UNITED NATIONS, July 15 -- The UN of Ban Ki-moon and Herve Ladsous plans to accept 800 more soldiers from Burundi for "service" in the Central African Republic, Inner City Press was exclusively informed and got the UN to confirm on June 23. But why?

UNITED NATIONS, July 15 -- Like many independent media, Inner City Press publishes its coverage not only on its website but on a number of third party platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Scribd and SoundCloud. YouTube is owned by Google, and like its parent allows publishes to monetize their material with advertisements.
But do YouTube and Google behind it engage in censorship?
This week, in the midst of Inner City Press' fight against the eviction of its shared office in the United Nations while it is asking questions about the Ng Lap Seng UN bribery case as relates not only to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon but also Under Secretary General for Communications Cristina Gallach, Inner City Press received emails from YouTube that its videos could no longer be monetized.
The emails said “We didn't approve your video(s) for monetization because the content in your video(s) or video details may not be advertiser-friendly.... Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown... We depend on our user community to flag inappropriate videos to us for our review.”
But they are video of questions and answers (sometimes) at the UN, of protests in the streets of New York, etc. Inner City Press has written, more than 24 hours ago, from to Monetization then to Press [at] YouTube.com:
“The videos you are saying are “not advertiser-friendly” are videos of media questions and answers with United Nations spokespeople and diplomats. They are news. The message sent yesterday and today said “you can request an additional review below” - this is a request for review. Look at the videos: they are Q&As; in the UN Press Briefing Room.
This is also a request to be informed if it was any complaint to YouTube / Google which triggered this denial of monetization, and if so if it came from the UN or any[one else.]

Ilo
Coordinates: 17°38′45.09″S 71°20′43.13″W / 17.6458583°S 71.3453139°W / -17.6458583; -71.3453139 Ilo is a port city in southern Peru, with some 67,000 inhabitants. It is the second city in the Moquegua Region and capital of the Ilo Province.
History
Before the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, the area was populated by the Chiribaya civilization. The Conquistadores were given land grants by Charles V and brought olives to this area. Olive agriculture was the main crop and source of work until the early 20th century. A small settlement, Pacocha, was established by the seashore where the Osmore River (Rio Osmore) flows into the Pacific ocean. High tides in the late 19th century flooded Pacocha and the population moved to Ilo's actual location, adopting its current name. Until the beginning of the 20th century most of the people lived along the banks of the Rio Osmore, whose waters flow sporadically during the summer months. Ilo was a port of call to the ships travelling from the east to the west coast of the United States via Tierra del Fuego. After the building of a pier in the 19th century, international trade flourished in the region. Italians, Chinese, Japanese and Germans settled in Ilo during this time. However, the building of the Transcontinental Rail Road and the Panama Canal caused commercial activities to decrease and mostly steamships transporting goods between Peruvian and Chilean ports remained. The Battle of Pacocha took place near Ilo.

Burundi (/bəˈrʊndᵻ/ or /bəˈrʌndi/), officially the Republic of Burundi (Kirundi: Republika y'Uburundi,[buˈɾundi]; French: République du Burundi, [buʁundi] or [byʁyndi]), is a landlocked country in the African Great Lakes region of East Africa, bordered by Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. It is considered part of Central Africa. Burundi's capital is Bujumbura. The southwestern border is adjacent to Lake Tanganyika.
The Twa, Hutu and Tutsi peoples have lived in Burundi for at least five hundred years. For more than 200 years, Burundi was an independent kingdom. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Germany colonized the region. After the First World War and Germany's defeat, it ceded the territory to Belgium. The Belgians ruled Burundi and Rwanda as a European colony known as Ruanda-Urundi. Their intervention exacerbated social differences between the Tutsi and Hutu, and contributed to political unrest in the region. Burundi gained independence in 1962 and initially had a monarchy, but a series of assassinations, coups, and a general climate of regional instability culminated in the establishment of a republic and one-party state in 1966. Bouts of ethnic cleansing and ultimately two civil wars and genocides during the 1970s and again in the 1990s left the country undeveloped and its population as one of the world's poorest. 2015 witnessed large-scale political strife as President Pierre Nkurunziza opted to run for a third term in office, a coup attempt failed and the country's parliamentary and presidential elections were broadly criticized by members of the international community.

UNITED NATIONS, July 15 -- Like many independent media, Inner City Press publishes its coverage not only on its website but on a number of third party platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Scribd and SoundCloud. YouTube is owned by Google, and like its parent allows publishes to monetize their material with advertisements.
But do YouTube and Google behind it engage in censorship?
This week, in the midst of Inner City Press' fight against the eviction of its shared office in the United Nations while it is asking questions about the Ng Lap Seng UN bribery case as relates not only to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon but also Under Secretary General for Communications Cristina Gallach, Inner City Press received emails from YouTube that its videos could no longer be monetized.
The emails said “We didn't approve your video(s) for monetization because the content in your video(s) or video details may not be advertiser-friendly.... Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown... We depend on our user community to flag inappropriate videos to us for our review.”
But they are video of questions and answers (sometimes) at the UN, of protests in the streets of New York, etc. Inner City Press has written, more than 24 hours ago, from to Monetization then to Press [at] YouTube.com:
“The videos you are saying are “not advertiser-friendly” are videos of media questions and answers with United Nations spokespeople and diplomats. They are news. The message sent yesterday and today said “you can request an additional review below” - this is a request for review. Look at the videos: they are Q&As; in the UN Press Briefing Room.
This is also a request to be informed if it was any complaint to YouTube / Google which triggered this denial of monetization, and if so if it came from the UN or any[one else.]

Pinoy Joyride - Iloilo Joyride 2015
Went for a short day tour to Iloilo City and enjoyed the sights and especially the food! Then check out the newest upcoming business park along Manduriao district and then visited the churches. It was a fantastic short day trip to Iloilo and seeing the old historic buildings made me appreciate preservation. I did not go into in depth details since I was hoping that personally visiting Iloilo is more worth it. The highlight of my trip was the Jaro Cathedral and Ayala land's Atria Park District. Went for a short day tour to Iloilo City and enjoyed the sights and especially the food! Then check out the newest upcoming business park along Manduriao district and then visited the churches. It was a fantastic short day trip to Iloilo and seeing the old historic buildings made me appreciate preservation. I did not go into in depth details since I was hoping that personally visiting Iloilo is more worth it. The highlight of my trip was the Jaro Cathedral and Ayala land's Atria Park District.

Burundi has been teetering on the brink of a civil war for the last year and a half. In 2015, president Pierre Nkurunziza announced that he would be taking on a third term - a notion that is illegal according to the constitution. The move is also in breach of the Arusha peace agreement of 2005 which ended a 12 year-long civil war that left 300,000 people dead.
The absence of independent media is a serious blow for the Burundian public who need information every day.

In protest, Burundians took to the streets in an attempted military coup. Not only did the coup fail, but the government responded in earnest, with a crackdown on local media. The move was well-studied, shutting down all independent radio stations under the guise of an accusation claiming they were allied with the opposition.
In a country where illiteracy and lack of internet access is rife, radio is the primary source of news - the government's radio embargo has hurtled the Burundian public into an information vacuum.
Stories going unreported include cases of mass murder, forced disappearances, torture, and a refugee crisis affecting more than 400,000 people.Even more worrying is the rise of divisive ethnic narratives in the national discourse.
"Burundi national radio and TV is a government owned medium, so it means politicians come and issue declarations... they say things which are controversial. These lead some people to believe that the public media is playing the role in fuelling the ethnic crisis," says Pierre Ngendakumana, English editor at Iwacu newspaper.
Like Rwanda, Burundi’s ethnic makeup is majority Hutu, minority Tutsi. And given the role that the media - especially radio, such as in Rwanda - plays, many Burundians fear their state media outlets may turn a political crisis into an ethnic dispute. The Listening Post's Johanna Hoes reports.

Thomas Perriello is calling for urgent regional mediation to establish a peace process between the government and opposition groups to prevent further bloodshed.
The crisis began earlier this year when President Pierre Nkurunziza ran for a controversial third term in office and won. That led to months of protests and violence, including an attempted coup.
The United Nations says at least 240 people have been killed since April.

Over 150,000 people have fled the small Eastern African nation of Burundi since political strife, intimidation, and unrest have plagued the country in recent months. Many of those migrants have sought refuge in neighboring Rwanda. Nearly 30,000 civilians are now living in Mahama refugee camp, one of the largest UNHCR camps built since the crisis began in April 2015.
A large number of activists, journalists, politicians, and opposition leaders have also fled Burundi for their own personal safety, settling in Rwanda's capital, Kigali.
