2C2D2” in Box 18. The “B” denotes RNAV 5 capability, “C” denotes RNAV 2 capability, and “D” denotes RNAV 1 capability. By listing this code, you are telling ATC that you are capable of handling RNAV based procedures for the enroute structure and terminal procedures.
For specific help with your ICAO flight plan, please contact the AOPA Pilot Information Center at 1-800-USA-AOPA"

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone and also referred to as an unpiloted aerial vehicle and a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. ICAO classify unmanned aircraft into two types under Circular 328 AN/190
Autonomous aircraft – currently considered unsuitable for regulation due to legal and liability issues
Remotely piloted aircraft – subject to civil regulation under ICAO and under the relevant national aviation authority
The typical launch and recovery method of an unmanned aircraft is by the function of an automatic system or an external operator on the ground. Historically, UAVs were simple remotely piloted aircraft, but autonomous control is increasingly being employed.not in citation given]. The Nazi-German V-1 flying bomb flew autonomously powered by a pulsejet.
They are usually deployed for military and special operation applications, but also used in a growing number of civil applications, such as policing and firefighting, and nonmilitary security work, such as inspection of power or pipelines. UAVs are often preferred for missions that are too "dull, dirty or dangerous"for manned aircraft.

World tourism day is celebrated in Tehran, hosting Iran's top government officials.
The efforts of individuals and institutions with outstanding contributions to tourism industry were appreciated by granting them awards from Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Organization. According to International Civil Aviation Organization, Iran has the safest airspace in Middle East, and has recently been one of the 10 top tourist destinations because of its high climate variety and its not-so-expensive services.

The IOM Health and Humanitarian Border Management (HHBM) project currently in Phase II of operations, was initially begun on 17 November 2014 to monitor the Exit and Entry Health Screening (EEHS) SOP at Lungi International Airport (FNA) in partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Port Health, the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, the Sierra Leone Airport Authority and the International Security Advisory Team. Since that time it has achieved 100% coverage across all UN and commercial flights to Sierra Leone and as of June 2015 has screened over 60,000 passengers. The Airport project team of 25 monitors and support staff which works in shifts 24/7 has also developed a training curriculum for Airport personnel, a pocket guide on the EEHS SOP and trained over 300 Immigration, Police and Health personnel.
IOM’s mobile training teams have also conducted Infection Prevention and Control training for IOM Airport monitors as well as Airport personnel.
In January, February and again in April, IOM implemented Emergency Simulation Exercises to test and improve the entry and exit health screening process and general health security throughout the Airport by using Ebola survivors employed at IOM’s National Ebola Training Academy in Freetown to act out preplanned emergency scenarios. This project and related activities ensure that the commercial viability of the Airport- an indispensable lifeline for Sierra Leone- remains intact despite the epidemic.
Since 1 June 2015, HHBM project activities have rapidly expanded to land borders in Kambia and Bombali on the Guinea border, seaports in Freetown, and inter-district boundaries inside Sierra Leone between Kambia and Port Loko, the last major hotspots in the country.
In support of the Government of Sierra Leone’s recently announced Operation Northern Push, IOM has scaled up activities in Kambia district in a push to get to zero new Ebola cases by early July.

Responding to recent incidents in which airliners vanished, U.S. accident investigators recommended Thursday that all passenger planes making long flights over water carry improved technology that will allow them to be found more readily in the event of a crash.
Prompted in part by the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 and its 239 passengers and crew last March, the National Transportation Safety Board said one way that could be accomplished is with tamper-resistant transmitters that send a plane's location minute by minute via satellite.
It also asked that the government require that planes carry low-frequency underwater beacons whose signals are more easily detected by search vessels.
And it wants them to have longer-lasting batteries that can function for at least 90 days after a crash, instead of the 30 days currently required.
The board also asked the government to require that planes be equipped with cockpit video recorders, and that all of the planes' recorders - including the flight data and voice recorders known as "black boxes" - be designed so they cannot be disabled by the flight crew.
But even with such technologies, black boxes trapped under thousands of feet of water can be difficult to find and retrieve. The board suggested that black boxes could be made ejectable, so they would float on the surface with a locator beacon.
Another possibility would be to require that planes, just before crashing, transmit crucial data, including airspeed, altitude, pitch and whether the engines were operating.
While the board said the technology is available, cost may be a barrier to its recommendations. Missing planes are rare, and none of the recent ocean crashes in which planes were hard to find involved U.S. airliners.
The Federal Aviation Administration often has a hard time justifying new regulations unless it can show that the value of saved lives outweighs the cost to the industry.
The board's recommendations also far exceed industry-backed recommendations that are expected to be debated next month at a meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization, a United Nations agency, in Montreal.
