Fairchild Air Force Base (AFB) (IATA: SKA, ICAO: KSKA, FAA LID: SKA) is a United States Air Force base, located approximately 12 miles (20 km) southwest of Spokane, Washington.
The host unit at Fairchild is the 92d Air Refueling Wing (92 ARW) assigned to the Air Mobility Command's Eighteenth Air Force. The 92 ARW is responsible for providing air refueling, as well as passenger and cargo airlift and aero-medical evacuation missions supporting U.S. and coalition conventional operations as well as U.S. Strategic Command strategic deterrence missions.
Fairchild AFB was established in 1942 as the Spokane Air Depot. It is named in honor of General Muir S. Fairchild (1894–1950). A World War I aviator, he was the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force at the time of his death.
The 92d Air Refueling Wing is commanded by Colonel Charles "Brian" McDaniel. Its Command Chief Master Sergeant is Chief Master Sergeant Christian Pugh.
Fairchild is home to a wide variety of units and missions. Most prominent is its air refueling mission, with two wings, one active, the 92d Air Refueling Wing, and one national guard, the 141st Air Refueling Wing, both flying the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker. Other units here include the Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape school, medical detachments, a weapons squadron and the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency.
An air force, also known in some countries as an air army, is in the broadest sense, the national military organization that primarily conducts aerial warfare. More specifically, it is the branch of a nation's armed services that is responsible for aerial warfare as distinct from an army, navy, or a marine corps. Typically, air forces are responsible for gaining control of the air, carrying out strategic and tactical bombing missions, and providing support to land and naval forces.
The term "air force" may also refer to a tactical air force or numbered air force, which is an operational formation either within a national air force or comprising several air components from allied nations. Air forces typically consist of a combination of fighters, bombers, helicopters, transport planes and other aircraft.
Many air forces are also responsible for operations of the military space, intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), and communications equipment. Some air forces may command and control other air defence assets such as anti-aircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles, or anti-ballistic missile warning networks and defensive systems. Some nations, principally Russia, the former Soviet Union and countries who modelled their militaries along Soviet lines, have an air defence force which is organizationally separate from their air force.
An military airbase (sometimes referred to as a military airfield, military airport, air force station, air force base or short airbase) is an aerodrome used by a military force for the operation of military aircraft.
An airbase typically has some facilities similar to a civilian airport—for example air traffic control and firefighting. Some military aerodromes have passenger facilities; for example RAF Brize Norton in England has a terminal used by passengers for the Royal Air Force's flights by TriStar to the Falkland Islands. A number of military airbases also have a civil enclave for commercial passenger flights, e.g. Beijing Nanyuan Airport (China), Ibaraki Airport (Japan), Burlington International Airport (USA).
Some airbases have revetments, hardened aircraft shelters, or even underground hangars, to protect aircraft from enemy attack. Combat aircraft require storage of aircraft ordnance. An airbase may be defended by anti-aircraft weapons and force protection troops.

More footage then I have seen on the net on this subject. Mishap 24 June 1994, a B-52H of the 325th Bomb Squadron, 92d Bomb Wing The B-52 was just practicing; if he had crashed in a crowd at an air show the loss of life would be high. The B-52 did some low high speed passes over personnel area and flight line; if there was a failure, he could have possibly destroyed all the aircraft on the flight line (and equipment, buildings) or and killed a lot more personnel. I love aircraft and air shows and the US. I hate to see a bunch more rules, I ...
WARNING!!! This video contains actual crash footage. Viewer discretion is advised. The 1994 Fairchild Air Force Base B-52 crash occurred at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, United States, on June 24, 1994, when the pilot of a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, Arthur "Bud" Holland, flew the aircraft beyond its operational limits and lost control. The aircraft stalled, fell to the ground and exploded, killing Holland and the other three United States Air Force (USAF) crew members on board. The crash was captured on film and was shown repeatedly on news broadcasts throughout the world.[1] The subsequent investigation concluded that the chain of events leading to the crash was primarily attributable to three factors: Holland's personality and behavior, USAF leaders' delayed or inadequate react...
Please try to keep from using vulgarities and profanity. I feel we can make our points without using profanity. I have no problem with calling the pilot a jerk, however remember there can be children viewing this thread so try to keep suitable for public. July-7-2007 As far as I know is the first time this much of the video has been made readily available to the GP when I posted this on Youtube. ;) More footage then I have seen on the net on this subject. The U.S. has sent an Air Contingent of A-10C Thunderbolt II planes and HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, along with support personnel, to Clark Air Base in the Philippines. It is not yet clear how long the aircraft and airmen will remain at Clark, but future rotations are planned. The Warthogs, Pave Hawks, and airmen will remain at Clark “as long as both the Philippines and the United States deem necessary,” said Lt. Col. Damien Pickart, a Pacific Air Force spokesman. The Air Force detachment will be joining Navy P-8 Poseidon aircraft already at Clark, a major U.S. Military air base until it was closed in 1991. Clark was reopened to U.S. Forces in June 2012. The move could be interpreted as a counter to China's construction of military bases in the Spratly Islands, an area roughly 230 miles of...
This video is long but it goes into every feature of our room. I saw other videos that were only one minute long and didn't show exactly what we would be moving into so here is EXACTLY what to expect. This is the pet-friendly family TLF so I'm assuming we are in the older housing. If you are single or a family with no pets, I have no clue as to what you would get. Enjoy!

Fastest plane in the world speediest aircraft known to man or fastest jet in the world X-15. Fastest aircraft The North American X-15 was a hypersonic rocket-powered aircraft operated by the United States Air Force and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as part of the X-plane series of experimental aircraft. While the Blackbird Plane SR-71 was the fastest manned airplane ever made, the fastest manned aircraft is the North American X-15, a rocket plane that flew for the first time on June 8, 1959, launched from a NASA NB-52B mothership. On October 1967 it pulverized all records: 4,520 miles per hour (7,274 km/h). World’s fastest military aircraft in the world twelve test pilots flew the X-15. Among these were Neil Armstrong, later a NASA astronaut and first man to set foot o...
In this A-10 Warthog video of a training exercise, you’ll see the A-10 in action using its cannon (30mm GAU-8 Avenger), firing missiles ( AGM-65 Maverick) and dropping GBU bombs. The A-10 Thunderbolt II was developed in the early 1970s. Its official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt of World War II, a fighter that was particularly effective at close air support. It is affectionally called the Warthog or just Hog.
