1. GOVERNMENT OF CHILE, FINANCE MINISTER, ALBERTO ARENAS, SAYING:
JOURNALIST ASKING ALBERTO ARENAS: "Now Alberto, I know your Central Bank has forecast the economy will grow up to 2.25% this year, 3% to 4% in 2015, do you think we'll meet these targets? I mean, at the same time, copper prices, your main export is still weak, the Peso has fallen. Will we undershoot these targets?"
ARENAS: "Yeah, yeah. Well, actually this is a very important question. What I'm forecasting for the economic growth in Chile- right now, 2014 is that the economy will grow around 2%. One of the forecasting for 2015 for the Central Bank, IMF, OECD, and our forecasting, economic forecasting is that we are- the growth, the economic growth is going to be between 3% and 4%, around 3.2%, 3.3%. And actually, when we send the bill, the budget bill to the Congress, we have, we make some assumptions. And our assumption is that the economic growth in 2015 is going to be 3.6% because we have the same assumption that the Central Bank or the IMF, plus this expansionary fiscal policy they gave out. So a couple of more decimals in the economic rate. And what is the question on Chile and what is the debate? The debate is, are we- do we have a solid basis to have recovery and a higher rate of growth to 2015 than 2014? And the answer is yes, because we have a strong institution, stability on the macroeconomic indicators. We a have a strong fiscal position, low debt expansionary and policy, monetary policy and expansionary fiscal policy. And then we have, our forecasting that what is our job now? That the expectation that has the market, that the economic agent has for the 2015 be real."

Around 200 bombs have been either found or detonated in Chile over the past decade. Many of these bombs have been located in the capital city of Santiago, and have generally avoided harming innocent civilians.
This changed on September 8, 2014. A bomb was detonated inside a crowded subway station, leaving 14 civilians injured. Some blamed anarchist groups, while others suspected ultra-right terrorists.
In response to the threat, Chile’s government has increasingly invoked its controversial anti-terror laws, which were originally enacted during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship.
VICE News traveled to Chile to speak with lawyers, politicians, and civilians about the current climate following the September 8 attack, and to ask whether the government will be able to guarantee and protect the rights of its citizens as it seeks to solve the mystery of the bombings in Chile.

Economist Rodrigo Valdes was named as Chile's finance minister on Monday by President Michelle Bachelet, in a sweeping cabinet reshuffle in which four of her closest ministers were sacked or shifted into other roles.
On Valdes' immediate to-do list is an upcoming $1.26 billion international debt issue.
Although some changes were expected a year into Bachelet's second term, it is the first time since Chile returned to democracy in 1990 that the finance minister has been dismissed mid-term.
The appointments follow financial scandals, a slowing economy and disillusion with the pace and content of reforms that have eroded Bachelet's popularity in recent polls.
However, he is not expected to make significant adjustments to Bachelet's ambitious tax-and-spend reform agenda.
