Writer/Producer: Chelle Koster Walton By definition, a classic roadside attraction should be kitsch at best, bordering on hokey. Tamiami Trail's brand of roadside attractions fall in line, but yet they boast their own twist and bite, namely nature -- especially alligators. The oldest, Everglades Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs, has been around since 1936. Since then, the road has moved, but the zoo attraction persists. East of Naples, The Trail dips into true Everglades territory, where circa-1950s Wooten's Airboat Tours and the Skunk-Ape Research Headquarters turn the public's fascination for the wilds into tourist attractions on the funky, swampy, sometimes far-fetched side of things.
In Manchester by the Sea, the latest film from award-winning writer and director Kenneth Lonergan, the life of a solitary Boston janitor is transformed when he returns to his hometown to take care of his teenage nephew. The story of the Chandlers, a working-class family living in a Massachusetts fishing village for generations, Manchester by the Sea is a deeply poignant, unexpectedly funny exploration of the power of familial love, community, sacrifice and hope

Two South Miami-Dade attractions with a slightly spooky side -- the Serpentarium and Coral Castle -- are featured in this clip from "Sun, Sand and Surf," a travel film showcasing South Florida attractions produced in the 1950s. A few internal clues indicate that this film may date from the early 1950s. First, there's the look of the Serpentarium. Early on Bill Haast's snake-centric attraction had a south Asian feeling, as seen in this clip. A 1960s remodel featured the sleek, better-known mid-century facade. A stronger clue to the film's date is the name it uses for the monumental eccentricity we know as "Coral Castle." "Sun, Sand and Surf" identifies it as "Rock Gate Park." That was the name of the place when its creator Edward Leedskalnin died in 1951. But shortly after it was sold in...

From Roadside Attractions, inspired by true events, "Priceless" is a powerful drama/thriller about James Stevens who was, at one time, a good man with a great life. After the tragic death of his wife and losing custody of his little girl, James is at the darkest crossroad of his life. Angry, desperate, and unable to hold down a steady job, he agrees to drive a box truck on a shady, one-time trip cross country for cash -- no questions asked. But when he discovers what he is delivering is actually who, he is compelled to save two beautiful and frightened sisters who are unaware of the danger that awaits them. Can love, strength, and faith redefine his past and change the course of his future? This unlikely hero risks it all to save these women, confront the forces that oppose him and ulti...

Between Here and Kingdom Come
Out between here and kingdom come
Is the place I come from
it's not close to any where
Every call's long distance there
Two lane highway and one red light
Sidewalks that roll up at night
it’s not much but it’s my home
Out between here and kingdom come
Big double bed hanging from chains
When it starts to swing the whole house shakes
Drifting off to sleep under neath the moon
Don’t you know we got it good
That old hoot owl he’s singing his tune
Through the window comes the sweet perfume
Trains going by, beating like a drum
Out between here and kingdom come
I know why the tom cat prowls
Walking all the way from town
Just to watch a summer storm
Laying out in my front yard
It June bug time but we’re drinking wine
All lit up like fireflies
He’s got a bottle, give me some
Out between here and kingdom come
Out between here and kingdom come
Years are passing one by one
Land of cotton, land of dreams
Nothing is quite what it seems
Old people’s stories but they ring so true
Memories piling up on you
You can leave but you’re never gone
Out between here and kingdom come
