Hi Everyone!
This is my first time making a YouTube, I got a bit nervous & emotional but my intent is to give others HOPE, so please overlook my mistakes & delivery.
My Story in brief: (Book to follow)
Monday 16th December 2013 I had been complaining of a small niggling pain on my left side around my ribs for a few days but nothing too bad. I’d had an hour massage on the previous Friday so I thought that I was just feeling the after effects of that. As the days went on when I took a big deep breath I did have slight pain on my left side. So I got it checked out.
On Thursday 19th December 2013 an ED Doctor found a mass on my left lung after a chest X-Ray this was quickly followed by CT with contrast.
The ED Doctor came out & motioned for us to come into her office & sit down not saying a word. She opened the conversation with I’m so very sorry…..what?? I’m so very sorry. There appears to be a sizable mass in your left lung – what? What is it? Have you ever smoked? What? No? Never! The look on the Doctors face said it all. There seemed to be silence, just her looking at me & time seemed to be slowed down somehow. She kept saying sorry, sorry to give you this news so close to Christmas. What? She said she has contacted a Respiratory Registrar to come down to see me to book in for a biopsy of the mass. My head was spinning! I recall saying a number of times, what? No? What? I don’t smoke, I never have, what? Well we can remove it right? What? It’s like I could hear myself saying the same thing over & over but I couldn’t stop. But I’m so healthy. What? No?
It really did feel like she was talking about someone else. It didn’t feel real. I was thinking to myself, it will be fine, Doctors will operate & take it out somehow, and it will be fine.
But it wasn’t fine. After several attempts to biopsy the tumour, finally on Monday 13th January 2014 the Doctors were able to get a sample via a CT guided chest/lung biopsy through my back. The X-Ray taken 4 hours after to check the lung, showed a minor haemorrhage around the left lung mass & as a bonus they managed to give me a pneumothorax (partially collapsed lung).
Wednesday 15th January we got the results, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (adenocarcinoma) & a PET SCAN was booked to see if it had spread. As I was a non-smoker the Doctors were convinced that the lung would not be my primary.
Friday 17th January 2014 – PET SCAN. The lung was the primary, 5cm mass, 2 lymph nodes in the chest & one in the base of the neck, fluid around my heart, and cancer in the pleura or lining of the lung. The Doctors told me as it had spread to the lining of my lung & lymph nodes they classified me as stage IV Terminal Lung Cancer with a prognosis of 6-9mth to live.
Thursday 30th January 2014 1st chemo (5hrs)
Thursday 6th February 2014 2nd Chemo (1hour)
Friday 14th February 2014 we found out that the biopsy taken was EGFR positive mutation, so no more chemo, yah!
Thursday 20th February 2014 start TARCEVA 150mg tablets (Erlotinib)
Tuesday 25th February 2014 start juicing heaps of fresh cannabis leaves
Wednesday 26th February 2014 my Husband cooked 1st batch of cannabis oil
Sunday 20th April 2014 my Husband cooked 2nd batch of cannabis oil
Tuesday 22nd April 2014 we received cannabis oil from an experienced Medical Cannabis activist that was prepared to help
Tuesday 20th May 2014 we started experimenting with suppositories & eventually by mixing .5ml of organic coconut oil with .5ml cannabis oil in a 1ml syringe just straight up & in we call it ‘the backdoor method’. I believe that this was our break through & also with this method I experienced no ‘high’ & was able to have the full 1ml of cannabis oil per day as what was recommended for an aggressive cancer.
Wednesday 3rd September 2014 PET scan Conclusion: complete metabolic response. Residual non-FDG avid scar tissue in the left upper lobe corresponding to the site of the previously intense FDG avid primary malignancy. NO CANCER!!!
Yes, there is a lot more detail that I could go into but this is just a quick look at my year so far. I hope it helps someone if so, please let me know.
My Husband & I would like to thank all the amazing people from around the world that helped us on a Facebook Group Site called ‘Cannabis Oil Success Stories’. These people taught us all we know & helped save my life.

Cancer Warning Signs
Overview
Researchers have made large strides in the fight against cancer. Still, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) estimates that there will be an astonishing 1,658,370 new cases of cancer in 2015. From a global standpoint, cancer is also one of the leading causes of premature death. Sometimes it can develop without warning. For the majority of cases, however, there are warning signs. The earlier you detect possible signs of cancer, the better the chances of survival.
Most Common Cancers
According to the NCI, the following cancers are the most prevalent in the United States:
bladder cancer
breast cancer
colon cancer
leukemia
lung cancer
melanoma
non-Hodgkins lymphoma
pancreatic cancer
prostate cancer
thyroid cancer
The precise symptoms can vary between forms of cancer. Furthermore, some cancers, such as those of the pancreas, may not cause symptoms right away. Still, there are some telltale warning signs to look out for.
Weight Changes
As cancer cells attack healthy ones, your body may respond by losing weight. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), many undiagnosed cancer patients unexpectedly lose 10 pounds or more. In fact, this may be the very first sign of cancer.
Unexplained weight loss can happen in other health conditions, such as hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Still, the difference with cancer is that it can come on rather suddenly. It is most prominent in cancers of the:
esophagus
lung
pancreas
stomach

Smokers have trouble breathing because smoking damages the lungs. If you have asthma, you can have more frequent and more serious attacks. Smoking causes a lot of coughing with phlegm (mucous). Tobacco can cause emphysema (lung disease) and lung cancer.
While the nicotine versions caused worse damage, even the nicotine-free vapour was enough to alter cells.
Your lungs can be very badly affected by smoking. Coughs, colds, wheezing and asthma are just the start. Smoking can cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer. Smoking causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive lung disease, including bronchitis.
Marketed as a safer alternative to conventional tobacco cigarettes, electronic cigarettes could actually damage cells in ways that could lead to cancer, suggests new research. In laboratory tests, the researchers found that even nicotine-free versions of e-cigarettes could make human cells cancerous.
The walls of your lungs have many tiny bags (or sacs) that hold air. Cigarette smoke damages those sacs. When that happens, less oxygen gets into your blood, and you get out of breath and get tired more easily. Eventually, you can get a lung disease called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
“Based on the evidence to date, I believe they are no better than smoking regular cigarettes,” said one of the lead researchers Jessica Wang-Rodriquez, professor of pathology at University of California, San Diego, U.S. “Our study strongly suggests that electronic cigarettes are not as safe as their marketing makes them appear to the public,” the researchers said.
The research team created an extract from the vapour of two popular brands of e-cigarettes and used it to treat human cells in Petri dishes. Compared with untreated cells, the treated cells were more likely to show DNA damage and die. In the main part of the experiment, the team used normal epithelial cells, which line organs, glands, and cavities throughout the body, including the mouth and lungs.
The scientists tested two types of each e-cigarette: a nicotine and nicotine-free version. Nicotine is what makes smoking addictive.
There is also some evidence it can damage cells.
Smoking is harmful because there are many ingredients in tobacco smoke that can harm your body.
The main health risks from smoking are lung cancer, heart disease and stroke. Smoking causes almost 90% of deaths from lung cancer, around 80% of deaths from COPD, and around 17% of deaths from heart disease.
The team found that the nicotine versions caused worse damage, but even the nicotine-free vapour was enough to alter cells.
“There must be other components in the e-cigarettes that are doing this damage. So we may be identifying other carcinogenic components that are previously undescribed,” Ms. Wang-Rodriguez pointed out.
The team is now trying to sort out those other substances and their specific effects. There are nearly 500 brands of e-cigarettes on the market, in more than 7,000 flavours. So scientists have their work cut out for them identifying all the potential problems.
The study was published in the journal Oral Oncology.

http://www.rxwiki.com/news-article/lung-cancer-treatment-resistance-alk-inhibitors-may-restore-sensitivity-targeted-drugs
Teaching an old drug a new trick may not be so far-fetched.
Drugs designed to target the genetic mutations driving cancer growth have revolutionized cancer treatment. But in almost every case, the cancer eventually becomes resistant to these drugs and begins to grow again. To combat this resistance, patients are often switched to more powerful drugs.
In a new study, researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) reported the pattern of drug resistance in one lung cancer patient who was treated with multiple targeted therapies. When this patient developed resistance to her third targeted therapy, researchers found that her cancer’s sensitivity to the very first therapy used was restored. That drug was a first-generation ALK inhibitor called crizotinib (brand name Xalkori).

He is a dark bay tobano on the stock horse stallion mold. (I forgot his color when filming, sorry...)
A portion of the profits go to St. Jude children's research hospital, because his owner, Lauren has Lung Cancer.
I had a head cold when i did this review and did a review on the same day for Jessie and Pony Express, so my voice may be funky for those as well.
I really like this model, his coloring is great!
I renamed him Jigsaw Jester, you may use the name, but please give me some credit.

Over the past two decades doctors started noticing a trend in lung cancer: Patients coming to them who did not fall into a high-risk category.
“We see now more women, more younger people, and more non-smokers,” says Dr. Lowell Hart, an oncologist on medical staff of Lee Memorial Health System.
Lung cancer is usually linked with smoking. While it is still the top driver, experts can’t help but notice when 16-20 thousand people die of this disease each year who didn’t smoke. If non-smoking lung cancer had a separate category, it would rank among the top ten fatal cancers. This has ignited research to find out why.
“For the patients that haven’t been smokers, they more often will have a driver mutation. One gene goes bad in the lung tissue and drives the cancer,” says Dr. Hart.
The presence of a mutation driving many of these non-smoking lung cancer cases is leading to new research, new drug therapies and new success. Experts divide it into two distinct plans of attack, sometimes using both to their advantage.
“The exciting research in lung cancer is two aspects: one, getting the targeted treatment so that we can just hit that bad gene pathway. The other thing that there’s a lot of exciting research now is revving up your immune system to be able to recognize the cancer as abnormal and sort of reject the cancer,” says Dr. Hart.
Patients with non-smoking lung cancer have a better survival rate than patients who smoked. Likely due to not having other conditions associated with tobacco, as well the array of new drug treatments. Adding up to a new way of looking at lung cancer.
“I think that we hopefully turn it into more of a chronic illness where the patient is going to live years and not months like it was back 20 years ago,” says Dr. Hart.

We've all heard it: "You either filter or you become the filter." In this case, we're talking about our lungs.
Diesel exhaust is produced when an engine burns diesel fuel. It is a mixture of thousands of gases and fine particles that contain more than 40 toxic contaminants. These include many known or suspected cancer-causing substances, such as benzene, arsenic, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, and 1,3-butadiene. It also contains other harmful pollutants, including nitrogen oxides. Nitrogen oxides can damage lung tissue, lower the body's resistance to respiratory infection and worsen chronic lung diseases, such as asthma. They also react with other pollutants in the atmosphere to form ozone, a major component of smog.
The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) analyzed more than 30 studies of people who worked around diesel equipment, including truck drivers, railroad workers and equipment operators. The studies showed these workers were more likely to develop lung cancer than workers who were not exposed to diesel emissions. These studies provide strong evidence that long-term occupational exposure to diesel exhaust increases the risk of lung cancer. Using information from OEHHA's assessment, Air Resources Board (ARB) estimates that diesel-particle levels measured in California's air in 2000 could cause 540 "excess" cancers (beyond what would occur if there were no diesel particles in the air) in a population of 1 million people over a 70-year lifetime.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that vehicle emissions account for as many as half of all cancers attributed to outdoor air pollution. School bus particulate emissions sometimes exceed the federal standards by as much as ten-fold. Highways are recognized by scientific experts to act as three-dimensional corridors of air pollution containing many hazardous chemicals. What are our options on long car rides? We can leave the windows closed and deprive ourselves of oxygen while breathing in the off-gassing plastics and synthetics in the car and run the heater or AC which creates electrically dead air. Or we can crack the windows and allow toxic fumes to be inhaled.
This is one solution to allow us to breathe freely with the windows cracked, keeping our lungs safe and the mind sharp as we're driving down the highway, flanked by semi trucks and SUVs.

Lung cancers consists of Small Cell Carcinoma, Sqamous Cell Carcinoma, Adenocarcinoma and Large Cell Carcinoma. We will be reviewing Epidemiology, Pathology Pathophysiology, Clinical Signs and Symptoms, Investigations and Treatment/Management of Lung Cancer.
EPIDEMIOLOGY OF LUNG CANCER
Adenocarcinoma is the most common right now and is the most common. It is the third most common cancer and is the most common cause of cancer death.
RISK FACTORS OF LUNG CANCER
Smoking, Asbestos, Radiation, Arsenic Chromium, Nickel.
Genetics, Scar Formation (Wegeners, Fibrosis, Scleroderma)
Air pollution, HIV.
CLINICAL SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF LUNG CANCER
Pulmonary Symptoms, most common is cough, Hemoptysis (which ca lead to asphyxia) Chest Pain (dull achy), Dyspnea (secondary to pneumonia, atelectasis, lymphatic tumor spread, pleural effusion and pneumothorax), hoarsenes (when laryngeal nerve involved), pleural effusion (serous, serosangiounous, bloody) which may be caused by metastasis into pleural fluid. Super Vena Cava Syndrome occurs when central tumor invades SVC which causes red, edematous face, prominent veins throughout the body and this is more common in small cell lung cancer. Pancoast tumor is a lung cancer located in the apex of the lungs. Pancoast tumor may lead to thoracic outlet syndrome (pain weakness in arm and hand). Horner Syndrome causes miosis, anhydrosis and ptosis (MAP) and this is more common in Non Small Cell Lung Cancer.
Paraneoplastic syndromes are due to hypercalcemia (PTHrP) bone mets, calcitriol release, cytokine. SIADH causes increase water absorption leading to dilution hyponatremia, cerebral edema, anorexia, nausea vomiting. Resolves with chemo and treatment. Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS) is a condition with auto-antibodies of the calcium channels in the Neuromuscular Junction. Proximal Muscle weakness and rising and standing. Hematologic derangements such as anemia, leukocytosis, thrombocytosis and hypercoagulability. Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy may lead to digital clubbing, periositis, Arthralgia, Cushings due to release of Ectopic ACTH.
Metastasis symptoms occur when metastasis of lung cancer to liver, adrenal gland, Lung, Spine, Brain. Screen with PET-CT.
INVESTIGATIONS FOR LUNG CANCER
X-Ray may show a coin lesion. First step in management is to look at a previous x-ray and look for a sign of lung cancer on the old x-ray.
Cytology of the sputum, bronchoscopy, and percutaneous.
CT Scan and PET CT
Small Cell Lung Cancer
Oat cells look like small cells with little cytoplasm. All are of neuroendocrine origin (feyrter cells) on bronchus. Small Cell Lung Cancer is found central and has limited stage (Lung and 1 lymph node) Extended stage is spread beyond the lungs. Usually has early metastasis. May release ACTH, SIAD, Lambert eaton myasthenic syndrome.
Adenocarcinoma
Mucin and TTF-1 Positive type of Lung Cancer. Graded from low grade to high grade. Bronchoalverolar carcionma is in situ carcinoma and has better prognosis. Most common in Non-Smokers (BAC)
Squamous Cell Lung Cancer
Irritation of bronchus causing metaplasia, then dysplasia, then carcinoma in situ and finally lung cancer. Also associated with Keratin pearls and cavitation from central necrosis. Goes into hilar nodes and gets late metastasis. Asymptomatic and can be deteetd with sputum cytology.
Large Cell Lung Cancer
Lots of cytoplasm, unknown origin and is a waste basket column. Peripheral and has late metastasis and can use cancer.
TREATMENT OF LUNG CANCER
Small Cell Lung Cancer metastasizes early on and therefore surgery is not an option. Cisplatin, Carboplatin and vincristin is also used. Responds very well to chemotherapy. Prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) to prevent brain metastasis. Surgery is possible if the tumor is very small and no metastsis
Non Small Cell Lung Cancer is not responsive to chemotherapy or radiotherapy so surgery is the only option.

Non Small Cell Lung Cancer is not responsive to chemotherapy or radiotherapy so surgery is the only option.
