HALO | UNSC Home Fleet: Battle for Earth
[
Epic CG Animation]
The Battle of
Earth was the largest engagement fought between the
Covenant and the
UNSC. It took place on and above the planet Earth and across the
Sol System from
October 20,
2552 to
November 17. The UNSC
Home Fleet consisted of 3 fleets of 90
Halcyon and Valiant-class cruisers, 8 carriers, and
300 Frigates, 30 destroyers, and thousands of Longsword Interceptors.
The Prophet of
Regret arrived out of slipspace with the
Fleet of
Sacred Consecration - 2
Assault Carriers and 13 CCS-class battlecrusiers.
Regret's fleet converged on the Home Fleet, and when in range received heavy fire from the
Orbital Defense Platforms orbiting Earth.
Fleet Admiral Harper intended to engage his fleet, but received orders from
Lord Hood to defend the
ODP's.
The Covenant boarded at least three ODP's and internally demolished them with an antimatter charge. The 2 Assault Carriers eventually broke through, but one was destroyed by their own antimatter charge from the
Master Chief. Regret's Assault
Carrier came to a stop over
New Mombasa, while the rest of his fleet engaged the Home Fleet over the Orbital
Defense Grid...

Finally finished this animation! This animation took the most effort by far, taking 4 hours to create 10 seconds of some of scenes. I started it a month ago, and I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out. There were still a few problems that might have been noticed. To
point out one, to the attentive eye it's fairly obvious which scenes were created first (the absence of the ODP's around earth in the earlier scenes :P). I think It had more epic moments than bland though, especially near the end.
Many thanks to my subscribers, you guys are the best. I always read your comments, and the idea for this animation actually came from a comment on one of previous animations (the
Halo 3 cutscene remake I think). Most video games (except
Mass Effect 3) have scenes where an epic space battle is taking place, but you never see it, or you only see a small skirmish in it. I wanted to show the full-scale engagement in all its glory (and its low framerate).
For those of you following the appearance of the banana, it makes 2 appearances (floating legs also make an appearance, though not intentionally :P). Also, I tried to make the credits a bit more interesting this time, let me know if you like these types of credits or not.
Thanks to my subscribers again, and If you haven't subscribed, please do! I don't have an animation planned in the next week or two but you can be sure to see one or two in June. If you have any ideas for an animation, shoot me a PM or tell me in the comments section below :)
