The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu and Jain temples in Madhya Pradesh, India. About 175 kilometres (109 mi) southeast of Jhansi, they are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India.The temples are famous for their Nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures.
Most Khajuraho temples were built between 950 and 1050 CE by the Chandela dynasty. Historical records note that Khajuraho temple site had 85 temples by 12th century, spread over 20 square kilometers. Of these, only about 20 temples have survived, spread over 6 square kilometers. Of the various surviving temples, the Kandariya temple is decorated with a profusion of sculptures with intricate details, symbolism and expressiveness of ancient Indian art.
The Khajuraho group of temples were built together but were dedicated to two schools of Hinduism and to Jainism - suggesting a tradition of acceptance and respect for diverse religious views among Hindus and Jains.

Chandela
The Chandela or Chandel is a Rajput clan in Central India. A section of the Chandelas which was also known as Chandela Dynasty ruled much of the Bundelkhand region of central India for long periods between the 10th and the 13th centuries. The Chandel dynasty is famous in Indian history for Maharaja Rao Vidyadhara, who repulsed the attacks of Mahmud of Ghazni. His love for sculptures is shown in the world heritage site temples of Khajuraho and Kalinjar fort.
In modern times, the Chandela Rajputs are found in large numbers in India and are Hindu as well as Sikh in their religious faith.
The word 'Chandela' is derived from the word 'Chandra', meaning the moon. Thus the Chandelas are said to be descendants of the moon and are part of the Lunar Dynasty of Rajputs.
History'
From the 9th century to the 13th century, the Chandelas ruled over central India. Their first capital city was Khajuraho, which was later shifted to Mahotsava Nagar or Mahoba. They are regarded to be Chandravanshi; i.e., the descendants of Soma (Sanskrit literal meaning: moon).

Apurvi Chandela
Apurvi Singh Chandela (born 4 January 1993) is an Indian shooter who competes in the 10 metre air rifle event. She won the gold medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and has expressed belief she can do the same at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Early life
She did her schooling from Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls' School,Jaipur.She studied Sociology honours from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University.
Family
Apurvi was born to a Chandela Rajput family in Jaipur. Her father is Kuldeep Singh Chandela, a hotelier, and mother is Bindu Rathore. Her family is from Udaipur.
Career
In 2012, Chandela won the gold medal in the 10 metres air rifle event at the National shooting championships in New Delhi, her first year in the senior circuit. In 2014, she won four medals at the Intershoot Championships at The Hague, that included two individual and two team medals. In the same year, she won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, having scored 206.7 points in final, in the process creating a new games record.

The Fort which was built in 1421 during the reign of Raja Bikram Chand is located on a hillock at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas affording a panoramic view of the Shivalik hills beyond the Sirsa river.
Nalagarh was ruled by the Chandela Rajputs who originated from Chanderi in the Bundelkhand region of central India. Raja Vijayendra Singh is the present ceremonial ruler of the Nalagarh.
Fort Nalagarh surrounded by endless acres of greenery, with all modern amenities is an ideal retreat away from the madding crowd of metropolitan cities. The Nalagarh Fort Resorts is a Beautiful heritage resorts in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is 60 kilometers away from Chandigarh.
