Eng/Albanian/Nat
Forces fighting for autonomy for southern Serbia's province of Kosovo have vowed to continue their armed struggle.
In an exclusive interview with APTV, the commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army - or K-L-A - accused the European Union of ignoring the fierce Serb police crackdowns.
The ethnic Albanian fighters also said they could wait no longer for the outside world to decide their fate.
The countryside of Kosovo may look unspoilt - but it is a region teetering on the verge of greater violence than it has so far seen.
Vowing to continue to fight for autonomy for the province's majority ethnic Albanian population, a small, secretive militant group has taken up arms.
Calling itself the Kosovo Liberation Army (U-C-K in Albanian), its fighters say they will start by killing Serb policemen and collaborators - as this wounded Serb policeman knows.
The K-L-A's men have already carved out several no-go zones in the central region of Dreniza.
As a result, Serbian police are forced to hastily retreat or obliged to rush through their territories on trains.
Angered by what they call propaganda from Belgrade - which claims the K-L-A only kills civilians and defenceless urban police - the rebels agreed to speak to the media.
By talking to APTV, Captain Abie - an ethnic Albanian and a former member of the French Foreign Legion - broke the strict K-L-A law of not appearing on camera.
He insisted on showing the world what he said was evidence of Belgrade's latest heavy handed involvement in an alleged police mortar attack of a farm in the Dreniza region.
He added there was little need for him to say anything - the debris of the attack said it all.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"Are they a police force? I don't need to say talk, just look at it. The origin? The Europeans know it enough, from this side not far away 300 metres civilians are at home with children - you can see."
SUPER CAPTION: Captain Abie, KLA Special Forces
Abie's boss - Commander "Leopard" Ephraim - is a Catholic ethnic Albanian.
He is also a veteran of the Balkan war.
Although he was unprepared to reveal his identity - for fear of reprisals from the Serb police - he also agreed to be interviewed for the first time in the rebel group's history.
He said he no longer held out any hope that the international community would come to the aid of the ethnic Albanians.
Captain Abie translated on his behalf.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"When we see Europe forgetting us and we see diplomats sleeping or writing on their agendas there cannot be a tomorrow after months from conference to conference with enemy forces who don't understand talking and respect just fire for fire."
SUPER CAPTION: Captain Abie, KLA Special Forces, translating the remarks of Commander "Leopard" Ephraim, Head of the KLA Special Forces
Meanwhile, life is tough for the people of Kosovo.
Outside the main cities, there is no running water or electricity.
The Albanians make up 90 percent of the province's two (m) million population.
They say that their long peaceful push for freedom from Serb-run Yugoslavia is over.
Now they insist on nothing less than full independence - and make no secret of their determination.
SOUNDBITE: (Albanian)
"My family has been living here for over 100 years, with my grandfather and my father. We are not refugees, nor are we animals as the Serbs call us, we are on our land and if we die it will be for our country."
SUPER CAPTION: Antony, Farmer
Trying to stop the smuggling of the hundreds of Chinese-made Kalashnikovs from Albania is a major preoccupation for the Serb-Yugoslav army.
The main smuggling route is across the mountainous Albanian/Kosovo border.

Kosovo is not a typical travel destination but it is still worth a visit. The aim of this was to show very briefly a few places to visit if you were only there for a day. Other than the places to visit it also offers a rich cultural experience that makes a change from the more usual tourist hot spots.

Kosovo Travel Video - Everyone loves a newborn, and since 2008, when Kosovo declared independence, large letters spelling NEWBORN have graced a section of pavement in Pristina. The location, between the secure offices of the UN and a shopping mall featuring ubiquitous European clothing stores and a skyclawing crumbling concrete monument, tells it all. Kosovo is finding its feet. Staff from international organisations glam up Pristinas restaurants, cafes and bars, as do talented Kosovars who are taking their seats for the ride forward.
Barbs of its past are impossible to miss: roads are dotted with memorials featuring etchings of those killed in 1999. Kosovos modern architectural standouts may stand out for all the wrong reasons, but what the rebuilt country lacks in style, it makes up for with its mountain-backed towns, hiking opportunities and 13th-century Serbian monasteries, all no more than a couple of hours drive from its capital.

The Republic of Kosovo is situated in southeastern Europe. It is a self-declared independent state and has de facto control over most of the territory, while North Kosovo, the largest Kosovo Serb enclave, is under the control of institutions of the Republic of Serbia. Branimir Cvetnic likes to remember his hometown of Mitrovica for a multi-cultural industrial hub it once was, rather than a symbol of Kosovo's ethnic partition it has become.
Mitrovica, a former mining centre, split into Serb and Albanian parts at the end of the war in Kosovo in 1999.
The town's fate has come into renewed focus this week as officials from Serbia and Kosovo meet in Brussels in the hope of reaching an agreement that would also pave the way for uniting the divided city.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but Belgrade has refused to accept the split.
The Serb-populated northern Kosovo - some 30- to 50-thousand people - have rejected any authority of the ethnic Albanian government in Pristina, creating their own governing institutions, hospitals and schools, all financed and supported from the Serbian capital, Belgrade.
Serbia's bid for EU membership carries the condition of normalising relations with its former province.
In a sign the agreement may be near, a top Serbian leader said last week that the country "can no longer afford a frozen conflict."
Serbs warn that forcing Serbs and Albanians to live together against their will could lead to unrest, or a Serb exodus.
"If these negotiations end badly for us Serbs, as one the oldest families in this town, we will be probably forced to leave," said Cvetnic.
The ethnic division is clear in every corner of Mitrovica.

Many Kosovo Serbs are dismayed that former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic is not being given a state funeral.
The funeral of Milosevic, whom UN prosecutors accused of masterminding a string atrocities throughout the Balkan wars of the 1990s and who died last week at the UN tribunal in The Hague, is proving a contentious issue.
In the Serb enclave of Gracanica, just outside Kosovo's capital Pristina, supporters of Milosevic said their former leader should be given a hero's send-off.
"A man with dignity deserves to be buried like a president and the way they're treating him is unforgettable," said Gracanica resident Zvonimir Stevic.
It was in Kosovo that Milosevic shot to prominence, whipping up Serb nationalist fervour with a 1989 speech in Kosovo Polje, near Pristina, where Ottoman forces defeated a Christian army led by Serbian Prince Lazar in 1389.
And it was for alleged crimes committed during his crackdown on ethnic Albanian separatists in Kosovo that he was first indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal in 1999.
The tribunal eventually charged Milosevic with 66 counts of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo during the 1990s.
He was extradited to the UN court in June 2001 and had been on trial since February 2002.
The United Nations and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) have been running Kosovo since 1999, when the alliance bombed Serbia for 78 days to force it to end a crackdown against separatist ethnic Albanians and pull out the Serb troops.

STORYLINE:
NATO''s (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) Kosovo commander says the alliance has shelved plans for a troop reduction because of an upsurge in violence and lingering security threats in the country''s ethnically tense north.
Major General Erhard Buehler said in an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday that he does not think "there will be further reductions in the near future" in the peacekeeping mission, which was deployed to end the 1998-99 Kosovo war.
"We will certainly stick to the reduction plan, as we did during the last years, and the next reduction will come, but there is no timeline," Buehler said.
"We should not endanger the success of the KFOR mission and the success of the development here in Kosovo," he added.
The mission had planned to reduce by half its 5,000 NATO troops in Kosovo by the end of this year.
But a violent border dispute between Kosovo and Serbia last month forced the alliance to bring reinforcements in from Germany and Austria.
Buehler said he expected a heavy backlash when arresting Serb criminals in the north of the country.
"I mean heavy reaction in terms of demonstrations, roadblocks, denying freedom of movement for the troops, rhetoric and so on," he said.

Kosovo's NATO-led peacekeepers confronted crowds of angry Serbs on Thursday as they tried to remove Serb roadblocks in the volatile north of the country.
For nearly three months, Kosovo Serbs have been blocking roads to stop the ethnic Albanian leadership from extending its control over the part of the country populated mostly by ethnic Serbs.
The Serbs reject Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence from Serbia and consider the region a part of the larger Serbian nation.
After Kosovo Serb leaders refused NATO's demand to allow freedom of movement, the peacekeepers in riot gear moved in
at dawn on Thursday against hundreds of Serbs at roadblocks consisting of parked trucks, rocks, mud and logs.
A spokesman for the 5,500-strong NATO-led peacekeeping mission said he believed part of one roadblock was removed,
but could not give details because the operation was ongoing.
During the pushing and shouting between the two groups, the troops occasionally used pepper spray against the demonstrators, who sat down on the road some 10 kilometres (six miles) northwest of the divided town of Mitrovica.
Several dozen protesters sought medical help because of the tear gas, Serbian state TV said.
The peacekeepers used loudspeakers to urge the crowds to disperse or force would be used, while Serb leaders urged the demonstrators to remain peaceful. NATO's unmanned drones could be seen flying overhead.
During the standoff, Kosovo Serbs further enforced the barricades with additional logs and trucks.

Defiant Serbs in the north of Kosovo on Monday decided to stick by their barricades despite calls from Serbian president, Boris Tadic to allow free movement of EU and NATO troops in the area.
NATO's Kosovo Force (KFOR) commander, General Erhard Drews inspected his troops at the impasse as they prepare for final resolution of the barricade crisis in the north of the country.
The mayor of Zubin Potok, Slavisa Ristic stands by the barricades as the only viable form of non-violent protest available to the Serb people.
Meanwhile, Russian volunteers joined their orthodox brethren at the barricades, showing support for the Serb blockades of the main roads in Northern Kosovo.
On Monday they stood together singing songs and set up displays of religious icons.
Kosovo Serbs have been blocking roads to stop the country's ethnic Albanian leadership from extending its control over the part of the country populated mostly by ethnic Serbs.
Serbs reject Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence and consider the region a part of neighbouring Serbia.
The peacekeepers say they want to establish freedom of movement.
In July, ethnic Albanian authorities deployed their security forces to two border checkpoints in northern Kosovo to enforce a trade ban with Serbia.
Serbs reacted by blocking roads and triggering clashes with Kosovo police that left one police officer dead.
NATO-led peacekeepers were prevented by ethnic Serbs from pulling down the roadblocks on Saturday night.
Troops in full riot gear tried to push through three of the 16 roadblocks formed from vehicles, rocks, mud and logs.
But they were confronted by hundreds of Serbs who sat in the roads to stop the advance.
There were minor scuffles, but no force was used and no injuries were reported during the tense standoff.

NATO forces based in northern Albania have stepped up their preparations for a possible deployment over the border in Kosovo.
The troops getting ready in Kukes are there as part of AFOR, NATO's humanitarian contingent, but their role could soon change.
Preparations continued at this base in Kukes on Wednesday.
With an agreement looking close, these soldiers could soon be taking on a new role.
As part of AFOR, NATO's contribution to the aid effort, these soldiers currently have a mandate to help the many thousands of refugees who have flooded over the border.
But that could soon change.
They could soon be asked to cross the border as part of the force charged with implementing any peace agreement.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"We don't know exactly what our new mandate or our new task will be. But we believe we will be involved in the return of refugees to Kosovo together with UNHCR. And we will also be involved with infrastructure work within Kosovo.
Question: "So it's likely you will cross the border at some point into Kosovo?"
"At some point yes, but that has to be done in close cooperation with KFOR which will be the unit that will provide security."
SUPER CAPTION: Helge Eriksen, NATO Spokesman
The soldiers have already upgraded the improvised runway which on Wednesday saw the arrival of this aid flight from the United Arab Emirates.
The runway has been upgraded and is currently being tested for military use.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"Well it increases our capacity. On this airstrip you can land C-130s which is fairly big plane. It has been done by United Arab Emirates, not NATO or by Task Force."
(Question: But it can take military planes?)
"It can take military planes, we have seen that today it has been tested so it works OK."
SUPER CAPTION: Helge Eriksen, NATO Spokesman
Flights by large planes like this one could soon be a regular occurrence here.
As NATO prepares to move into Kosovo, this could become a major supply route while the Western forces help repair the province's infrastructure.

A convoy of Russian trucks delivering aid to Serbs in Kosovo has been held up at a border point between Kosovo and Serbia.
The convoy was supposed to arrive in the northern town of Mitrovica on Tuesday.
However an EU police convoy was stopped from reaching the area to escort the convoy because Serb protesters blocked their approach.
Many Serbs in Kosovo's north refuse to work with the EU police mission because they say it backs Kosovo's ethnic Albanian authorities.
Russia's ambassador to Serbia, Aleksandr Konuzin, was escorting the Russian aid convoy.
He hugged Serbs manning the barricades in apparent support of their continued defiance.
Konuzin also met with Krstimir Pantic, a Kosovo Serb leader, close to the border crossing.
The Russian diplomat blamed European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) for blocking the convoy and setting conditions for entry through a different crossing point, Merdare, where Kosovo customs are stationed.
For months, Serbs have dumped rocks and soil on roads coming from the ethnic Albanian dominated south to block Kosovo authorities from stamping their authority over the defiant northern strip bordering Serbia.
Tensions rose this summer after Pristina's botched attempt to send customs officials into the Serb area.
Since then Serb protesters have clashed with NATO peacekeepers and EU police, both seen by many Serbs as supporters of Kosovo's statehood.
Moscow has become the champion of the Serb defiance against Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence from Serbia.
The local Serbs are frustrated by Belgrade's refusal to use force to save them from ethnic Albanian rule.
The Kosovo Serbs have been desperately courting Moscow to press their sense of abandonment over Belgrade's enthusiastic pursuit of European Union membership, which could lead to Serbia dropping its designs on a territory it considers its spiritual homeland.

As quickly as NATO forces cleared roadblocks, Serbs in northern Kosovo erected new ones on Tuesday in Jagnjenica a day after the two groups were involved in violent clashes.
NATO peacekeepers then fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse Serb demonstrators, who continually emptied truckloads of soil onto the roads as they created new roadblocks in a conflict that shows no signs of ending.
Serbs consider NATO to be helping Kosovo's ethnic Albanians establish authority over northern Kosovo.
For months Kosovo Serbs have used soil, rock and concrete barriers to block roads in Kosovo's tense north following a decision by the government in
Pristina to extend its authority in areas under de-facto Serb rule.
But NATO has ultimate authority over the area and has warned it will not tolerate the barricades because they interfere with freedom of movement.
On Tuesday, Serbian President Boris Tadic weighed into the conflict and urged ethnic Serbs to lift the road blocks in Kosovo that have imperiled Serbia's
chances of becoming an European Union candidate country.
Tadic said the barricades "endanger the lives of people and do not defend a single national interest."
Tadic also urged NATO-led peacekeepers to halt their actions to remove the barricades.
Some 25 NATO soldiers and several dozen Serb protesters were wounded in clashes on Monday when the peacekeepers removed one of the barricades blocking a main road in the region.
The escalating tension comes only days before the EU is to decide whether Serbia should be granted candidate status.
EU officials have said Serbia must make progress in technical talks with the Kosovo government before Serbia can be given the status.
Serbia has refused to recognise Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence and Kosovo Serbs consider the northern regions they control to be part of
Serbia.

STORYLINE:
Kosovo authorities said on Thursday dozens of flights scheduled to depart the country's main airport in Pristina were cancelled due to heavy snowfall.
Days of heavy snow and freezing temperatures have delayed traffic and locked many people inside their homes in remote villages.
"We have very bad weather conditions and due to bad weather conditions we had a lot of cancellations today," said Valentina Gara, airport spokeswoman.
Meteorologists have predicted more snowfall in the coming days.
"A similar situation we've not seen here since '99 when we started working here," said Sherif Gosalci, head of the meteorological department at the airport.
But he insisted the weather was not anything unusual, describing the snowfall as "normal winter conditions."
Kosovo is one among many countries in the Balkan region and parts of central and eastern Europe that have been hit by adverse weather.
Classes have been cancelled in many schools in the snow-gripped regions.
Snow in Romania left hundreds of people stranded in cars, forced the cancellation of flights and appeared to derail a train.

STORYLINE:
Kosovo's civil emergency force on Thursday resumed clearing mines that were left scattered across the Balkan state after the 1998-99 war in the former Yugoslavia.
Since the end of the war, mines have claimed the lives of 114 people and injured over 450.
Snow and frozen ground had prevented the deminers from working over the winter.
The resumption came a day after International Mine Awareness Day which is marked by the United Nations to highlight the danger of cluster bombs and land mines used in conflicts around the world.
"We have been working here for two years now and have found and destroyed some 200 explosive ordinances from cluster bombs to shells and mortars rockets and other projectiles from 40 to 100 millimetres," Sgt. Bexhet Kodra, the head of one demining unit said in Krivovo.
Sgt. Kodra said the task has no end in sight as many mine fields remain across Kosovo but added that the dangerous job is rewarding.
"One cleared mine is one human life saved and that is no small thing," he said.
Kosovo is strewn with cluster bombs dropped by NATO during the 1999 bombing campaign as well as land mines planted by Serbian troops.
Some 4,500 such areas were registered in 1999 following NATO's 78 day bombing campaign that ended the war and stopped a brutal crackdown of Serb forces on ethnic Albanian separatists.

A Russian jet carrying paratroopers and airport technicians touched down at Pristina's airport on Saturday, the first airplane to land in Kosovo since NATO began its peacekeeping mission two weeks ago.
It was followed moments later by a French transport carrying equipment to help make the airport fully operational.
The 21 Russian paratroopers and 18 technicians will join about 200 Russian troops who seized the airport on June 12 after travelling overland from Bosnia.
A Russian transport plane touches down at Pristina airport.
It's a sign that Russia and NATO are getting over their rivalries and are beginning to work together in Kosovo.
Moments later a French plane landed at its side.
British General Mike Jackson, the NATO commander in Kosovo, was joined by his Russian counterpart Anatoly Zavarzin to welcome the new arrivals.
Russia plans to send about 3,600 peacekeepers to Kosovo to serve alongside a NATO-led force that will eventually include 55-thousand troops.
The Russians will join a peacekeeping mission that so far has been unable to curb unrest sweeping the province.
Ethnic Albanians have been seeking revenge for atrocities committed by Serb-led Yugoslav forces since President Slobodan Milosevic cracked down on Kosovo separatists in February 1998.
Russia, a traditional ally of Serbia, had demanded its own zone of control within Kosovo.
That was firmly rejected by NATO, which worried it would lead to a partition of the province.
Instead, a compromise was reached in which the Russians will be deployed in separate zones within three areas assigned to U-S, German and French peacekeepers.
Jackson said the Russian troops were valued reinforcements and he looked forward to more flights into Pristina.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"I believe this marks two things. Firstly the advance party of the Russian contingent and I am very keen to get every soldier I can at the moment. Secondly, and very importantly, the arrival of these aircraft this morning allow us to bring the process of bringing Pristina airfield into full use both for K-FOR and I hope in due course for humanitarian flights and indeed let us hope for commercial flights before too long."
SUPER CAPTION: Lieutenant-General Mike Jackson, Commander of NATO forces in Kosovo
Though the Russian defence ministry has been insisting Russian troops will take their orders only from Moscow, Zavarzin insisted that NATO would enjoy full cooperation from his men.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian with English translation)
"We will work in close coordination with NATO in order to fulfill our joint mission. Apart from that, you will be aware that yesterday the political decision makers in Russia took their decision to verify the peacekeeping contingent here from Russia in K-FOR in Kosovo. The most competent generals, officers and soldiers will be selected for this task in order that they can in a professional manner fulfill the tasks that are given to them."
SUPER CAPTION: Colonel-General Anatoly Zavarzin, commander of Russian troops in Kosovo
The planes that arrived on Saturday are the first of 12 flights - six Russian and six NATO - expected at Pristina's Slatina Airport over the next ten days.
The transports will bring technicians and equipment to make the airport fully operational for flights to ferry in humanitarian supplies and peacekeeping troops.

STORYLINE
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle visited German peacekeepers based in Kosovo's southwestern town of Prizren on Friday, wrapping up a tour of the Balkans.
Germany has 1,500 troops stationed in Kosovo and a German general is in charge of NATO's Kosovo force.
German peacekeepers at Camp Prizren welcomed his visit.
During his tour of the region, Westerwelle made stops in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
He pledged Germany's support for the region's ambition of becoming part of the European Union, but urged for former ethnic foes to settle their disputes through dialogue.
Earlier in Pristina, he said Serbia and Kosovo must engage in "direct talks" to settle their disputes and unblock their path toward membership in the European Union.
Germany was among the first countries to recognise Kosovo's secession from Serbia in 2008.

STORYLINE:
NATO says it has deployed over a hundred peacekeepers in Kosovo's north in response to violent incidents that have plagued the ethnically tense region.
But on Thursday a top Serbian official visiting the area said the move was a provocation.
Goran Bogdanovic, Serbia's top official for Kosovo, said: "This is a psychological propaganda war against the Serbs in the north of Kosovo. This is the execution of orders of the so-called state of Kosovo."
The Nato Kosovo Force (KFOR) spokesman, Captain Hans Wichtler, said peacekeepers were setting up checkpoints on the main road linking Kosovo and Serbia that runs through the Serb-dominated north to "search for weapons".
Wichtler added: "We are here... to provide a safe and secure environment, to control people who are suspicious, going out or in. We search for weapons. There are too many weapons here in the region. We have to seize them if we find them."
The effort comes after a series of violent incidents between the majority ethnic Albanians and minority Serbs last week.
But Bogdanovic said: "The consequences, I don't what they will be. The people here are very upset, very worried."

They are primarily those that are handled through police actions and in courts and the rules of law. So, the reduction in military force is happening, not a reduction... it's happening because the internal security of the country is being handled by the police force within the country."

NATO's commander for Southeast Europe said on Wednesday that the alliance would cut its force in Kosovo by almost a sixth within two years.
Admiral Mark Fitzgerald said at a news conference in Pristina that NATO was looking at keeping 2,500 peacekeepers in the country, a significant reduction from its current level of 14,000.
Fitzgerald also said that an initial "reduction of troop numbers to10-thousand could be achieved as early as January 2010."
He told reporters that Kosovo's challenges were "no longer military in nature".
He also said that the country's multiethnic police force was able to deal with internal security threats.
NATO has been gradually decreasing its military contingent in Kosovo ever since it deployed 50,000 troops to the province following a brief war with Serbia ten years ago.
On Thursday, defence ministers of NATO members announced the troop reductions at a meeting in Brussels in keeping with the improving security situation in Kosovo.

The documentary describes the situation in Kosovo, first in a short overview of the history of the area, followed by the 1990s conflicts and bombing of Serbia by NATO forces in 1999 and ending with the situation after the Kosovo War. The documentary focuses on 1990s in the time of Slobodan Milošević's rule as well as on numerous interviews of Serbian civilians and, less, of Albanian insurgents against the Milošević regime.
Although the Czech Television (Česká televize) had been one of the sponsors of the documentary, it delayed broadcasting it several times, claiming the documentary was "unbalanced" and marked with "pro-Serbian bias", and so "the tone of the documentary could cause negative emotions" Václav Dvořák, the director, responded that the same could be said for "Holocaust documentaries, where the Nazi Germany 'side' and 'views' were also appropriately ignored".
The documentary producer, Aleš Bednář, additionally stated that it wasn't ruled out that some viewers could feel it was "unbalanced", but only because they had been "lopsidedly informed about Balkan conflicts through years, above all by television, but by other media as well."
Its first broadcasting, scheduled for 17 March 2008, on the 4th anniversary of the ethnic clashes in Kosovo in 2004, was postponed until April, and was eventually broadcasted with a follow-up show analyzing the Kosovo conflict from the point of view of the Kosovo Albanians. The creators of the documentary published it on YouTube, where it is still available (as of September 2011). The film isn't listed on IMDb (as of November 2011).

There is no point in worrying about the erosion of personal freedom that is the reality of our present era if we can do nothing about it. They say that knowledge is power, but that is one of the greatest myths of all history. Knowledge without action is useless and leads only to apathy and despair. So the question is: what type of action can reverse this trend? Writing letters and signing petitions to the same people who have created the problem is not going to do it. Voting for candidates selected by power brokers with hidden agendas will not do it either. There have been many proposals to reverse the tide of totalitarianism but, after decades of effort, none of them have worked. In this address, G. Edward Griffin, Founder of Freedom Force, tells us why; and the reason is so simple, it will astound you. Once we clear away that single barrier, the plan for a pro-active counter-force falls quickly into place. This is the missing piece of the puzzle, the ultimate solution we have been seeking. Visit www.freedom-force.org
The solution is simple. It is to take back control of the power centers of society, one-by-one, just the way they were captured in the first place. Replace the collectivists with people who have no personal agendas except to defend freedom. This will unleash the vast human potential for prosperity and happiness that can be realized only in the absence of government oppression. However, to reach that goal, it will be necessary for those who cherish freedom to do more than complain and far more than just casting a vote every few years. They must reach for power. That is the reason for the motto of Freedom Force: Impotentes defendere libertatem non possunt, which is Latin for "Those without power cannot defend freedom."
