Birds (class Aves) are a group of endothermic vertebrates, characterised by feathers, a beak with no teeth, the laying of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a lightweight but strong skeleton. Birds live worldwide and range in size from the 5 cm (2 in) bee hummingbird to the 2.75 m (9 ft) ostrich. They rank as the class of tetrapods with the most living species, at approximately ten thousand, with more than half of these being passerines, sometimes known as perching birds or, less accurately, as songbirds.
The fossil record indicates that birds are the last surviving dinosaurs, having evolved from feathered ancestors within the theropod group of saurischian dinosaurs. True birds first appeared during the Cretaceous period, around 100 million years ago, and the last common ancestor is estimated to have lived about 95 million years ago. DNA-based evidence finds that birds radiated extensively around the time of the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event that killed off the non-avian dinosaurs. Birds in South America survived this event and then migrated to other parts of the world via multiple land bridges while diversifying during periods of global cooling. Primitive bird-like "stem-birds" that lie outside class Aves proper, in the group Avialae, have been found dating back to the mid-Jurassic period. Many of these early stem-birds, such as Archaeopteryx, were not yet capable of fully powered flight, and many retained primitive characteristics like toothy jaws in place of beaks and long bony tails.
Pheasant shooting is the sport of game shooting and is most popular in the United Kingdom but is practiced in other parts of the world. Shooting of game birds is carried out using a shotgun, most often 12 and 20 bore or a .410, often on land managed by a gamekeeper.
Usually seen as a sport practiced by the wealthy, the sport is popular across all walks of life. The pheasant shooting season in the UK runs 1 October to 1 February. Game shooting is defined in law by the Game Act of 1831
The golden pheasant or Chinese pheasant, (Chrysolophus pictus) is a gamebird of the order Galliformes (gallinaceous birds) and the family Phasianidae (pheasants). It is native to forests in mountainous areas of western China, but feral populations have been established in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Falkland Islands, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. In England they may be found in East Anglia in the dense forest landscape of the Breckland as well as Tresco on the Isles of Scilly.
The adult male is 90–105 cm in length, its tail accounting for two-thirds of the total length. It is unmistakable with its golden crest and rump and bright red body. The deep orange "cape" can be spread in display, appearing as an alternating black and orange fan that covers all of the face except its bright yellow eye with a pinpoint black pupil.
Males have a golden-yellow crest with a hint of red at the tip. The face, throat, chin, and the sides of neck are rusty tan. The wattles and orbital skin are both yellow in colour, and the ruff or cape is light orange. The upper back is green and the rest of the back and rump is golden-yellow. The tertiaries are blue whereas the scapulars are dark red. Other characteristics of the male plumage are the central tail feathers, black spotted with cinnamon, as well as the tip of the tail being a cinnamon buff. The upper tail coverts are the same colour as the central tail feathers. The male also has a scarlet breast, and scarlet and light chestnut flanks and underparts. Lower legs and feet are a dull yellow.

Your first consideration when it comes to selecting a pellet gun to use for hunting game ought to be the caliber that you want to have. Pellet guns generally come in four calibers: .177 .20 .22 .25 Most pellet guns that are used in hunting are either .177 or .22 caliber, so we’re going to focus on those. There is a rule of thumb among air rifle hunters, “.177 for feathers, .22 for fur,” meaning that if you’re hunting birds primarily, you should be using a .177, and a .22 is better for squirrels and rabbits. There are exceptions, like the Winchester 1000 Wood Break Barrel, which is a .177 but certainly powerful enough for rabbits and even small coyotes. But the fur/feather mantra is still a decent guide. As far as power goes, there are a wide range of options. The pellets that you deci...

http://www.outdoorohio.com/ Join three beautiful young sisters as they join a special ladies-only pheasant hunt at the Broken Bird Gun Club in southern Hancock County. The day was incredibly windy, and you'll be able to tell, but I think we told a nice story for the Hancock County Chapter of Pheasants Forever. Heading off the comments, I know the girls didn't use "bullets" as the titles implies, but rather shot. I get it. But it was a catchy title and sounded better than "buckshot", which was also wrong. Trust me - I labored over the title longer than I labored over the video. But at some point, I got over it. ------------------------------------------- Music licensed by SmartSound http://www.smartsound.com/support/licenseinfo Title: Boughs Of Heather (SS_62101) Album: Natural ...
This bird is a cross between a Swinhoe Pheasant and a Golden Pheasant. He is a beautiful, and fertile Male. He lives in a massive aviary with other Male pheasants so will not breed. This is an unusual cross as far as I'm aware. The Pheasant at the end of the clip is a Golden Pheasant.

Although natural sounds are all around us on a daily basis, we tend to ignore them when we experience our busy routines. To raise awareness of the tonal beauty of nature, music producer Wu Judy Chin-tai has dedicated herself to preserving the native sounds of Taiwan, including birds chirping, insects hissing, frogs croaking, ocean waves, aboriginal singing, etc. Taking a break to bask in the vibrations of nature is a healthy remedy to reduce stress. These precious sounds also remind us to protect our environment and to adopt a sustainable living approach towards life. Tracklist (You can get it on iTunes) : 01.
