Saudi Arabia has declared a state of military alert in the southern border city of Najran as Yemeni tribal forces fire mortars inside the Saudi territory. People in Najran have been prevented from roaming around streets since a curfew was imposed. Reports say security forces took to neighborhoods in the city declaring the curfew by loudspeakers. According to activists, Saudi authorities have also cut off internet services in the city since Tuesday evening. The state of military alert comes as tribal forces continue firing mortars inside the region for a second consecutive day. The latest attacks have left at least one Saudi officer dead. Four Saudis including two officers were killed in similar attacks on Tuesday.

For the first time since the beginning of the Saudi invasion of Yemen, Yemeni tribal forces have fired mortar shells on Saudi Arabia’s border city of Najran. At least one Saudi officer was killed in the attacks. Captain Yasser al-Qahtani lost his life after mortar rounds fell on the city’s state buildings and military bases, leaving a number of casualties. Riyadh has declared a state of emergency in Najran and suspended all flights to and from its airport. There are also reports of fighting on the outskirts of Najran. On the ground in Yemen, Ansarullah fighters and allied army units have made their way into the southern port city of Tawahi. Meanwhile, Saudi warplanes carried out fresh airstrikes on several districts of Aden where fierce battles with supporters of the fugitive former president and extremist militants continue.

At least two people were killed in a mortar attack by Houthi fighters in Najran, after they reportedly fired mortars into Saudi Arabia from the territory of Yemen on Tuesday.
Five Saudi soldiers were reportedly captured by Houthi militants after the attack, which has severely damaged infrastructure, buildings and vehicles in the area. The footage shows parked cars with windows blown out, destroyed sidewalks, buildings penetrated with shrapnel and a devastated flat.

Najran region lies in the south west part of Saudi Arabia, near to the Yemeni border.
Najran, the Nagva Metropolis, history dates back to 4,000 years that unravels ancestral remnants of Arabian habitat, trade, livestock and agriculture. The archaeological town of Al-Okhdood (mentioned in the Holy Quran) is one of the most important archaeological sites in Najran region.
The monuments of the Najran area which lies between the Asir mountains in the West and Empty Quarter desert in the East, had historical importance politically as the Arabian kingdoms fought each other for power and control over the green oasis, the location of which is considered economically very important as it was a main pathway for one of the most important ancient commercial routes.

Najran (Arabic: نجران Naǧrān), formerly known as Aba as Sa'ud, is a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. It is the capital of Najran Province. Designated a New town, Najran is one of the fastest-growing cities in the kingdom; its population has risen from 47,500 in 1974 and 90,983 in 1992 to 246,880 in 2004 and to 1200000 in 2011. The population belongs mostly to the ancient tribe of Yam.
Due to its long history, the inhabitants of Najran are made up of many races, religions and backgrounds. Islam is the religion of all of the Najranis, with Ismaili Shia forming the plurality of the religious adherents. Hanbali, Shafii and Maliki Sunnis form the second largest ethno-religious group in the city, while Zaydi Shia froms the smallest ethno-religious group.
Najran in Arabic has at least two meanings. It is a term used to describe the wooden frame on which a door opens and is also a synonym for thirsty. Local tradition also has it that the land derived its name from the first man to settle in the area, Najran ibn Zaydan ibn Saba ibn Yahjub ibn Yarub ibn Qahtan.

Saudi Arabia has declared a state of military alert in the southern border city of Najran as Yemeni tribal forces fire mortars inside the Saudi territory. People in Najran have been prevented from roaming around streets since a curfew was imposed. Reports say security forces took to neighborhoods in the city declaring the curfew by loudspeakers. According to activists, Saudi authorities have also cut off internet services in the city since Tuesday evening. The state of military alert comes as tribal forces continue firing mortars inside the region for a second consecutive day. The latest attacks have left at least one Saudi officer dead. Four Saudis including two officers were killed in similar attacks on Tuesday.

Yemen's markets, once bustling with tourists, have been unusually quiet around this year's Eid al-Fitr.
Less visitors are coming to the country because of security concerns - and that means a loss of trade for the businesses who rely on them.
STORYLINE:
The Gate of Yemen.
Decorated with distinct geometric patterns, it is part of the old walled city of Sanaa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the past, tourists flocked to this part of the Yemeni capital, attracted by its unique visual character and welcoming locals.
But as violence continues to plague the poorest Arab nation, the Yemeni tourism industry is experiencing a slump.
Market vendors in old Sanaa say they're feeling the pinch.
Sales of traditional items, such as this jambiya dagger - a Yemeni symbol of masculinity - have slowed down to a trickle.
Ali Bishr, who sells silver and jewellery, says the number of tourists visiting the old city has gone down.
"Tourism, for us, greatly affects our work, and our work has decreased by at least two thirds. Our trade has decreased, because the silver trade was largely here for tourists who come from abroad to buy silver and other things," he says.
Yemen's economy has already been battered by an ongoing war against rebels in the south and an intense US-backed offensive against an al-Qaida offshoot in much of its lawless hinterland and several cities.
There has been a noticeable absence of security forces throughout the country, including at popular tourist sites and areas housing ancient antiquities.
The high security threat level has led to a number of western countries, including Britain and the US, to issue permanent advisories warning their nationals against all travel to Yemen.
A total of 104,000 tourists visited Yemen in 2013, less than half of what neighbouring Oman has drawn in recent years.
Tourism-related industries such as silversmiths, sellers of agate crystals, antique shops and translation offices are disappearing.
Abd Al Gabar Al Salawi, Undersecretary at the Yemeni Ministry of Tourism, claims the situation has not been helped by the government's policies.
"A lot of the acts of terrorism, instability, and kidnappings have affected tourism. And the government has not found any radical solutions to these problems. In the sense that this is the wrong sort of policy to deal with these incidents which affect tourism, such as ongoing despair, nepotism and the meeting of (terrorists') demands in unlawful ways," says Al Salawi.
Foreign travellers have been killed in bomb attacks in Yemen in recent years.
There have also been kidnappings and abductions, even in urban areas.
Tourism has also been affected by worsening political conditions since a popular uprising removed former president Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012.

Sales of traditional items, such as this jambiya dagger - a Yemeni symbol of masculinity - have slowed down to a trickle.
Ali Bishr, who sells silver and jewellery, says the number of tourists visiting the old city has gone down.
"Tourism, for us, greatly affects our work, and our work has decreased by at least two thirds. Our trade has decreased, because the silver trade was largely here for tourists who come from abroad to buy silver and other things," he says.
Yemen's economy has already been battered by an ongoing war against rebels in the south and an intense US-backed offensive against an al-Qaida offshoot in much of its lawless hinterland and several cities.
There has been a noticeable absence of security forces throughout the country, including at popular tourist sites and areas housing ancient antiquities.
The high security threat level has led to a number of western countries, including Britain and the US, to issue permanent advisories warning their nationals against all travel to Yemen.
A total of 104,000 tourists visited Yemen in 2013, less than half of what neighbouring Oman has drawn in recent years.
Tourism-related industries such as silversmiths, sellers of agate crystals, antique shops and translation offices are disappearing.
Abd Al Gabar Al Salawi, Undersecretary at the Yemeni Ministry of Tourism, claims the situation has not been helped by the government's policies.
"A lot of the acts of terrorism, instability, and kidnappings have affected tourism. And the government has not found any radical solutions to these problems. In the sense that this is the wrong sort of policy to deal with these incidents which affect tourism, such as ongoing despair, nepotism and the meeting of (terrorists') demands in unlawful ways," says Al Salawi.
Foreign travellers have been killed in bomb attacks in Yemen in recent years.
There have also been kidnappings and abductions, even in urban areas.
Tourism has also been affected by worsening political conditions since a popular uprising removed former president Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012.

Saudi fighter jets have pounded Hasbah neighborhood in Sana’a province, killing at least 10 civilians. Earlier, warplanes struck Ibb province, leaving over a dozen people dead. 1. The Kingdom of Bahrain is actually an archipelago of 84 islands, sandwiched between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Bahrain is the smallest among the Arabian countries. The country is connected to Saudi Arabia via a 25 km long series of bridges and causeways, that costed 800 million dollars. Although small, it is one of the richest countries in the region, thanks to its oil production.
2. Bahrain World Trade Centre is the first skyscraper in the world to integrate wind turbines into its design. Each turbine is 29m in diameter and their capacity is 675kw of wind power production. The 240m-tall tower has won several international awards including the LEAF (Leading European Architects’ Forum) award for best use of technology in a large scheme.
3. Bahrain’s constitution guarantees religious freedom and there are several Christian churches (Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, etc.), a synagogue and a number of Hindu temples. The Bahraini ambassador to the US is a Jewish woman and to the UK a Christian woman.
4. There is a famous Mesquite tree called “Tree of Life” which is 400 years old and stands alone in the desert of Bahrain. The fact that the water source of the tree is not known attracts huge number of visitors.
5. 92% of the land in Bahrain is desert while only 2.82% of the total land is arable. Temperatures in the summer can be as high as 45 degrees Celsius. Despite this, Bahrain is one of the fastest growing economies in the Arab world.
6. Bahrain is thought to have been a Holy Land for the Sumerians. An ancient civilization, called the Dilmun once lived in this area, and in the Epic of Gilgamesh the land is described as a Garden of Eden, where there was no sickness, and people didn’t age, but walked naked in innocence.
7. Manama (meaning “place of dreams”) is the capital of Bahrain since 1921. In the 20th century, Bahrain's oil wealth helped spur fast growth and in the 1990s a concerted diversification effort led to expansion in other industries and helped transform Manama into an important financial hub in the Middle East, despite having only 157.000 residents. Manama was designated as the capital of Arab culture for the year 2012 by the Arab League.

He said Yemeni fighters have launched a new phase of using strategic options in their war against Saudi Arabia. They also shelled several military sites in southern Saudi Arabia. Inside Yemen, Ansarullah fighters killed 25 militants fighting for Saudi Arabia and captured several others in the southern Ta’izz province. Meanwhile, Saudi warplanes launched airstrikes on Ta’izz. Riyadh’s relentless onslaught on Yemen has killed over 7200 people since late March.

Imam Muhammad Al Asi previously led the daily and Jum'ah prayers inside the Masjid. His speeches were inspiring, revolutionary and thought provoking, and eventually irritated and threatened the Middle-East Ambassadors who control the Masjid. Finally, the Imam, his family, and other Muslims faithful to the course of Islam were forced out, into the streets. This khutbah originates from the sidewalk across the street from the Islamic Center, currently under seige.
He is also the author of the first-ever tafseer of the Qur'an - titled : The Ascendant Qur'an- written directly in the English Language. The Qur'an gained popularity with a wide variety of Muslims, justice seeking groups and sinister rulers. However, this has led to translations and interpretations that fit the different agendas of these wayward rulers and often has meant drifting far from the original meaning of the words. Imam Asi attempts to reverse this trend and in my analysis of his struggle, he has deliberately set out to evacuate these covert assailants on Islam's mission who distort or completely alter the message that the Qur'an actually transmit.
