Tito Guízar
Federico Arturo Guízar Tolentino (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtito ˈɣisar]; April 8, 1908 – December 24, 1999) was a Mexican singer and actor. Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, he performed under the name of Tito Guízar. Together with Dolores del Río, José Mojica, Ramón Novarro and Lupe Vélez, Guízar was among the few Mexican people who made history in the early years of Hollywood.
Career
In a career that spanned over seven decades, Guízar trained early as an opera singer and traveled to New York in 1929 to record the songs of Agustín Lara.
In addition, Guízar performed both operatic and Mexican popular songs at Carnegie Hall, but he succeeded with his arrangements of popular Mexican and Spanish melodies such as Cielito Lindo, La Cucaracha, Granada, and You Belong to My Heart (English version of Solamente una Vez). In 1936, his song Allá en el Rancho Grande launched the singing charro in Mexico after appearing in the film of the same name, succeeding as well in the United States.
Guízar made numerous television appearances, toured in most of Latin American countries, recorded a significant number of songs, and had his own radio show in Los Angeles, Tito Guizar y su Guitarra.

Allá en el Rancho Grande
Allá en el Rancho Grande (English: Out On The Great Ranch) is a 1936 Mexican romantic drama film directed by Fernando de Fuentes and starring Tito Guízar and Esther Fernández. The film is considered to be the one that started the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
Plot
The owner and the general manager of a ranch (Rancho Grande), two good friends, fall in love with the same girl at the same time. The owner tries to 'buy' the girl without knowing she is in love with the manager.

Lorenzo Barcelata
Lorenzo Barcelata (July 24, 1898 – July 13, 1943) was a Mexican composer and actor born in Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz. He died in Mexico City from cholera, shortly before his 45th birthday.
Barcelata came from a musically oriented family. He wrote his first song, "Arroyito", at the age of 14. He later moved to Tampico where he formed the quartet "Cuarteto Tamaulipeco", with composer Ernesto Cortázar. Their fame quickly spread throughout the region and they received international fame when the Mexican government sent them on a tour of Cuba. While there, they were signed to perform a 52 week tour of the United States. After two of the members were fatally injured in an automobile accident, Barcelata returned to Mexico. He reformed the quartet as his fame continued to grow. Beginning in 1932, he entered the Mexican film industry and became a prominent film composer until his death. He also achieved fame as an actor as he played roles in several films.
His most famous song is "María Elena", which was originally written for the First Lady of Mexico, the wife of president Emilio Portes Gil. Maria Elena was featured in the Mexican film by the same name. A version of it was also included on the soundtrack to the American film Bordertown. It was later translated into English and performed by the Lawrence Welk orchestra. Another English version was recorded by Jimmy Dorsey. Dorsey's version topped the charts in 1941. Wayne King also recorded an English version which reached the No.2 position during the week of June 14, runner-up only to the Dorsey version. A vocal version by Tony Pastor also reached the Top 10 during that month. Maria Elena has since been recorded internationally by several different musicians. In 1958, the Brazilian group Los Indios Tabajaras recorded a version that became popular throughout Latin America and later (in 1963) reached the No.6 position in the US charts & No.5 in the UK charts.

Mi ha raccontato che è emozionante lavorare con la compagnia, le offre importanti opportunità di esibirsi sui palcoscenici continentali, ma soprattutto si sente come in una grande famiglia.
Nonostante la disciplina, l’esercizio e la ricerca della perfezione che la danza richiede, l’ambiente è amichevole e sereno. La sua avventura è iniziata dal Balletto di Toscana a tredici anni, quando, grazie ad un’audizione, è entrata nella scuola. Ha fatto poi una breve esperienza nella prestigiosa John Cranko Schule di Stoccarda, dove è stata notata per le sue doti e il suo talento. Oggi si allena tutti i giorni con impegno e umiltà: inizia con la sbarra alle nove e tra esercizi e prove finisce nel pomeriggio.
Laura è determinata e forte, anche nel gesto dei movimenti: le sue gambe e le sue braccia rendono visibili i muscoli e i nervi tesi che collegano ogni movimento alla sua interiorità. Così nella posa più dolce e abbandonata, riesce a esprimere la tenacia e la forza fisica che possiede.
È eterea ma profondamente terrena. Per queste sue doti antitetiche, da vera ballerina, è stata scelta da Eugenio Scigliano come protagonista per la sua Giselle, portata in tournée nei teatri più prestigiosi d’Italia e a Cannes.
Lei è davvero entusiasta e onorata che un coreografo e danzatore del calibro di Scigliano le abbia affidato un ruolo così importante, interpretato tra l’altro dalle più grandi danzatrici del passato e di oggi. Già due anni fa la direttrice della compagnia, Cristina Bozzolini, le aveva offerto l’occasione di ballare al Teatro alla Fenice di Venezia, un’opportunità inaspettata vissuta con entusiasmo e responsabilità. La stessa responsabilità con la quale danza e prova finché non raggiungere la bellezza.
E pensare che aveva iniziato a studiare controvoglia: a sei anni infatti è stata notata da un’insegnante di danza tifernate (nonché mamma di un suo compagno di scuola) al saggio di ginnastica. «Ha talento», aveva detto alla madre.
Lei non ne voleva sapere, aveva i capelli corti e le piaceva stare all’aria aperta. Oggi invece non riesce a pensare a un giorno senza danza. Immagina di esibirsi all’estero, dove ci sono maggiori opportunità, soprattutto per la contemporanea e moderna, che sente più affini a sé stessa. Il suo sogno è continuare a ballare con impegno e serietà, mantenendo sempre i suoi piedi ben saldi per terra.
