RORO refers to cargo that is moved on its own wheels on and off ships, as opposed to cargo which is lifted using cranes. It includes heavy vehicles like tractors and bulldozers as well as private and commercial automobiles like cars, vans, buses and trucks.
This trend is supported by the growing number of vehicle registrations, revealed earlier this year by the Department of Vehicle and Drivers' Licensing at Abu Dhabi Police.

On the morning of 19 November 2013, ADPC officially welcomed MS EUROPA 2 to Zayed Port, celebrating a double first: the ship's maiden visit to Abu Dhabi and the first passenger arrivals of the new cruise season.
Officials from ADPC and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) welcomed the first-time guests with an official ceremony to mark the special occasion.
With a total of 75 scheduled vessel calls and more than 100,000 passengers from all over the globe, Zayed Port looks ahead to a promising five and a half month long tourist season, demonstrating its rising status as a world class cruise destination.
With the start of the new season, the first phase of the cruise terminal's development has now been successfully completed, offering new facilities and accommodation for two large cruise ships and one small vessel.

The Queen Mary 2 -- the world's largest ocean liner and the luxury flagship of the Cunard Line -- made its maiden call to Abu Dhabi today at the Port Zayed cruise terminal, signalling the UAE capital's increasing international status as a cruise liner destination.
On its first visit to Abu Dhabi, one of the key destinations on the Queen Mary 2's 2013 "World Voyage", the Cunard Fleet Commodore, Christopher Rynd, was welcomed to Abu Dhabi by the UK Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Dominic Jermey CVO OBE, Capt. Mohamed Al Shamisi, Executive Vice President, Ports, Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) and Nasser S. Al Reyami, Director of Tourism Standards, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.
Disembarking passengers were treated to a distinctly Emirati welcome reception, with cultural displays, bus tours of the city and performances of traditional Emirati dancing arranged on the quayside, organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.

From September 2012, the port's commercial traffic (excluding cruise ship business) was transferred to the newly built Khalifa Port.

Proving once more their mastery in creating powerful events even in unusual environments, mamemo productions recently concluded the historic inauguration ceremony of Khalifa Port last 12.12.12 inside the port island, 5kilometers from the Abu Dhabi shoreline.
Distinguished as the very first semi-automated port in the whole MENA region, Khalifa Port was inaugurated by the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Also in attendance were UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other members of UAE Royalty.
Sam Katiela, Managing & Creative Director and his team at mamemo productions conceptualized the whole event journey to the past, present and future of Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Ports Company as they moved the guests through the different areas of the event: the Reception Area/Majlis, the Grandstand, and the Dining Area.
Reflecting the innovation that is at the heart of Khalifa Port, Sam and his team unveiled a number of world-first innovations during this event, whose design was based on the requirements of official government protocol.
• The Room-In-A Room concept-- this elegant white room-in-a-room concept built inside a warehouse welcomed guests into a modern majlis reflecting the history of Abu Dhabi's ports through massive centerpieces. The new innovation of the white vaulted canopy made from stretched projection fabric created a glowing ceiling without direct lights as all lighting were hidden inside, giving a clean look and feel.
• The "Mega-Grandstand" -- the first- in-the-region temporary event structure with an integrated innovative rigging that raised the screens and the walls of the (38m x 24m x 15m) grandstand after His Highness' turned the inauguration wheel, giving all guests a spectacular view of the port in action
• The Tapestry -- mamemo invented the world's first application of this technology, The Tapestry, a massive 80m x 13.5m special feature wall where 48 larger than life printed banners (each one 13.5m x 5m) dropped down in precise choreography that matched the programmed movements of the automatic stacking cranes inside the terminal area. This created a spellbinding fusion of art and mechanics that fully captivated the audiences.
To communicate the strategic messaging of Khalifa Port, mamemo productions' in-house show production team created a powerful video in leading edge 3D animation which took the audiences through an amazing tour of the Port and its facilities through carefully crafted content, moving images and a special action film sequence shot using the latest production equipment, including the heli-mounted cineflex used in films such as Mission Impossible, and controlled by one of the leading operators in the world.
In a speech to the mamemo productions team, ADPC CEO Tony Douglas remarked, "I've watched the way all of you [at mamemo] work and have come to realise what you do is harder than what we do. There is no room for error whatsoever and you delivered spot on."

Khalifa Port features the latest technology and is designed to accommodate the largest ships. Apart from the EMAL berth which became operational on November 3rd 2010, infrastructure for Phase 1 of the port will be completed in Q4, 2012 with an initial capacity to handle of 2 million TEUs container traffic and 12million tons of general cargo annually. The late Sheikh Zayed was appointed as the representative of the Emirate's Ruler in the Eastern Region in 1946. Immediately after his appointment, he immersed himself in government affairs in Al Ain City, the region's administrative seat. Within two years he was considered a powerful figure in the region, characterized by his strong will and determination to reform. In addition, he became well-known for his skills as a listener and effective dispute mediator, which earned him the greatest respect of those around him. The late Sheikh Zayed was appointed as the representative of the Emirate's Ruler in the Eastern Region in 1946. Immediately after his appointment, he immersed himself in government affairs in Al Ain City, the region's administrative seat. Within two years he was considered a powerful figure in the region, characterized by his strong will and determination to reform. In addition, he became well-known for his skills as a listener and effective dispute mediator, which earned him the greatest respect of those around him. These were the traits which he later became internationally recognized for.
In August 1966, Sheikh Zayed acceded to the position of Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, a position which reflected the trust and respect he had gained following his success at initiating the development of Al Ain City during the 1950s despite meager resources. He then set the Emirate on its path of sustainable growth and development that has today become the gold standard for the entire region.
Sheikh Zayed is credited with pushing rising oil revenues into a substantial development drive to benefit all those living under his rule, as well as, establishing a new governmental structure that laid the foundations for the Emirate and the country today.
In 1971, the late Sheikh Zayed, working alongside the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the then Ruler of Dubai, pioneered the efforts that led to the UAE's establishment in December 1971, which politically consolidated the nascent nation in difficult circumstances. As an acknowledgement of his leadership, sagacity and his efforts, the late Sheikh Zayed was unanimously elected by his fellow Rulers of the Emirates to become the first President of the UAE, a title which earned him the local and enduring moniker of 'Father of the Nation'.
Sheikh Zayed was a man who understood that in order to build harmony, cohesion and solidarity among his people, he first needed to build their trust via constructive and personal interaction. He enjoyed getting out and meeting the local community, and was considered as a man of the people. He tasked his government with building capabilities in health, education and social welfare, seeing all UAE citizens as instrumental to the nation's collective success. This philosophy remains evident across the country today.
Economically, the late Sheikh Zayed successfully invested oil revenues in building a strong and cohesive economy, ranking the UAE among the region's most economically developed countries. Thanks to his vision, the UAE is now the GCC's second biggest economy after , the third largest in the Middle East and, according to many prestigious international reports, the most important financial and economic centre in the region. This is reflected in the standards of living of its citizens.
Internationally, the late Sheikh Zayed laid the foundations of a foreign policy, which is characterized by wisdom, moderation, balance, support for truth and justice, and maintaining a language of dialogue and understanding. This balanced foreign policy has become a hallmark of the UAE, both regionally and internationally. Sheikh Zayed was held in high regard by all Arab leaders, enabling him to act as a mediator on more than one occasion. He has also earned a reputation as an international humanitarian and philanthropist, supporting a number of causes across the world and again setting an enduring legacy.
Sheikh Zayed passed away on November 2, 2004. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed, succeeded him to the Presidency of the UAE and Rulership of Abu Dhabi, while His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, another of Sheikh Zayed's sons, was appointed the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Fruit du partenariat stratégique liant le Royaume du Maroc à l’Etat des Emirats Arabes Unis, cet établissement de soins, de formation et de recherches permettra d’améliorer l’accès aux services de santé de qualité, condition essentielle pour la réalisation d’un développement humain global.
L’hôpital SA Cheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al Nahyane, édifié à la préfecture d’arrondissement Hay Hassani, ambitionne de devenir un acteur majeur de la recherche médicale et de la formation initiale et continue du personnel de santé, grâce notamment à un partenariat avec l’Université Mohammed VI des sciences de la santé qui lui est contiguë.

Casablanca – SA Cheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, Prince Héritier d’Abou Dhabi, Commandant suprême adjoint des Forces armées de l’Etat des Emirats Arabes Unis, est arrivé, mardi après-midi à Casablanca, pour une visite officielle au Maroc à l’invitation de SM le Roi Mohammed VI.
A son Arrivée à Casablanca, SA Cheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane a été accueilli par SAR le Prince Moulay Rachid.
SA Cheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane est accompagné lors de cette visite d’une importante délégation composée, notamment de SA Cheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, représentant du gouverneur d’Abou Dhabi dans la région occidentale, SA Cheikh Nahyane Ben Zayed Al Nahyane, président du conseil des conservateurs de la Fondation Zayed Ben Soltane Al Nahyane des oeuvres humanitaires et de bienfaisance, SA Cheikh Saif Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, Vice-Premier ministre et ministre de l’Intérieur et SA Cheikh Abdellah Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, ministre des Affaires étrangères.
Un accueil officiel sera réservé à l’illustre hôte de SM le Roi à la place du Mechouar au Palais Royal de Casablanca.
Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI, que Dieu L’assiste, accompagné de SAR le Prince Moulay Rachid, et SA Cheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, Prince Héritier d’Abou Dhabi, Commandant suprême adjoint des Forces armées de l’Etat des Emirats Arabes Unis, ont procédé, mardi, à l’inauguration de l’Hôpital SA Cheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al Nahyane de Casablanca.
Fruit du partenariat stratégique liant le Royaume du Maroc à l’Etat des Emirats Arabes Unis, cet établissement de soins, de formation et de recherches permettra d’améliorer l’accès aux services de santé de qualité, condition essentielle pour la réalisation d’un développement humain global.
L’hôpital SA Cheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al Nahyane, édifié à la préfecture d’arrondissement Hay Hassani, ambitionne de devenir un acteur majeur de la recherche médicale et de la formation initiale et continue du personnel de santé, grâce notamment à un partenariat avec l’Université Mohammed VI des sciences de la santé qui lui est contiguë.

The biggest mosque in abu dhabi ,40000 people can praye.Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates .
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was the grand vision of late President of the United Arab Emirates , HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, His final resting place is located beside the same mosque.
The mosque was constructed from 1996 to 2007.It is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates andthe eighth largest mosque in the world.
The mosque site is equal to the size five football fields .The mosque is large enough to accommodate over 40,000 worshipers. The main prayer hall can accommodate over 7,000 worshipers. There are two smaller prayer halls, with a 1,500-capacity each, one of which is the female prayer hall.
There are four minars on the four corners of the courtyard which rise about 107 m in height. The carpet in the main prayer hall is considered to be the world's largest carpet made by Iran's Carpet Company .
The largest chandelier is the second largest known chandelier inside a mosque, the third largest in the world .The structure of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque has been inspired by Persian, Mughal and Moorish mosque architecture.

He was born in Liverpool and stood as a candidate for Leader of the Labour party against Gordon Brown in 2007 and again in 2010. In 1981, he was elected to the Greater London Council as a member for Hayes and Harlington. He became the Chair of Finance, responsible for the GLC’s budget, and was Ken Livingstone's deputy leader until 1985. From 1985-87, he was Head of the Policy Unit at Camden Borough Council, then Chief Executive of the Association of London Authorities from 1987 to 1995 and the Association of London Government from 1995-97.
Tony Travers is Director of LSE London, a research centre at the London School of Economics.

To see what I mean, join me on a nice ride on my beautiful satin black Custom 2009 Victory Vegas on a hot (temperature above 42 degrees Celsius - 107 plus F) Saturday morning in August 2013.
The ride goes from Downtown Dubai near Dubai Mall, heading west down Al Safa Street, then via Al Wasl Road down to Drydocks World by Port Rashid, then taking Jumeira Beach Road all the way south to Burj Al Arab, and at last driving back to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall area (downtown) via 12 lane Sheik Zayed Road.
If you see me violating traffic laws in this video, it is just illusions..

The United Arab Emirates was founded in December 1971, only a few years after oil reserves were discovered there. Nation building and the building of new city-states became intimately entwined. Modern architecture, though on the wane in the West, found itself active in the UAE, soon manifest as municipal, domestic and corporate projects. This spirit of a new future was crystallized in the opening of Dubai's Jebel Ali Port and World Trade Centre in 1979. However, in the accelerated time-landscape of the Gulf, this period often lacks national affection and is slowly being erased. Why?
