Continuing education (similar to further education in the United Kingdom and Ireland) is an all-encompassing term within a broad list of post-secondary learning activities and programs. The term is used mainly in the United States and parts of Canada. Recognized forms of post-secondary learning activities within the domain include: degree credit courses by non-traditional students, non-degree career training, workforce training, formal personal enrichment courses (both on-campus and online) self-directed learning (such as through Internet interest groups, clubs or personal research activities) and experiential learning as applied to problem solving.
General continuing education is similar to adult education, at least in being intended for adult learners, especially those beyond traditional undergraduate college or university age. However, it is not normally considered to include basic instruction such as literacy, English language skills, or programs such as vocational training or GED preparation. Instead, as the term suggests, it is assumed that the student already has a college education and is simply continuing it.
Greenpeace USA is the United States affiliate of Greenpeace, an international environmental nonprofit organization.
Greenpeace was first founded in the United States in 1975, when Greenpeace San Francisco opened, followed by groups in Seattle, Portland, and Denver. In 1979, these offices merged into one entity to become “Greenpeace USA.”
Project Hot Seat was a campaign started by Greenpeace. Its goal is to pressure members of the United States Congress to implement policies to curb and cut greenhouse gas emissions, and what Phil Radford, Greenpeace Executive Director said was "going to be key to making the environmental movement into a viable political force in Congress and around the country."
Christopher Lee "Chris" Horner (born October 23, 1971) is an American professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Continental team Airgas-Safeway. A native and current resident of Bend, Oregon, Horner has dominated the American road racing scene by winning the points standings in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. He won the Vuelta a España in 2013, becoming the oldest winner of any of cycling's grand tours in the process.
Horner turned pro in 1995 with the PAA-NutraFig team. He captured his first major victory in a stage win of the Tour DuPont in 1996.
He was then asked to ride in Europe with French team Française des Jeux. From 1997 to 1999 he had three frustrating seasons with this team.
In 2000 Horner returned to America to resume a record-setting domestic career, riding with Mercury in 2000, Prime Alliance in 2002, Saturn in 2003 and Webcor Builders in 2004. Horner has won almost every important race in the US racing calendar, with the notable exception of the USPRO National Championships.
Global warming and climate change are terms for the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system and its related effects.
Multiple lines of scientific evidence show that the climate system is warming. Although the increase of near-surface atmospheric temperature is the measure of global warming often reported in the popular press, most of the additional energy stored in the climate system since 1970 has gone into ocean warming. The remainder has melted ice and warmed the continents and atmosphere. Many of the observed changes since the 1950s are unprecedented over decades to millennia.
Scientific understanding of global warming is increasing. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reported in 2014 that scientists were more than 95% certain that global warming is mostly being caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHG) and other human (anthropogenic) activities.Climate model projections summarized in the report indicated that during the 21st century the global surface temperature is likely to rise a further 0.3 to 1.7 °C (0.5 to 3.1 °F) for their lowest emissions scenario using stringent mitigation and 2.6 to 4.8 °C (4.7 to 8.6 °F) for their highest. These findings have been recognized by the national science academies of the major industrialized nations and are not disputed by any scientific body of national or international standing.

A CHANGED CLIMATE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE ON CAPITOL HILL (Part 2 of 2) Even before the election of Republican Scott Brown to Teddy Kennedys Senate seat, the cap and trade climate bill was in trouble in the Senate. According to John Passacantando, former director of Greenpeace USA, and now president of Next Economy LLC, thats not such a bad thing. Passacantando maintains that cap and trade was a classical piece of Washington pork that tried to buy off every interest group. He prefers the bipartisan approach of Senators Cantwell and Collins cap and dividend that is far simpler and offers economic rewards for climate-friendly behavior and punishes bad behavior. (Host: Mike Tidwell)

In today's world - one in which we generate as much data every two minutes as we generated from the dawn of man to the year 2003 - every institution is collapsing under complexity. With more information, data, and devices than they can manage, organizations spanning every industry are dealing with high rates of failure but are failing to adapt their problem-solving skills to this complex climate. An evolutionary biologist and provocative new voice in the mold of Thomas Friedman, Malcolm Gladwell, and Jared Diamond, Rebecca Costa understands that failure to adapt results in extinction. She applies this scientific tenet - adapt or die - to organizations to help them find ways to quickly adapt to this high-failure environment in order to not only avoid extinction, but to thrive.
