Foucault is best known for his critical studies of social institutions, most notably psychiatry, social anthropology of medicine, the human sciences and the prison system, as well as for his work on the history of human sexuality. His writings on power, knowledge, and discourse have been widely influential in academic circles.
In the 1960s, he was associated with structuralism, a theoretical movement in social anthropology from which he later distanced himself. He also rejected the poststructuralist and postmodernist labels later attributed to him, preferring to classify his thought as a critical history of modernity rooted in Immanuel Kant. His project was particularly influenced by Nietzsche, his "genealogy of knowledge" being a direct allusion to Nietzsche's "genealogy of morality". In a late interview he definitively stated: "I am a Nietzschean."
Glenn Edward Lee Beck (born February 10, 1964) is an American conservativeradio host, vlogger, author, entrepreneur, political commentator and former television host. He hosts the Glenn Beck Program, a nationally syndicated talk-radio show that airs throughout the United States on Premiere Radio Networks. He formerly hosted the Glenn Beck television program, which ran from January 2006 to October 2008 on HLN and from January 2009 to June 2011 on the Fox News Channel. Beck has authored six New York Times–bestselling books. Beck is the founder and CEO of Mercury Radio Arts, a multimedia production company through which he produces content for radio, television, publishing, the stage, and the Internet. It was announced on April 6, 2011, that Beck would "transition off of his daily program" on Fox News later in the year but would team with Fox to "produce a slate of projects for FOX News Channel and FOX News' digital properties". Beck's last daily show on the network was June 30, 2011. In 2012, The Hollywood Reporter named Beck on its Digital Power Fifty list.

Racism, School Desegregation Laws and the Civil Rights Movement in the United States
The African-American Civil Rights Movement (1955--1968) refers to the social movements in the United States aimed at outlawing racial discrimination against black Americans and restoring voting rights to them. This article covers the phase of the movement between 1955 and 1968, particularly in the South. The emergence of the Black Power Movement, which lasted roughly from 1966 to 1975, enlarged the aims of the Civil Rights Movement to include racial dignity, economic and political self-sufficiency, and freedom from oppression by white Americans.
The movement was characterized by major campaigns of civil resistance. Between 1955 and 1968, act

The Dublin anarchist bookfair panel on migration, state racism and anti-racist, migrant self organising.
Looking at issues faced by migrant activists involved in left-wing politics including the NGOization and electoralization of the migrant justice movement; confronting nationalism and white privilege within campaigns and the particular types of exploitation and oppression faced by different communities of working class migrants. Also discussing migrant self-organising, as in the Kinsale Road occupation, and strategies for making single-issue campaigns more inclusive of anti-racism organising.

Between 1955 and 1968, acts of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience produced crisis situations between activists and government authorities. Federal, state, and local governments, businesses, and communities often had to respond immediately to these situations that highlighted the inequities faced by African Americans. Forms of protest and/or civil disobedience included boycotts such as the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955--1956) in Alabama; "sit-ins" such as the influential Greensboro sit-ins (1960) in North Carolina; marches, such as the Selma to Montgomery marches (1965) in Alabama; and a wide range of other nonviolent activities.
Noted legislative achievements during this phase of the Civil Rights Movement were passage of Civil Rights Act of 1964, that banned discrimination based on "race, color, religion, or national origin" in employment practices and public accommodations; the Voting Rights Act of 1965, that restored and protected voting rights; the Immigration and Nationality Services Act of 1965, that dramatically opened entry to the U.S. to immigrants other than traditional European groups; and the Fair Housing Act of 1968, that banned discrimination in the sale or rental of housing. African Americans re-entered politics in the South, and across the country young people were inspired to action.
Desegregation busing in the United States (also known as forced busing or simply busing) is the practice of assigning and transporting students to schools in such a manner as to redress prior racial segregation of schools, or to overcome the effects of residential segregation on local school demographics.

Michel Foucault was a philosophical historian who questioned many of our assumptions about how much better the world is today compared with the past. When he looked at the treatment of the mad, at the medical profession and at sexuality, he didn't see the progress that's routinely assumed. Many believe it has become icon for racism and xenophobia in the country.
Demonstrators have burnt a US flag in Denver as protests against 'state-sponsored racism' intensified in the wake of the South Carolina mass murder.
Protesters staged a rally outside the Colorado State Capitol to demand the removal of the Confederate flag from the state house.
Hundreds of people chanted 'take it down' at the demonstration, with some even setting light to the national flag of the US to make a stand.
The murder of nine parishioners at a historical black church in Charleston, South Carolina, last week renewed debate about the place of the Confederate flag in US culture.
Pictures emerged of Dylann Roof, the 21-year-old accused of slaughtering nine African-Americans, holding the flag in the disturbing pictures he posted on his hate-filled website.
The Confederate battle flag became a potent symbol for the southern states fighting the Civil War as they sought to break away from the union.
It is seen by some as an icon of slavery and racism while others say the banner symbolises their heritage and history.
South Carolina had already seen the Confederate flag removed from the dome of the capitol itself in 2000.
Since then it has flown in front of the building, above a memorial honoring veterans of the U.S. Civil War.
Many southerners still see the flag as a symbol of their heritage and deny the significance of its racial overtones.
The White House said in the immediate aftermath of the shooting the president believes the flag belongs in a museum.
Hillary Clinton added her voice to the debate yesterday when she said it was a 'symbol of our racist past'.
The flag is disappearing from store shelves as well, with Walmart, eBay and Sears Holdings, which owns Sears and Kmart, all announcing they would no longer sell merchandise such as T-shirts, license plates or belt buckles bearing the flag.
The online retail giant Amazon.com yesterday said it was pulling Confederate flag merchandise from its site, as prominent US flag makers prepared to stop producing and selling the flag.

The burning Friday afternoon was done by a small group activists without much fanfare, ire or attention. Radio host Mannwell Glenn says none of that is the point.
“This flag represents American terrorism. It represents the symbol of an American terrorist.”
Once again, the usual Southern debate has gone nationwide.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office and the Miami Beach Police Department have announced they are investigating at least two officers allegedly linked to more than 200 e-mails they described as racist and deplorable, including one featuring a picture of a dead body in connection to a 2011 Memorial Day shooting.
The State Attorney's Office held a press conference Thursday afternoon to address issues regarding the e-mails allegedly sent by members of the police department. Some in attendance included Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales and Miami Beach Police Department Chief Daniel J. Oates.
"We found that ranking members of the police department sent numerous racist and sexually explicit e-mails from both their police department e-mail and their personal e-mail addresses," said Fernandez Rundle. "The e-mails were received and then forwarded to officers within the department."
Among some of the released e-mails is a doctored poster of the film "Brokeback Mountain" with a photo of Tiger Woods superimposed over star Heath Ledger's face. The film's title had been to changed to "Broke Black Golfer." In another, a Monopoly board game table now reads "Black Monopoly," with every single space requiring players to "Go to Jail." In a third e-mail, Daffy Duck is seen telling Bugs Bunny, "I'm African American," to which the Looney Tunes rabbit responds "You're a [expletive n-word]."
"This behavior serves to belittle the people we serve. They belittle women, and they belittle minorities.

Racism in the United States has been a major issue since the colonial era and the slave era. Legally sanctioned racism imposed a heavy burden on Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Latin Americans. European Americans (particularly Anglo Americans) were privileged by law in matters of literacy, immigration, voting rights, citizenship, land acquisition, and criminal procedure over periods of time extending from the 17th century to the 1960s. Many non-Protestant European immigrant groups, particularly American Jews, Irish Americans, Italian Americans, as well as other immigrants from elsewhere, suffered xenophobic exclusion

Race, Racism, and the Nation State
At the 2010 Jesus Radicals conference in Portland, Nekeisha Alexis-Baker spoke about racism and the nation-state. Crucial to the work for racial justice is the understanding of the origin and history of race. With that in mind, this session will explore the beginning of race as a concept; early attempts to articulate the idea and its initial impact on emerging European and American nation-states, such as naturalizing the nation, masking economic inequality, and creating borders. In addition to sharing this research, Nekeisha Alexis-Baker will also offer initial reflections on the particularly resources within Christian faith that enable resis

Many non-Protestant European immigrant groups, particularly American Jews, Irish Americans, Italian Americans, as well as other immigrants from elsewhere, suffered xenophobic exclusion and other forms of discrimination in American society.
Major racially structured institutions included slavery, Indian Wars, Native American reservations, segregation, residential schools (for Native Americans), and internment camps. Formal racial discrimination was largely banned in the mid-20th century, and came to be perceived as socially unacceptable and/or morally repugnant as well, yet racial politics remain a major phenomenon. Historical racism continues to be reflected in socio-economic inequality. Racial stratification continues to occur in employment, housing, education, lending, and government.
The 20th century saw a hardening of institutionalized racism and legal discrimination against citizens of African descent in the United States. Although technically able to vote, poll taxes, acts of terror (often perpetuated by groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, founded in the Reconstruction South), and discriminatory laws such as grandfather clauses kept black Americans disenfranchised particularly in the South but also nationwide following the Hayes election at the end of the Reconstruction era in 1877. In response to de jure racism, protest and lobbyist groups emerged, most notably, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) in 1909.
This time period is sometimes referred to as the nadir of American race relations because racism in the United States was worse during this time than at any period before or since. Segregation, racial discrimination, and expressions of white supremacy all increased. So did anti-black violence, including lynchings and race riots.
In addition, racism which had been viewed primarily as a problem in the Southern states, burst onto the national consciousness following the Great Migration, the relocation of millions of African Americans from their roots in the Southern states to the industrial centers of the North after World War I, particularly in cities such as Boston, Chicago, and New York (Harlem). In northern cities, racial tensions exploded, most violently in Chicago, and lynchings--mob-directed hangings, usually racially motivated—increased dramatically in the 1920s. As a member of the Princeton chapter of the NAACP, Albert Einstein corresponded with W. E. B. Du Bois, and in 1946 Einstein called racism America's "worst disease."
The Jim Crow Laws were state and local laws enacted in the Southern and border states of the United States and enforced between 1876 and 1965. They mandated "separate but equal" status for black Americans. In reality, this led to treatment and accommodations that were almost always inferior to those provided to white Americans. The most important laws required that public schools, public places and public transportation, like trains and buses, have separate facilities for whites and blacks. (These Jim Crow Laws were separate from the 1800-66 Black Codes, which had restricted the civil rights and civil liberties of African Americans.) State-sponsored school segregation was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States in 1954 in Brown v. Board of Education. Generally, the remaining Jim Crow laws were overruled by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act; none were in effect at the end of the 1960s.
Segregation continued even after the demise of the Jim Crow laws. Data on house prices and attitudes toward integration from suggest that in the mid-20th century, segregation was a product of collective actions taken by whites to exclude blacks from their neighborhoods. Segregation also took the form of redlining, the practice of denying or increasing the cost of services, such as banking, insurance, access to jobs, access to health care, or even supermarkets to residents in certain, often racially determined, areas. Although in the United States informal discrimination and segregation have always existed, the practice called "redlining" began with the National Housing Act of 1934, which established the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).

In addition to sharing this research, Nekeisha Alexis-Baker will also offer initial reflections on the particularly resources within Christian faith that enable resistance to race, racism and nation-state from her distinctive perspective as a Jesus-follower, an anarchist and a woman of color.

If you bomb the Middle East and create refugees, expect some of those refugees to be under cover militants. ISIS admitted they were going to do this. And for governments and the corporate-state media to ignore that is just downright dangerous and treasonous. It's subversive propaganda that is targeting innocent people and all major corporate-state media and banker-puppet politicians are in on it. When ISIS attacks, the blood will be on their hands.

State lawmakers have voted to removed the confederate flag from the state grounds in South Carolina.
There is a Brigham Young statue in the Capitol building in Washington DC. It is located in Statuary Hall.
Brigham Young was a prophet form the Mormon (LDS) church and a well known racist. He believed that African Americans did not help the good angels before they came to Earth, so God cursed them with black skin. African Americans could not live in the Celestial Kingdom with god when they die. They could only enter the Celestial Kingdom as slaves. Brigham preached those words as God's words. He spoke for God.
Should the Brigham Young statue be removed from the capitol building?

Demonstrators burn a US flag in Denver as protests against 'state-sponsored racism' spread across America in wake of South Carolina shooting
Protesters burnt a US flag in Denver in wake of South Carolina shooting
Happened during a demonstration against white supremacy in the US
Elsewhere, protesters called for the banning of the Confederate flag

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (CBSPhilly) — At South Carolina’s state capitol Friday, both the state and United States flag went to half staff, to honor the lives of nine people murdered on the grounds of a Charleston church.
In the same place, the Confederate flag flew overhead at full staff, protected by the state law that makes it untouchable.
“Enough is enough,” said an activist.
In Philadelphia Friday, the Confederate flag was balled up on the grounds of Independence Mall, shoved into a small metal tub and set on fire with lighter fluid.
“I’m extremely happy to burn this flag and this flag represented for generations of fear, it represents hatred, it represents bigotry,” said an activist.

MIAMI POLICE OFFICERS INVESTIGATED FOR RACISM!

In addition to sharing this research, Nekeisha Alexis-Baker will also offer initial reflections on the particularly resources within Christian faith that enable resistance to race, racism and nation-state from her distinctive perspective as a Jesus-follower, an anarchist and a woman of color.
