A blue moon is an additional full moon that appears in a subdivision of a year: either the third of four full moons in a season, or a second full moon in a month of the common calendar.
The phrase has nothing to do with the actual color of the moon, although a literal "blue moon" (the moon appearing with a tinge of blue) may occur in certain atmospheric conditions: e.g., when there are volcanic eruptions or when exceptionally large fires leave particles in the atmosphere.
The term has traditionally referred to an "extra" moon, where a year which normally has 12 moons has 13 instead. The "blue moon" reference is applied to the third moon in a season with four moons, thus correcting the timing of the last month of a season that would have otherwise been expected too early. This happens every two to three years (seven times in the Metonic cycle of 19 years). The March 1946 issue of Sky & Telescope misinterpreted the traditional definition, which led to the modern colloquial misunderstanding that a blue moon is a second full moon in a single solar calendar month with no seasonal link.
Blue Moon is a now defunct fanzine dedicated to Peterborough United. It was originally called Blue Moon is a Man City song for F**k sake, but the name was changed in the 2005/06 season.
Like many football clubs in 1980's Peterborough's United fans turned to the printed media in order to express their feelings at how their club and football in general was being run. The result was The Peterborough Effect (TPE), the name was taken from the slogan of the Peterborough Development Corporation. The TPE continued throughout the 1990s and was last published in the 2000-2001 season. For a brief period the Posh had no fanzine until the launch of "Blue Moon is a Man City Song for f**k sake" in the 2003-04 season. The name is taken from the popular song Blue Moon which is traditionally played at the end of Posh home matches. The song is also sung by Manchester City fans and thus not considered to be a Peterborough song. During the 2005/2006 season the ownership, and the main writing team, changed to The PLC.
"Blue Moon" is a song written, produced and performed by Beck, issued as the lead single from his twelfth studio album Morning Phase. The song is the musician's first release on Capitol Records (after leaving his previous label, Geffen Records). The song was nominated for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance at the 57th Grammy Awards. Beck has performed the song on Ellen and Saturday Night Live.
No official music video was created for the song; however, a video featuring the song's audio was created to coincide with the single's physical release.
The song has received positive reviews from critics. Kory Grow of Rolling Stone, while comparing the song's melody to material from Beck's 2002 album Sea Change, called the song "anything but desolate", as well as "lush". Leonie Cooper of NME called the song "one of the most captivating things Beck has ever composed".
Moby is the debut studio album by American electronica musician Moby, released in July 1992 by record label Instinct.
The song "Go" samples "Laura Palmer's Theme" from Twin Peaks, as well as the titular vocal from the song "Go!" by Tones on Tail.
The album's song "Thousand" also holds the Guinness World Record for having the fastest beats-per-minute (BPM) tempo, clocking in at approximately 1,000 BPM, hence its name.
Moby was released by the New York-based independent label Instinct Records on July 27, 1992. The album was issued without Moby's cooperation, with Moby stating that "all the songs are at least a year old. It's not entirely reflective of where I'm coming from right now" and that "the label had the legal right to put it out, the best thing for me to do is view it as more a retrospective and get on with life".
The album was released in 1993 in UK as The Story So Far, with a different track lineup and slightly different cover art, which incorporates the different title.
18 is the sixth studio album by American electronica musician Moby released in 2002. The most successful single from the album was "We Are All Made of Stars", which reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart. A notable single on the album is "Extreme Ways" which appears on The Bourne Identity. The album features guest appearances by Azure Ray, MC Lyte, Angie Stone, and Sinéad O'Connor. A collection of the album's B-sides and video footage was released a year later on 18 B Sides + DVD.
Critical response to the album was positive to mixed, with many critics feeling it was too much of a retread of his previous releases and lacked inspiration. The album debuted at number 1 in the UK and many other European countries. It also peaked at number 4 in the Billboard 200. 18 earned gold and platinum awards in over 30 countries, and sold more than five million copies worldwide, which was a respectable number for an electronica album, even though it didn't sell half as many copies as its predecessor Play.
The Marine Optical Buoy (MOBY) measures light at and very near the sea surface in a specific location over a long period of time, serving as part of an ocean color observation system. Satellites are another component of the system, providing global coverage through remote sensing; however, satellites measure light above the Earth's atmosphere, becoming subject to interference from the atmosphere itself and other light sources. The Marine Optical Buoy helps alleviate that interference and thus improve the quality of the overall ocean color observation system.
MOBY is a buoy 15 meters tall floating vertically in the water with approximately 3 meters above the surface and 12 meters below. A float canister is at water level, measuring approximately 2 meters high and 1.5 meters in diameter above the water, 1 meter in diameter below the water. Above the float canister are four solar panels and an antenna column. From the bottom of the float canister, a central column descends to a 2-meter-high, 1-meter-diameter instrument canister. Along the central column are three standoff arms measuring 3 meters long, 2.5 meters long, and 2 meters long, respectively. The standoff arms can be relocated up and down the central column during maintenance. Light collectors are at the ends of the standoff arms and at the top of the antenna column. The antenna column includes Global Positioning System (GPS), very high frequency (VHF), and cellular telephone antennas. Computers, communications, and control electronics occupy the float canister. A marine optical system (MOS), a power system, and batteries occupy the instrument canister. The MOS includes spectrographs with charge-coupled device (CCD) detectors, an optical multiplexer, and fiber optic sensor lines to the light collectors.

The murderess sleepsI am alone
like big drops of ink
my thoughts when I think
My hands leave me and walk the dark
the radio is trembling with me
naked I am
the moonlight paints me blue
I wish you were here
not this body beside
my collar is wet
avoid the streetlights
five steps to one
feels like I've seen too much
moths die in the light
Too much death all around, around me
I hear the cats scream
on the rainstreets below
it's not that strange
if I go insane
I see her from here
she's still where she fell
in shadow her face
it's not safe to sleep
I reach out for a luke cup of tea
about two in the packet, my hat is wet
outside it's raining
and I'm guarding my sheep
the smoke from my lips
my breath fouls the air
oak brown are the walls
I'm in a leather chair
I've got a big gun
but it rests with her
I need to think
oh help me blue moon
she's done nothing wrong
oh those dark halfclosed eyes
I guess all I need is less alibies and to cry
