Meanwhile, the paper's lead story quotes a poll suggesting that the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader has led to one in five people who backed Labour in May being more likely to vote Conservative at the next election. Its sister paper, the i, reports that junior doctors are threatening to strike over a proposed new contract that reduces their out-of-hours pay. The Department of Health wants to reclassify Saturdays and evenings as "plain time", instead of paying more than the standard rate. The Daily Express reports that Scotland Yard detectives have been given another £2m - enough for six months of investigations - to help in the search to find Madeleine McCann. The FT Weekend leads on accusations from the United States Environmental Protection Agency that carmaker Volkswagen deliberately dodged clean air rules by fitting some models with devices that detect when an emissions test is being carried out.
