This is actual film footage taken of the damage caused by the Great Tri-State Tornado which ripped through 3-states, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana on March18th,1925 Killing 695-people. This massive EF-5 Tornado came with little warning and moved at a forward speed of 73-mph, stayed on the ground for several hours and produced winds over 300-MPH. Whole towns were wiped off the face of the earth and damage was in the millions of dollars. This event ranks as one of the worst Natural Disasters in American History. Southbound Interstate 81 is closed, starting around Spring Mills, due to a multivehicle accident that might involve as many as 10 vehicles, according to Berkeley County 911. Several injuries were reported, though it was unknown if any are life-threatening, a Berkeley County 911 supervisor said. The injured were being taken to Berkeley Medical Center, she said.
