Mainz
Mainz (/maɪnts/; German: [maɪ̯nt͡s]; Latin: Mogontiacum, French: Mayence) is the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. It was the capital of the Electorate of Mainz at the time of the Holy Roman Empire. In antiquity Mainz was a Roman fort city which commanded the west bank of the Rhine and formed part of the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire; it was founded as a military post by the Romans in the late 1st century BC and became the provincial capital of Germania Superior. The city is located on the river Rhine at its confluence with the Main opposite Wiesbaden, in the western part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main; in the modern age, Frankfurt shares much of its regional importance.
The city is famous as the home of the invention of the movable-type printing press, as the first books printed using movable type were manufactured in Mainz by Gutenberg in the early 1450s. Until the twentieth century, Mainz was usually referred to in English by its French name: Mayence.

Mainz is a city in Germany near Wiesbaden and thereby Frankfurt. Located on the west bank of the Rhine River it is the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Mainz has a population of about 218,000 (2023) and is known for being the birthplace of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable-type printing press. On this tour we start in the old town, walk past the Mainz Cathedral, founded in 975 AD, is a prominent landmark. The city is also famous for its annual Mainz Carnival, one of the largest in Germany where we also visit the carnival fountain. At last we go uphill near the Drususstein for a view over Mainz. Der 1. FSV Mainz 05 nutzt die kommende Länderspielpause zu einem Testspiel gegen den Zweitligisten SV Darmstadt 98. Die Partie gegen die Lilien findet am Mittwoch, 4. September um 14 Uhr im Bruchwegstadion statt.
Zum Testspiel öffnet Mainz 05 für die Fans die Haupttribüne des Bruchwegstadions. Die Eintrittskarten kosten einheitlich für alle Plätze 8 Euro (5 Euro ermäßigt) und sind ab 13 Uhr an den Tageskassen erhältlich. Kinder bis einschließlich 6 Jahre haben freien Eintritt und erhalten an den Tageskassen hierfür eine Schoßkarte. Das Bruchwegstadion öffnet am Spieltag um 13 Uhr.

Mainz is a city in Germany near Wiesbaden and thereby Frankfurt. Located on the west bank of the Rhine River it is the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Mainz has a population of about 218,000 (2023) and is known for being the birthplace of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable-type printing press.
On this tour we start in the old town, walk past the Mainz Cathedral, founded in 975 AD, is a prominent landmark. The city is also famous for its annual Mainz Carnival, one of the largest in Germany where we also visit the carnival fountain.

Mainz
Mainz (/maɪnts/; German: [maɪ̯nt͡s]; Latin: Mogontiacum, French: Mayence) is the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. It was the capital of the Electorate of Mainz at the time of the Holy Roman Empire. In antiquity Mainz was a Roman fort city which commanded the west bank of the Rhine and formed part of the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire; it was founded as a military post by the Romans in the late 1st century BC and became the provincial capital of Germania Superior. The city is located on the river Rhine at its confluence with the Main opposite Wiesbaden, in the western part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main; in the modern age, Frankfurt shares much of its regional importance.
The city is famous as the home of the invention of the movable-type printing press, as the first books printed using movable type were manufactured in Mainz by Gutenberg in the early 1450s. Until the twentieth century, Mainz was usually referred to in English by its French name: Mayence.
