In this brief video you can find seven little known facts about Bahrain.
More information about the video content bellow:
1. The Kingdom of Bahrain is actually an archipelago of 84 islands, sandwiched between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Bahrain is the smallest among the Arabian countries. The country is connected to Saudi Arabia via a 25 km long series of bridges and causeways, that costed 800 million dollars. Although small, it is one of the richest countries in the region, thanks to its oil production.
2. Bahrain World Trade Centre is the first skyscraper in the world to integrate wind turbines into its design. Each turbine is 29m in diameter and their capacity is 675kw of wind power production. The 240m-tall tower has won several international awards including the LEAF (Leading European Architects’ Forum) award for best use of technology in a large scheme.
3. Bahrain’s constitution guarantees religious freedom and there are several Christian churches (Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, etc.), a synagogue and a number of Hindu temples. The Bahraini ambassador to the US is a Jewish woman and to the UK a Christian woman.
4. There is a famous Mesquite tree called “Tree of Life” which is 400 years old and stands alone in the desert of Bahrain. The fact that the water source of the tree is not known attracts huge number of visitors.
5. 92% of the land in Bahrain is desert while only 2.82% of the total land is arable. Temperatures in the summer can be as high as 45 degrees Celsius. Despite this, Bahrain is one of the fastest growing economies in the Arab world.
6. Bahrain is thought to have been a Holy Land for the Sumerians. An ancient civilization, called the Dilmun once lived in this area, and in the Epic of Gilgamesh the land is described as a Garden of Eden, where there was no sickness, and people didn’t age, but walked naked in innocence.
7. Manama (meaning “place of dreams”) is the capital of Bahrain since 1921. In the 20th century, Bahrain's oil wealth helped spur fast growth and in the 1990s a concerted diversification effort led to expansion in other industries and helped transform Manama into an important financial hub in the Middle East, despite having only 157.000 residents. Manama was designated as the capital of Arab culture for the year 2012 by the Arab League.

Eric Draitser of StopImperialism.org appears on Crosstalk to discuss the war in Yemen. He points out the obvious hypocrisy of US policy as it champions legitimacy of the deposed government in Yemen, while rejecting the same concept in Ukraine. Draitser examines some of the primary motivations for both Saudi Arabia and the United States in this war, as well as the failures and distortions of the western corporate media. Also, he addresses some of the regional geopolitics, demonization of Iran, and much more.

STORYLINE
Turkey's prime minister stalked off the stage at the World Economic Forum red-faced Thursday after reproaching Israel's president over the Gaza offensive by saying "You kill people."
The packed audience, which included President Barack Obama's close adviser Valerie Jarrett, appeared stunned as Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Israeli President Shimon Peres raised their voices and traded accusations.
Peres was passionate in his defence of Israel's 23-day offensive against Hamas militants, launched in reaction to eight years of rocket fire aimed at Israeli territory.
Thirteen Israelis also died.
"Why did they fire rockets? There was no siege against Gaza," Peres said, his voice rising in emotion. "Why did they fight us, what did they want? There was never a day of starvation in Gaza."

STORYLINE
Arab leaders said on Wednesday that Palestinian divisions allowed Israel to carry out its devastating strikes on the Gaza Strip and were hindering any effective Arab response.
Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said that the offensive, which he called a terrible massacre, wouldn't have happened if the Palestinians were not divided between rival Hamas and Palestinian Authority leaders.
Israel on Saturday began hitting Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip in response to repeated rocket attacks against the south of the country.
Five days into the attack some 390 Palestinians have died, according to Gaza officials.
The Arab League met to present a united Arab response in the face of widespread outrage across the region.
Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa also urged the Palestinians to reconcile their long schism and called on the Arab nations to present a united stance.
At the top the meeting's agenda is an Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

Travel video about destination Yazd in Iran.
The ancient desert city of Yazd is located within the centre of the State Of Iran and is one of the country’s oldest cities, set like a string of pearls along the Kavir coast. It is also a centre for the followers of the Zarathustra faith, the pious predecessors of Islam who fled to the city to escape Arab persecution. A small square is situated in the middle of the Old Town district of Fahadan, flanked by historic buildings such as a prison where, according to legend, Alexander The Great held captive various Achaemenid dignitaries and which was later used as a school. The narrow streets of the historic Old Town mainly consist of mud-built buildings with partially covered corridors, domes and numerous wind towers. The maze of narrow streets in which several single-storey buildings are still inhabited has been designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The city’s largest water storage tank is dominated by six wind towers that capture the slightest breeze that in turn cool down the stored water. Nearby, Agh-E-Dolat A-Bad, the magnificent palace residence of Mohamma Taqui Khan Bafqi who was Governor of Yazd from 1747 A.D. Yazd is not only an ancient culture, it is also an Oriental dream!

Cairo (Arabic: القاهرة al-Qāhira) is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in the Arab World.[1] Nicknamed "The City of a Thousand Minarets" for its preponderance of Islamic architecture, Cairo has long been a center of the region's political and cultural life. Even before Cairo was established in the tenth century, the land composing the present-day city was the site of national capitals whose remnants remain visible in parts of Old Cairo. Cairo is also associated with Ancient Egypt due to its proximity to the Great Sphinx and the pyramids in nearby Giza.
Egyptians today often refer to Cairo as Maṣr (Arabic: مصر), the Egyptian Arabic pronunciation of the Arabic name for Egypt itself, emphasizing the city's continued role in Egyptian influence. Cairo has the oldest and largest film and music industries in the Arab World, as well as the world's second-oldest institution of higher learning, al-Azhar University. Many international media, businesses, and organizations have regional headquarters in the city, and the Arab League has been based in Cairo for most of its existence.
With a population of 6.8 million[2] spread over 214 square kilometers (83 sq mi), Cairo is by far the largest city in Egypt. With an additional ten million inhabitants just outside the city, Cairo resides at the center of the largest metropolitan area in Africa and the eleventh-largest urban area in the world.[1] Cairo, like many large cities in developing countries, suffers from high levels of pollution and traffic, but its metro currently the only on the African continent also ranks among the fifteen busiest in the world,[3] with over 700 million passenger rides annually.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. It has 136,000 items on display, with many more hundreds of thousands in its basement storerooms
Khan el-Khalili is an ancient shopping area, nothing less, but some of the shops have also their own little factories or workshops.
The suq (which is the Arabic name for bazaar, or market) dates back to 1382, when Emir Djaharks el-Khalili built a big caravanserai (or khan) right here. A caravanserai was a sort of hotel for traders, and usually the focal point for economic activity for any surrounding area. This caravanserai is still there, you just ask for the narrow street of Sikka Khan el-Khalili and Badestan.
The part of Cairo that contains Coptic Cairo and Fostat, which contains the Coptic Museum, Babylon Fortress, Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, many other Coptic churches, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and Amr ibn al-'As Mosque.
The Cairo Tower is a free-standing concrete TV tower in Cairo. It stands in the Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the Nile River, in the city centre. At 187 meters, it is 43 meters higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza, which stands some 15 km to the southwest.
Over the ages, and as far back as four thousand years, Egypt stood as the land where civilizations have always met.[citation needed] The Pharaohs together with the Greeks and the Romans have left their imprints here. Muslims from the Arabian Peninsula, led by Amr ibn al-A'as, introduced Islam into Egypt. Khedive Mohammad Ali, with his Albanian family roots, put Egypt on the road to modernity. If anything, the cultural mix in this country is natural, given its heritage. Egypt can be likened to an open museum with monuments of the different historical periods on display everywhere.

STORYLINE:
Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby said on Tuesday that the massacres taking place in Syria "amount to war crimes under international law".
Elaraby made the comments during a meeting with the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Nickolai Mladenov, at the League's headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
Elaraby spoke particularly of Aleppo, from where 200-thousand Syrians have fled over the past 10 days as the government trains its mortars, tank and helicopter gunships on neighbourhoods seized by the rebels.
The battle for Aleppo, Syria's commercial hub with around 3 million inhabitants, has now lasted longer than the rebel assault on the capital Damascus that regime troops crushed earlier in July.
Once a bastion of support for Assad, Aleppo is critical for both the regime and the opposition. Its fall would give the opposition a major strategic victory with a stronghold in the north. A rebel defeat, at the very least, would buy Assad more time.
Despite pledges by the government and opposition to implement the six-point peace plan for Syria brokered by Kofi Annan, a cease-fire never happened, and fighting has continued to escalate to a point where the conflict was recently declared a civil war.
For many diplomats and military experts, Annan's plan is all but dead.
Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Nickolai Mladenov, on Tuesday called on Syrian opposition groups to unify and agree on a leadership in preparation for a post-Assad Syria.
"I hope that we can see our friends in the Syria opposition organise more quickly to implement what under the auspices of the Arab league that they have achieved," Mladenov said. "This is the National Compact and the transition plan, because this will send a strong message to the people in Syria about the future of their country after the end of the Assad regime," he added.
Participants at a meeting of opposition groups in Cairo earlier this month (July) did agree on fundamental principles for a post-Assad Syria and a general outline to guide the opposition through a transitional period - but scuffles and fistfights during the session and a walkout by a Syrian Kurdish group visibly demonstrated the opposition's disarray.
The fighting in Aleppo stretched into its 11th day on Tuesday.
Despite regime claims of success and repeated forays by tanks and ground forces into rebel-controlled areas in the northeast and southwest of the city, the rebels appear to have held their ground,
prompting government forces to resort to more shelling by artillery and mortars. Rebel positions are also being attacked with helicopter gunships.
The Syrian government has defended its assault on Aleppo to the U.N., describing a city in the grip of "terrorist mercenaries" funded by Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, that are holding people hostage as human shields and committing "horrifying crimes."

The Western Sahara is a disputed territory in the Maghreb region of North Africa, bordered by Morocco to the north, Algeria to the extreme northeast, Mauritania to the east and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Its surface area amounts to 266,000 square kilometres (103,000 sq mi). It is one of the most sparsely populated territories in the world, mainly consisting of desert flatlands. The population is estimated at just over 500,000, of whom nearly 40% live in El Aaiún (also spelled Laâyoune), the largest city in Western Sahara.
Occupied by Spain since the late 19th century, the Western Sahara has been on the United Nations list of non-self-governing territories since 1963 after a Moroccan demand.[4] It is the most populous territory on that list, and by far the largest in area. In 1965, the UN General Assembly adopted its first resolution on Western Sahara, asking Spain to decolonise the territory. One year later, a new resolution was passed by the General Assembly requesting that a referendum be held by Spain on self-determination.
In 1975, Spain relinquished the administrative control of the territory to a joint administration by Morocco (which had formally claimed the territory since 1957) and Mauritania.[6] A war erupted between those countries and the Sahrawi national liberation movement, the Polisario Front, which proclaimed the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) with a government-in-exile in Tindouf, Algeria. Mauritania withdrew in 1979, and Morocco eventually secured effective control of most of the territory, including all the major cities and natural resources.
Since a United Nations-sponsored ceasefire agreement in 1991, two thirds of the territory (including most of the Atlantic coast line)[8] has been controlled by Morocco and the remainder by the SADR, strongly backed by Algeria.[9] Internationally, countries such as the United States and Russia have taken a generally ambiguous and neutral position on each side's claims, and have pressed both parties to agree on a peaceful resolution. Both Morocco and Polisario have sought to boost their claims by accumulating formal recognition, essentially from African, Asian, and Latin American states in the developing world. The Polisario Front has won formal recognition for SADR from 53 states, and was extended membership in the African Union. Morocco has won recognition or support for its position from several African governments and from most of the Arab League. In both instances, recognitions have, over the past two decades, been extended and withdrawn according to changing international trends.[citation needed] As of 2006, no other member state of the United Nations has recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara.

The difficulty is the numbers of the governments(representations) between the parties, that's what we are now tackling to reach a solution for it."
(Q: Did you reach any kind of solution?)
"Well the Lebanese will have to agree (on) something. We'll help the Lebanese but they have to agree about the numbers and about the unity government, not us."

"The secretary general of the Arab league will try sorting out participant's percentage in the government with both parliament majority and the opposition in order to reach a unified solution and this is very important. We need a unified stand not for the majority and not (in favour) of the opposition."

STORYLINE:
Arab foreign ministers on Sunday rejected Syria's demand that Hezbollah and its allies have greater representation in Lebanon's Cabinet, according to delegates at an emergency meeting in Cairo.
Participants at the Arab League meeting late on Sunday said the majority of ministers rejected Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem's request for a new formula for Lebanese politics.
Moallem had pushed for Hezbollah to have ten ministers in the next Cabinet - or one-third of the seats - which would effectively give the Hezbollah-led opposition veto power.
Two delegates at the meeting confirmed the information, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.
They spoke to The Associated Press by telephone, while the meeting was still under way.
Only Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Shalgam backed the Syrian proposal, the officials said.
Lebanon is embroiled in its worst political crisis since the end of its 1975-90 civil war.
Former President Emile Lahoud left office on November 23 without a successor, and parliament has so far failed to elect the army chief to replace him amid bickering between the parliament majority and the opposition.
At a news conference after Sunday's meeting, Arab League Chief Amr Moussa predicted further violence if Lebanon did not elect a new president by February 11 - a date set by the parliament speaker last week.
Earlier in the day, seven people were killed in Beirut during riots by opposition supporters protesting the government's rationing of electricity.
The Arab League chief put particular blame for the crisis on pro-Syrian groups in Lebanon, saying they intentionally held up the elections with new demands.
"The secretary general of the Arab league will try sorting out participant's percentage in the government with both parliament majority and the opposition in order to reach a unified solution and this is very important. We need a unified stand not for the majority and not (in favour) of the opposition," Amr Moussa said.
Moussa also warned that an Arab leadership summit scheduled for March 28 in Damascus might be put off if the Lebanese crisis remained unresolved.
It also calls on Lebanon to form a national unity government and adopt a new election law.

(Q: Did you reach any kind of solution?)
"Well the Lebanese will have to agree (on) something. We'll help the Lebanese but they have to agree about the numbers and about the unity government, not us."

7. SOUNDBITE: (Arabic) Amr Moussa, Arab League chief: (reading a document)

Morocco (Listeni/məˈrɒkoʊ/; Arabic: المغرب al-Maġrib; Berber: Muṛṛakuc; French: Maroc[Notes 1]), officially the Kingdom of Morocco,[4] is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Geographically, Morocco is characterized by a rugged mountainous interior and large portions of desert. It is one of only three countries (with Spain and France) to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. The Arabic name al-Mamlakah al-Maghribiyah (Arabic: المملكة المغربية, meaning "The Western Kingdom") and Al-Maghrib (Arabic: المغرب, meaning "The West") are commonly used as alternate names.
Morocco has a population of over 33.8 million and an area of 446,550 km2 (172,410 sq mi). Its political capital is Rabat, although the largest city is Casablanca; other major cities include Marrakesh, Tangier, Tetouan, Salé, Fes, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, Kenitra, and Nador. A historically prominent regional power, Morocco has a history of independence not shared by its neighbours. Its distinct culture is a blend of Arab, indigenous Berber, Sub-Saharan African, and European influences.
Morocco claims the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara as its Southern Provinces. Morocco annexed the territory in 1975, leading to a guerrilla war with indigenous forces until a cease-fire in 1991. Peace processes have thus far failed to break the political deadlock.
Morocco is a constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament. The King of Morocco holds vast executive and legislative powers, especially over the military, foreign policy and religious affairs. Executive power is exercised by the government, while legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of parliament, the Assembly of Representatives and the Assembly of Councillors. The king can issue decrees called dahirs which have the force of law. He can also dissolve the parliament after consulting the Prime Minister and the president of the Constitutional court.
Morocco's predominant religion is Islam, while the official languages are Berber and Arabic. Moroccan Arabic, referred to as Darija, and French are also widely spoken. Morocco is an influential member of the Arab League and a part of the Union for the Mediterranean. It has the sixth-largest economy in Africa.

Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi called on March 9 for the creation of a unified Arab force to battle the spread of Islamic extremist groups.
"There is an urgent need for the creation of a multi-purpose common Arab military force... able to intervene rapidly to fight terrorism and the activities of terrorist groups," Arabi told a meeting of league foreign ministers in Cairo.
He also stressed the importance of "cooperation in areas related to security protection and the exchange of information between Arab countries."
Arab League deputy chief Ahmed Ben Helli told reporters last week that the bloc's leaders are expected to focus on the creation of such a common force when they meet for its annual summit on March 28-29 in Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
He had said such a force was important as a "symbolic" show of deterrence at times of "conflict or disasters".
