The Iraq government has lost control of the strategic city of Falluja, west of Baghdad, say officials and witnesses.
Al-Qaeda-linked militants now control the south of the city. An Iraqi reporter there says tribesmen allied with al-Qaeda hold the rest of Falluja.
The United States said it would speed up its deliveries of missiles and surveillance drones to Iraq as the Baghdad government battles a resurgence of Al-Qaeda linked militants.
The White House, meanwhile, dismissed claims that the fighting, which has seen militants retake the city of Fallujah, was a result of President Barack Obama's decision to withdraw US troops.
Two Iraqi Army soldiers were wounded when an Improvised Explosive Device exploded to the north of Babel province showing that the fighting is spreading over Iraq.
"Unidentified gunmen emplaced a bomb nearby a security checkpoint, that belongs to the Iraqi Army/ 31st Brigade/ exploded at the entrance of Mussayib district of northern Hilla," noting that "The explosion of the IED resulted in wounding two soldiers of the security checkpoint.""The security forces blocked off the explosion area and transported the wounded soldiers to the hospital for treatment,"

Battlefield Iraq Heavy Clashes And Fighting Between Insurgents And Iraqi Army In The Anbar Province. Heavy Fighting Firefights And Clashes In Iraqs Anbar Province. Since 2014 the Anbar Province is place of fierce fighting between Sunni Iraqi Militias and the Iraqi Army. The main area of the clashes are the citys Ramadi and Falluja where a strong sunni population is located.
According to Officials and witnesses, the Iraq government mainly has lost control over the strategic citys, west of Baghdad.
The renewed violence in the Sunni province has raised concern about the stability of the government amid dueling claims by the terror group and security forces over who was in control of Falluja and Ramadi.
Al-Qaeda black flags have been seen on government and police vehicles captured by the fighters.
The army has besieged Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, and has launched air strikes on the city.
Security forces backed by tanks on battled militants in Iraq's Anbar province, where fighting has displaced thousands and sparked warnings of rights abuses and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
Some of the most significant fighting appeared to be in Falluja, where the U.S. military fought one of the bloodiest battles of the Iraq war, with militants planting al Qaeda flags on buildings.
Gunmen calling themselves the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, took to a stage before thousands of Sunnis following Friday prayers in Falluja.
The takeover of Fallujah and parts of Ramadi is the first time that tribal fighters have exercised such open control in major Iraqi cities since the height of the bloody insurgency that followed the US-led invasion of 2003.
The fighting has left more than a hundred people dead and forced thousands of Falluja's residents to flee the city, to Baghdad, northern Iraq and the southern city of Karbala, where Shiite leaders are hosting the displaced families in housing built for religious pilgrims.
The United States said it would speed up its deliveries of missiles and surveillance drones to Iraq as the Baghdad government battles a resurgence of Al-Qaeda linked militants.
Iraq's prime minister has urged residents and tribes in Anbar province to "expel" al-Qaeda-linked fighters to avoid an all-out battle - remarks that may signal an imminent military move to retake the former insurgent stronghold.
The Insurgents mainly ambushing Iraqi Army convoys in urban areas and attacking small check points and police stations with small arms, rpgs and ieds. The Iraqi Army repels with Air Strikes and armored infantry units.
The ISIL rebels were trying to bring the battle to the cities of Anbar and Fallujah because there's no security there and they know they will be thoroughly defeated in the desert.
The Iraqi civil war never really ended it just went off the boil for a while. Last year, the heat was turned back to high, with the number of civilian deaths from political violence doubling to roughly 8,000 people over the previous year, the highest civilian death toll since at least 2008.
Officials have blamed the upsurge in violence to a resurgent Al-Qaeda
emboldened by the civil war in neighbouring Syria, but the government has itself faced criticism for not doing enough to address the concerns of Iraq's disaffected Sunni Arab minority ahead of April elections.

Fighting is raging between al Qaeda-backed militants and Iraq's security forces for control of two key cities in the embattled Anbar province, even as a deal was in place with Sunni tribesmen to fight alongside Iraqi police against the militant group.
The renewed violence in the Sunni province has raised concern about the stability of the government amid dueling claims by the terror group and security forces over who was in control of Falluja and Ramadi.
The Iraqi civil war never really ended it just went off the boil for a while. Last year, the heat was turned back to high, with the number of civilian deaths from political violence doubling to roughly 8,000 people over the previous year, the highest civilian death toll since at least 2008.
"We call you to join us in our fight against the government of Nuri al-Maliki," one of the gunman said through a bullhorn.
Authorities say gunmen have attacked an Iraqi army barracks north of Baghdad, killing 12 soldiers meaning that the militant attacks are spreading beyond Anbar.
Human rights activists have condemned abuses by both government troops and insurgents in Iraq's Anbar province.
"Apparently unlawful methods of fighting by all sides have caused civilian casualties," Human Rights Watch said in a report.
The rights group criticised Iraqi forces and militants for carrying out attacks in residential areas.
It comes as troops prepare to launch a major assault against al-Qaeda-linked militants in the city of Falluja.

Officials say the attacks began when the ISIL terrorists shelled army positions outside the town of Haditha. Then two bombers blew their explosives near the troops. There were also three car bombings afterwards. Five soldiers and three voluntary forces have been wounded in the attacks. Much of Anbar province west of the capital Baghdad is now under the control of Daesh Takfiri terrorists.

Baghdad - Islamic State fighters seized the government compound in the city of Ramadi today and edged closer to what would be their biggest victory in Iraq this year, officials said. The loss of the capital of Anbar province, which Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi had said would be the next target of government forces after wresting back Tikrit last month, would be a major setback. The government stressed that Ramadi had not fallen yet and announced that a major counter-offensive was under way as Abadi held an emergency meeting with top security officials.
Islamic State has threatened to take control of Ramadi for months, and the breakthrough came after a wide offensive on multiple fronts in the province, including an assault using several suicide car bombs in Ramadi on Thursday.
The jihadists seized the government complex at around 2:00 pm (1100 GMT) and raised the black flag, a police officer said, giving them nearly full control over Anbar's capital.
ISIS "now occupies the government center in Ramadi and has also raised its flag over the police HQ for Anbar", the police major told reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

According to the Iraqi Defense Ministry, the army forces carried out airstrikes on the Takfiri militants' bases in the western province of Anbar, killing scores of them.
The Iraqi ministry also said the government troops had dismantled caches of ammunition in the violence-stricken province.
Senior Iraqi lawmaker Abbas al-Bayati told Press TV, "We are fighting the al-Qaeda and the [al-Qaeda-affiliated] ISIL (so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) in the Anbar Province," adding that the terrorists are trying to form bases in the area.
Over the past weeks, Anbar has been the scene of deadly fighting between Iraqi security forces and the al-Qaeda-linked ISIL militants.
Violence erupted in Anbar on December 30, 2013, when the army removed an anti-government camp in the city of Ramadi. Iraqi authorities said the camp had been used as "headquarters for the leadership of al-Qaeda."
The turmoil later spread to Fallujah and the militants moved in and seized the city as well as parts of Ramadi.
On January 22, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki called on the residents of the Anbar Province to "take a stand" against the anti-government militants.
Maliki has also blamed "diabolical" and "treacherous" Arab countries for the recent rise in violence in his country, saying, "Iraq is the target for some countries that are backing terrorism, and backing evil."
In an address to the opening session of the Geneva II conference on the crisis in Syria on January 22, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said the growing influence of al-Qaeda and other extremist militants in neighboring Syria is behind the violence in Iraq.

The Iraqi army, backed by volunteer forces, has retaken parts of a town in Anbar province from the ISIL terrorists. The operation targeted the town of Husaybah east of the provincial capital Ramadi. Officials say the town's police station and surrounding areas have been liberated. They added that the operation is progressing rapidly. This is the first counterattack by government forces since Ramadi fell to the Takfiris. Iraqi forces earlier massed around the city in a move to liberate it. The ISIL terrorists took control of Ramadi following a deadly three-day blitz last week. They've been trying to gain more ground east of the city towards the capital Baghdad.

The United Nations has confirmed the mass execution of dozens of Sunni tribesmen by Daesh terrorists in the western Iraqi province of Anbar.
The world body says the terrorists killed 70 tribesmen after abducting them from Tharthar area, north of the city of Ramadi. A chief of the Albu Nimr tribe says the mass execution happened because the victims' family members had joined the nation-wide battle against the terrorists. Daesh also known as ISIL has executed hundreds of members of the Albu Nimr tribe since seizing swathes of land in northwestern Iraq in 20-14. They have been carrying out atrocities including public decapitations against all communities including Shias, Sunnis, Christians and Kurds.
