Here are 10 interesting facts about Albert Einstein.
Guess who: He was ridiculously smart, had crazy hair, and a knack for super-complicated science.
If you said Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, you're wrong, because that's two people.
The right answer is Albert Einstein.
Here are 10 interesting facts about the man.
Number 10. He was a ladies man. Einstein was married twice and in letters written over the years admitted to having 6 mistresses.
Number 9. Einstein died after refusing surgery. The physicist suffered an abdominal aneurysm in April of 1955. He was rushed to University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, but declined a potentially life-saving surgery. He said, "It is tasteless to prolong life artificially. I have done my share, it is time to go. I will do it elegantly." He passed away a day later.
Number 8. He took the time to respond to a child's letter. It wasn't an easy topic, either. The girl asked on behalf of her Sunday school class if scientists prayed. Einstein's well-penned response was truthful while simultaneously being respectful of religious belief systems.
Number 7. Einstein had a contract with his first wife. In addition to cleaning, laundry and cooking requirements, it excused him from all unnecessary social interaction. Silence upon demand was also a stipulation of their marriage -- hers not his. He vowed to just leave her alone in general. Notably, it was drawn up after their marriage had gone south anyway.
Number 6. Einstein may have had illegitimate children. Historians and possible progeny have come forward to attest to such, but solid proof has always remained elusive.
Number 5. He's among the top earning dead celebrities. Einstein is listed at number 8, coming in just after John Lennon and one step ahead of Bettie Page.
Number 4. J. Edgar Hoover wanted to kick him out of the US. Einstein's political views, which gravitated towards pacifism and socialism, prompted some to distrust him. Hoover thought the scientist was a spy and for years ordered agents to tap the man's phone, rifle through his trash, and even open his mail.
Number 3. Einstein turned down an offer to be President of Israel. The year was 1952, and the newly established nation was searching for a 2nd president. Though he declined, Einstein said that he was 'deeply moved' by the invitation.
Number 2. He preferred visualization over experimentation. When it came to forming his game-changing ideas, he would first imagine how his theories would play out, mathematical equations and all.
Number 1. He had a huge brain. Literally. Well, at least the corpus callosum part, which, when you're in the genius business, is key. It's the neural network that allows for all parts of the brain to connect and work in harmony.

We all know inventor, scientist and all around genius Albert Einstein was one successful guy, but what most of us don't realize is that it took a lot of hard work for him to get there. Einstein was a classic late bloomer and didn't come into the success that we all know him for until he was near middle age. Einstein's success is a story of perseverance and the belief that you have something to contribute to the world, no matter how many times others tell you that you don't. Let's take a look at some of the lessons today's business community can take from the life of one Albert Einstein.
Thinking outside the box
Einstein is well known for his incredible scientific theories that literally invented whole new fields of science, but what made Einstein such an incredible mind around his peers was the fact that he could look at a problem that had baffled scientists for generations and almost immediately look at the problem from a new perspective. He might not come up with the answer right away, but he could break start the journey down a new path. Today, we call this 'thinking outside the box.' While we may never accomplish something so grand, the ability to look at problems from new and interesting perspectives is incredibly valuable in today's workplace. Every day, businesses both big and small take on problems that they have been wrestling with for years, and if you can inject something new into that conversation, you will prove yourself to be an asset your company can't live without.
Don't ever give up
Just like Thomas Edison, success didn't come right away for Albert Einstein. He tried to forward some rough drafts of his scientific theories earlier on in his career, and they were either summarily ignored or brushed off as incomplete or just plain impossible. The truth is that most professors and "experts" who viewed his early work were likely terrified by it or they simply didn't have the capacity to understand it. Instead of giving up, Einstein went back to the drawing board and refined his theories. When he was done, they were simply irrefutable and are now known verbatim by most of the earth's population. This incredible commitment to his work should serve as inspiration to not only businessmen and women, but to anyone who has ever tried and failed at anything. Although we may never have an idea as grand as the ones he did, that doesn't mean we can't impact society with our work if we just try hard enough.
Sense of humor
Probably the best known picture of Einstein features him with his tongue out. It showed that even someone labeled the smartest person in the world can have a sense of humor and not take themselves so seriously. In the highly competitive world of business, it is extremely important to know when to push yourself away from your desk and have a good time. Besides, what good is the good life if you are constantly at work?

Time travel is a staple of science fiction stories, but is it actually possible? It turns out nature does allow a way of bending time, an exciting possibility suggested by Albert Einstein when he discovered special relativity over one hundred years ago. Colin Stuart imagines where (or, when) this fascinating phenomenon, time dilation, may one day take us.

[Reupload] The first episode of "Who's Better?" matches Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, two of the most well-known scientists throughout the world. Learn about their childhoods, their careers, and their discoveries in this video!
[Side note: I did not include everything I found about the scientists. On the original video, a lot of comments were put up about lack of info; that video I truly felt that I did not put enough effort into. In this video I have compiled only the most important info about each scientist so do not comment that I missed some small detail.]

Albert Einstein 14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist and philosopher of science. He developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). He is best known in popular culture for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"). He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect". The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory.
Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought that Newtonian mechanics was no longer enough to reconcile the laws of classical mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field. This led to the development of his special theory of relativity. He realized, however, that the principle of relativity could also be extended to gravitational fields, and with his subsequent theory of gravitation in 1916, he published a paper on the general theory of relativity. He continued to deal with problems of statistical mechanics and quantum theory, which led to his explanations of particle theory and the motion of molecules. He also investigated the thermal properties of light which laid the foundation of the photon theory of light. In 1917, Einstein applied the general theory of relativity to model the large-scale structure of the universe.[7]
He was visiting the United States when Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933 and, being Jewish, did not go back to Germany, where he had been a professor at the Berlin Academy of Sciences. He settled in the U.S., becoming an American citizen in 1940.[8] On the eve of World War II, he endorsed a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt alerting him to the potential development of "extremely powerful bombs of a new type" and recommending that the U.S. begin similar research. This eventually led to what would become the Manhattan Project. Einstein supported defending the Allied forces, but largely denounced the idea of using the newly discovered nuclear fission as a weapon. Later, with the British philosopher Bertrand Russell, Einstein signed the Russell–Einstein Manifesto, which highlighted the danger of nuclear weapons. Einstein was affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, until his death in 1955.

Albert Einstein - Theory of General Relativity - FULL AudioBook - Quantum Mechanics - Astrophysics - General relativity, or the general theory of relativity, is the geometric theory of gravitation published by Albert Einstein in 1916 and the current description of gravitation in modern physics. General relativity generalizes special relativity and Newton's law of universal gravitation, providing a unified description of gravity as a geometric property of space and time, or spacetime. In particular, the curvature of spacetime is directly related to the energy and momentum of whatever matter and radiation are present. The relation is specified by the Einstein field equations, a system of partial differential equations.
The predictions of general relativity have been confirmed in all observations and experiments to date. Although general relativity is not the only relativistic theory of gravity, it is the simplest theory that is consistent with experimental data. However, unanswered questions remain, the most fundamental being how general relativity can be reconciled with the laws of quantum physics to produce a complete and self-consistent theory of quantum gravity.
Einstein's theory has important astrophysical implications. For example, it implies the existence of black holes—regions of space in which space and time are distorted in such a way that nothing, not even light, can escape—as an end-state for massive stars.

Here's an extraordinary recording of Albert Einstein from the fall of 1941, reading a full-length essay in English:
Einstein begins by sketching a brief outline of the development of language, before exploring the connection between language and thinking. "Is there no thinking without the use of language," asks Einstein, "namely in concepts and concept-combinations for which words need not necessarily come to mind? Has not every one of us struggled for words although the connection between 'things' was already clear?"
Despite this evident separation between language and thinking, Einstein quickly points out that it would be a gross mistake to conclude that the two are entirely independent. In fact, he says, "the mental development of the individual and his way of forming concepts depend to a high degree upon language." Thus a shared language implies a shared mentality. For this reason Einstein sees the language of science, with its mathematical signs, as having a truly global role in influencing the way people think:
"The supernational character of scientific concepts and scientific language is due to the fact that they have been set up by the best brains of all countries and all times. In solitude, and yet in cooperative effort as regards the final effect, they created the spiritual tools for the technical revolutions which have transformed the life of mankind in the last centuries. Their system of concepts has served as a guide in the bewildering chaos of perceptions so that we learned to grasp general truths from particular observations."
Einstein concludes with a cautionary reminder that the scientific method is only a means toward an end, and that the welfare of humanity depends ultimately on shared goals.
"Perfection of means and confusion of goals seem -- in my opinion -- to characterize our age. If we desire sincerely and passionately for the safety, the welfare, and the free development of the talents of all men, we shall not be in want of the means to approach such a state. Even if only a small part of mankind strives for such goals, their superiority will prove itself in the long run."
The immediate context of Einstein's message was, of course, World War II. The air force of Einstein's native country had only recently called off its bombing campaign against England. A year before, London weathered 57 straight nights of bombing by the Luftwaffe. Einstein had always felt a deep sense of gratitude to the British scientific community for its efforts during World War I to test the General Theory of Relativity, despite the fact that its author was from an enemy nation.
"The Common Language of Science" was first published a year after the radio address, in "Advancement of Science" 2, no. 5. It is currently available in the Einstein anthologies "Out of My Later Years" and "Ideas and Opinions" (Source: Open Culture").
wn.com/Albert Einstein Reads The Common Language Of Science (Full Version, 1941)

Black Holes & Wormholes - New Documentary
Black holes are a phenomenon predicted by Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, which was published in 1916. In fact, the idea of a black hole was proposed as early as 1783 by the amateur British astronomer John Michell (and independently by the Frenchman Pierre-Simon Laplace in 1795).
Ironically, Einstein himself did not believe in the existenc

The brain of physicist Albert Einstein has been a subject of much research and speculation. It was removed within seven and a half hours of his death. The brain has attracted attention because of Einstein's reputation for being one of the foremost geniuses of the 20th century, and apparent regularities or irregularities in the brain have been used to support various ideas about correlations in neuroanatomy with general or mathematical intelligence. Scientific studies have suggested that regions involved in speech and language are smaller, while regions involved with numerical and spatial processing are larger. Other studies have suggested an increased number of glial cells in Einstein's brain

Ironically, Einstein himself did not believe in the existence of black holes, and he strongly resisted the idea, even though his own theory predicted them. The general scientific consensus is now that black holes do in fact exist, and that they are actually one of the most important features of our universe. Astronomers have detected them indirectly in enough different ways that there is little doubt of their existence.
A black hole (the phrase is usually credited to the American physicist John Wheeler in 1967, and is certainly a distinct improvement on the original label of “gravitationally completely collapsed objects”) is a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing, including electromagnetic radiation such as visible light, can escape its pull - a kind of bottomless pit in space-time.

At its centre lies an infinitely small, infinitely dense singularity, a place where the normal laws of physics break down. As the comedian Steven Wright once remarked: “Black holes are where God divided by zero”.
Einstein’s work was also at the heart of the theory of wormholes, or “bridges” as he called them. The idea of a hypothetical topological feature of space-time that is essentially a short-cut through space and time, potentially linking widely separated parts of the universe (or even different universes), has been understandably much loved by science fiction writers over the years, although there is also much theoretical work to support them.
To better understand how black holes might be formed, a little background knowledge of the life cycle of stars is useful (which will be covered in the following section), as well as an understanding of general relativity and curved space-time (which is a separate topic in its own right).
