A senior US military official told the Associated Press that the US is “certain” that it was Russia that hit a Syrian army camp in the city of Deir ez-Zor, killing three Syrian soldiers. Yet, US officials refuse to publicly confirm that the US believes it was a Russian strike that hit the army camp on Sunday. This continues the trend of US officials making accusations through unnamed sources but refusing to comment or provide evidence publicly. RT's Gayane Chichakyan reports.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- An official familiar with the investigations says New York's attorney general is examining statements by Exxon Mobil and Peabody Energy to determine whether they deceived investors about climate-change causes and impacts.
The official says a subpoena was sent Wednesday to Dallas-based Exxon after a yearlong review of shareholder disclosures. The official wasn't authorized to publicly discuss the probes and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office sought similar documents on climate change from St. Louis-based Peabody in 2013.
A spokesman for Schneiderman declined to comment Thursday.
An Exxon spokesman tells The Associated Press the company received the subpoena and rejects the allegations it suppressed climate-change research.
Peabody says it continues to work with the attorney general's office regarding its disclosures.

Host Merrill Brown, director of the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University talks with Senior Vice President and Executive Editor of The Associated Press, Kathleen Carroll. Kathleen has built an extraordinary career as an editor, taking on assignments ranging from news editor at AP’s Newark bureau to business editor for the International Herald Tribune in Paris and then back at the Associated Press as the Washington Bureau news editor.
She’s now AP’s Senior Vice President and Executive Editor overseeing a staff of over two thousand journalists working in over one hundred countries. She is also a member of the Pulitzer Prize Board and is joining the School of Communication and Media board here at Montclair State this year. And in a journalism world in which women are shockingly underrepresented, Kathleen - running the editorial operation that sets the national news agenda - is the most powerful woman in American journalism and perhaps in the world.
