Mad Max Fury Road Lands Oscar Best Picture Nom, The Force Awakens Snubbed
Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies
Nominations for the 88th Academy Awards have been announced and we’re breaking it down right now on Clevver’s Trophy Life. Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by new Snickers Crisper – For New Kinds of Hunger. A New Kind of Snickers. The Oscars go mad for Max, but The Force is not strong for Star Wars. This year’s Oscar nominations once again brought us plenty of surprises and snubs and two of the biggest are perhaps the overwhelming love for Mad Max: Fury Road and the little amount for one of the biggest movies ever, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fury Road was second behind The Revenant for most nominations with 10 including Best Picture and Best Director for George Miller. The film also swept the technical categories, becoming only the fourth film in history to receive nominations in all seven categories along with Titanic, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Hugo. While The Force Awakens did manage to land five nominations including Best Film Editing, Original Score, Visual Effects, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing; it failed to land a Best Picture nomination despite the fact that there were two spots left open. The big winner of the day was of course The Revenant which led with 12 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio and probably most surprising, a Best Supporting Actor nom for Tom Hardy who has not been recognized at any of the other major award shows. Joining Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant in the Best Picture category are The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, The Martian, Room and Spotlight. Animated Feature Film noms went to Anomalisa, Boy and the World, Inside Out, Shaun the Sheep Movie and When Marnie Was There.
