6Cyclemind (sometimes spelled as Six Cycle Mind or 6 Cycle Mind) is a Filipino band composed of Tito Fortunato "Tutti" Caringal on vocals, Ryan "Rye" Sarmiento on rhythm guitars and backing vocals, Roberto "Bob" Cañamo on bass guitar, Herbert Hernandez on lead guitar and Vic Aquino on drums. Their music is a fusion of alternative and pop music.

History

They have successfully released five studio albums under Sony Music Philippines namely Permission to Shine (2003), Panorama (2005), Home (2007), Fiesta! Magsasaya Ang Lahat (2007), and Project: 6cyclemind (2009).

They previously performed for the Tanduay's "First Five", along with Rico Blanco (2009), Kamikazee, Chicosci, Sandwich and Bamboo (2010).

The band has been the endorser of Suzuki for 2 consecutive years since 2012. Through the Suzuki Invasion tour, they have been performing their hits in different parts of the country.

Name origin

6cyclemind comes from the 5 members plus their manager, Darwin Hernandez of Soupstar Entertainment as the 6th person. Collectively, they all contribute to the composing, arranging and brainstorming, which is a continuous cycle in their creation of music, hence 6cyclemind. Carlos "Chuck" Isidro was the former lead guitarist for Afterimage. When Afterimage disbanded, Isidro, worked in the recording company. During his stay, he signed up a group managed by Darwin Hernandez where he met Ryan Sarmiento, Roberto Cañamo, Gilbert "Gibbz" Magat and Rhoneil "Ney" Dimaculangan. Both Isidro and Hernandez agreed and chose to form a band with them, which became 6cyclemind.

Music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. Rock Band

Rock Band is a series of music video games developed by Harmonix and MTV Games, and distributed by Electronic Arts for the Nintendo DS, iOS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, and Xbox 360 game systems. The series, inspired by Harmonix's previous efforts on the Guitar Hero series, allows up to four players to simulate the performance of popular rock music songs by playing with controllers modeled after musical instruments. Players can play the lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums parts to songs, as well as sing into a USB microphone. Players are scored on their ability to match scrolling musical notes while playing instruments, and by their ability to match the singer's pitch on vocals.

The concept for Rock Band was formed while Harmonix was working on the Guitar Hero series, with the idea to expand the note-matching gameplay into multiple instruments. When their Guitar Hero partner, RedOctane, was acquired by Activision, Harmonix was acquired by MTV Games, a division of Viacom, allowing them to pursue the title. The first game in the series, Rock Band, was released in 2007 and its sequel Rock Band 2 was released in 2008. As the rhythm game market began to flounder in 2009, Viacom put Harmonix up for sale, but investors were able to buy the company, making it an independent studio. Harmonix would go on to expand the series, including obtaining the lucrative licensing needed for The Beatles: Rock Band in 2009. Rock Band 3 was released in 2010 which introduced new "Pro" features and keyboard parts. Following saturation of the rhythm game market, Harmonix opted to wait on releasing another main title for several years. Upon the release of the next generation of consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Harmonix released Rock Band 4 in October 6, 2015; the company does not plan to release further versions of the game for these consoles but instead see Rock Band 4 as a platform they can continue to expand on through game patches.

Gloc-9

Aristotle Pollisco (born 18 October 1977), known by his stage name Gloc-9, is an Awit Award-winning Filipino rapper. His fast-flowing vocal style has made him one of the most successful hip-hop artists in the Philippines. He was described by fellow Filipino rapper Francis Magalona as "a blacksmith of words and letters, and a true Filipino poet."

He has collaborated on almost a dozen songs with other OPM artists; “Lando” with the late Francis M, “Upuan” with Jaezelle, “Bagsakan” with Parokya ni Edgar , “Baon” with Gab Chee Kee of Parokya ni Edgar and Francis M, and “Sari-Saring Kwento” with Noel Cabangon and Champ Lui Pio. His songs mostly tackle social issues such as social injustices, poverty and patriotism. He began his musical career with the gangsta rap group Death Threat.

Gloc-9 is notably one of the few artists in the Philippine music scene who has won an award in every album he created.
