The official Saudi Press Agency says King Salman met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the capital, Riyadh, where discussion centered on the ongoing war in Syria, Iran nuclear talks and the turmoil in Yemen. The meeting marks a thaw in diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Turkey, which had been tense under the late Saudi King Abdullah largely due to Erdogan's criticism of Egypt's military-led ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi from power. Erdogan was last in Saudi Arabia in January for Abdullah's funeral. Before meeting with Salman, he performed the Islamic pilgrimage in Mecca and visited the first mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad in Medina.

"In the second attack of its kind in a week, four people have died after a suicide bomber targeted a Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia’s eastern province, fuelling fears of an organised campaign by Islamic Stateto foment sectarian tensions inside the conservative Sunni kingdom.
Reports from Dammam described a car bomb explosion at the entrance to the al-Anoud mosque, despite security measures put in place because of last Friday’s incident near Qatif, in which 21 people were killed and 120 injured in the worst attack in Saudi Arabia in a decade.
Video clips showed men at prayers inside the mosque reacting in alarm when a loud bang was heard. The Saudi Press agency reported that guards had approached the attacker’s car as it was parking and that the driver then detonated the bomb. One of the dead appears to have been the bomber."

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud has died, according to an announcement on Saudi state TV. He was 90.
The next king will be Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, state television reported early Friday.
The announcement of his death comes several weeks after the state-run Saudi Press Agency said Abdullah was suffering from pneumonia and had been admitted to the hospital.
State television showed throngs of mourners gathered in Mecca.
King Abdullah became king of the oil-rich nation, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East, in August 2005. But he'd been running Saudi Arabia since 1996, following his half-brother King Fahd's stroke.
In the context of the kingdom's conservative circles, Abdullah was seen as reformer and often came up against the more hard-line clerics.
Since ascending to the throne, Abdullah took steps toward broader freedoms and invested some of the country's vast oil wealth in large-scale education and infrastructure projects.

However, resistance from conservative factions hindered some of his efforts, leaving many women in particular disappointed by a lack of progress toward greater independence.
Under Abdullah's leadership, the country slowly squashed al Qaeda, capturing or killing its leaders in the kingdom, forcing the remnants underground and sidelining radical preachers.
It also took a more prominent role in international affairs.
Last year, it became the lead Arab nation in a U.S.-led coalition to eradicate the ultra-radical ISIS group in Iraq and Syria.

An Arabian Sheikh Making Star in the Sky .. Arab Wedding Celebration with AK-47 Rifles.
Celebrating with gunfire at a wedding party in Saudi Arabia. It is common for many Arabs to shoot their guns on weddings, it's a form of celebration.
Celebratory gunfire at a wedding party in Saudi Arabia brought down an electric cable, killing 23 people -- most of them women and children, a local civil defence official said.
The official Saudi Press Agency said that a special government committee would investigate the incident in the Eastern province, which took place on Tuesday night. "At the wedding, the cable fell on a metal door and the 23 people who died were all electrocuted," Eastern province official Abdullah Khashman told Reuters.
A photograph of the aftermath of the accident, published on local newspapers' websites, showed a large courtyard strewn with fallen chairs and a pole in the middle supporting cables carrying lightbulbs.
All those killed were from the same tribe, Khashman said. Thirty others were injured in the incident near Abqaiq, a centre of the Saudi energy industry. Saudi Arabia's codes require genders to be separated at most public events, including weddings.
Last month the kingdom banned the shooting of firearms at weddings, a popular tradition in tribal areas. Eastern Province governor, Prince Mohammed bin Fahd, ordered an investigation into the incident, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.

A Saudi court has sentenced one man to death and 19 others to up to 25 years in prison in connection with an attack on the US consulate in Jeddah in 2004.
The Saudi Press Agency said the man facing execution was one of the five militants who stormed the building.
One Saudi security guard stationed outside the consulate and four locally hired staff working inside were killed, along with four of the assailants.
Another 35 defendants in the case are due to be sentenced later this week.
Two groups linked to al-Qaeda said they were behind the attack, one of a series that left dozens of foreigners and Saudi citizens dead in 2004.
In the Jeddah raid, the five militants threw explosive devices at the gate of the heavily guarded compound, forced their way into the consulate building, and then held hostages at gunpoint.
Three of the assailants were killed at the site by Saudi security forces, and one died later of his injuries. The fifth was taken into custody.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the authorities would publicly display his body after the execution- the most severe form of punishment allowed under the kingdom's Islamic legal system.
The other men sentenced on Sunday and the 35 facing hearings this week are accused of belonging to the same militant cell as the attackers, and of supporting the Jeddah attack and another at the Rabigh petrol refinery the same year, according to Reuters news agency.
The Saudi authorities stepped up their crackdown on al-Qaeda-linked groups in the wake of the consulate attack, capturing or killing many senior militants, and forcing others to flee to Yemen.
wn.com/Man Attacking The US Consulate Sentenced To Death In Saudi Arabia

A number of cooperation documents were signed by Russia and Saudi Arabia on Thursday, after President Putin met with Saudi Prince Mohammed in what was one of the most anticipated meetings at the international economic forum in St. Petersburg.
The pair has signed six agreements in total, Al Arabiya News Channel reported. A cooperation agreement on a peaceful nuclear program was among the documents, the press service of Russia’s nuclear agency, Rosatom, said.
According to Rosatom, the document is the first in the history of Russia-Saudi relations to create a legal framework for cooperation between the nations in the field of nuclear energy. Future joint projects might include construction of nuclear power reactors, provision of services in nuclear fuel cycling, including those for nuclear power stations and research reactor facilities.

The Gulf kingdom has no industrial nuclear power plants, but has big plans for developing nuclear energy.
The two oil heavyweights have also agreed on the creation of a working group to develop joint energy projects, Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak said on Thursday. Saudi Arabia is interested in energy projects in Russia, the minister said, adding that Russia doesn’t aim to replace existing partners in oil and gas cooperation, but rather wants to establish new ones.

The countries are ready to cooperate in a number of other spheres, the minister told journalists, mentioning pharmaceuticals and infrastructure development as prospective sectors.
“Our colleagues from Saudi Arabia have brought a lot of projects to the table. These projects will be introduced to our companies, including the ones involving the construction and upgrade of railways and building underground railway systems,” Novak said, adding that the Gulf kingdom plans to build metro systems in four cities in the near future.
Russia’s state space agency, Roscosmos, and Saudi national center for science and technology KACST signed papers including agendas for future cooperation in space exploration.
On meeting Putin, the 30-year old deputy crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, announced that his father, King Salman, was inviting the Russian leader to visit the Gulf state.
“I have the honor to pass on an invitation to visit the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as we regard Russia as one of the important states in the contemporary world, and our relations have roots in the past,” Prince Mohammed said, adding that Russia had been the first country to officially recognize the Gulf kingdom. “We will aim to develop bilateral relations in all sectors,” he added.
Putin said he accepted the invite, and also invited the king to pay a visit to Russia - an invitation that has also been accepted.

Thursday’s meetings were quite a success for the two nations, which - when it comes to diplomacy - are at opposite ends of the spectrum on a wide swathe of issues, most notably the civil war in Syria. Moscow is also a long-time supporter of Iran, which Riyadh sees as a rival.

Russia has also been critical of the Saudi-led bombing campaign in Yemen. Prior to the meetings in St. Petersburg, the Saudi ambassador to Russia, Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, said Moscow has an “important” role to play in implementing a Security Council resolution on Yemen, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), reporting on Thursday.
The ambassador said Moscow’s role was also “important” when it comes to other countries in his region, such as Iran, stressing that Russia should use its power in the Security Council to “maintain stability and security in the world.”

A suicide bomber killed 13 people when he blew himself up on Thursday in a mosque used by security forces in southern Saudi Arabia, the Saudi state news agency reported. The blast is the most recent in a series of attacks on mosques in the kingdom, with the timing often intended to maximize casualties. Most of the attacks have targeted mosques belonging to the Shiite minority in Saudi Arabia and have been claimed by the Islamic State, also known asISIS or ISIL, which considers Shiites heretics. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on Thursday, but the targeting of security forces, another declared enemy of the Islamic State, suggested that the extremist group was involved. The Saudi Press Agency, the state news service, said the attackers had struck a mosque belonging to a local security force in the region of Asir, in southwestern Saudi Arabia. Ten members of the force were killed, along with three other people. While Saudi Arabia promotes a conservative interpretation of Islam similar to that of the Islamic State, clerics in the country have denounced the group as misguided and bloodthirsty. Saudi Arabia has joined the United States-led coalition that is waging an air campaign against the group in Iraq and Syria. But the Islamic State movement has found support in some parts of Saudi society, and thousands of Saudis have traveled abroad to join the jihadists. In recent months, the Saudi security services have announced the arrest of hundreds of people across the kingdom said to have been supporting the group, planning attacks or promoting its ideology.
