A surprising discovery was made in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do on July 8, 1971. From the tomb, several important national treasures were excavated, and moreover, it was the first ancient tomb that has been positively identified among the royal tombs from the Three Kingdoms Period in Korea. Baekje's 25th King Muryeong and his Queen were resting in this royal tomb. It was a moment that Baekje's splendid culture was finally awoken nearly 1,500 years later. What's more surprising was that the intricacy and aesthetical design of metal artifacts excavated from the tomb were so superb that they did not look like they were made 1,500 years ago. At the Royal Tomb of King Muryeong, visitors will be able to witness the god-given abilities of Baekje's artisans who were so skillful in dealing with metals, as well as Baekje's excellence in science and art.

South Korea Travel Video Guide: South Korea, formally the Republic of Korea is a country in East Asia. South Korea occupies the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, with North Korea to the north, China across the sea to the west and Japan a short ferry ride to the southeast.
Archeological finds of prehistoric toolmaking on the Korean Peninsula date back to 70,000 BC, and the first pottery is found around 8000 BC. Comb-pattern pottery culture peaked around 3500-2000 BC.
Legend has it that Korea began with the founding of Gojoseon (also called Ancient Chosun) by the legendary Dangun in 2333 BC. Archeological and contemporaneous written records of Gojoseon as a kingdom date back to around 7th-4th century BC. Gojoseon was eventually defeated by the Chinese Han Dynasty and its territories were governed by four Chinese commanderies. The political chaos following the fall of the Han Dynasty in China allowed native tribes to regain control of Korea and led to the emergence of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, namely Goguryeo, Silla and Baekje. Despite repeated attempts by China, namely the Sui Dynasty and later the Tang Dynasty, to conquer the Korean Peninsula, northern-based Goguryeo managed to repel them. Eventually, Goguryeo fell to a Silla-Tang alliance, which had earlier defeated Baekje. This unified Korea under the Silla dynasty. Even though Tang later invaded, Silla forces managed to drive them out, thus maintaining Korea's independence.
Unified Silla was replaced by the Goryeo (also called Koryo) dynasty, from which the modern name "Korea" derives. One highlight of the Goryeo dynasty was that in 1234 the world's first metal movable type was invented by a Korean named Choe Yun-ui (200 years before Gutenberg's printing press). Goryeo was replaced by the Joseon (also called Chosun) dynasty, after a coup by one of its generals. The Joseon dynasty ruled Korea from 1392 to 1910, being one of the longest actively ruling dynasties in world history. It was during the early part of the Joseon dynasty that Korean technological inventions such as the world's first water clock, ironclad ship, and other innovations took place. During the rule of King Sejong the Great, the world's first rain gauge was invented and the Korean alphabet known as hangul was created.

Olympic Park is an impressive leisure facility in which historic remains from the Baekje Era share space with modern state-of-the-art sports stadiums, an eco-friendly forest, and spacious grassy fields. A legacy of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the park not only houses the country’s largest sports arena, but has also become a place where Seoul residents come to relax and unwind.
Spread across 430,000 pyeong (approximately 1.45 million ㎡), Olympic Park encompasses the land that was once Mongchontoseong Fortress and Mongchonhaeja (manmade lake) from the early Baekje period. The park is divided into several zones, including a leisure sports park, a cultural art park, an eco-park, and the History Experience Park dedicated to the area’s rich historic heritage.
Because Olympic Park is so large and takes over three hours to explore, visitors are advised to familiarize themselves with entrances and exits and travel routes before they start. To further save time, visitors can ride the Road Train (“Hodori Train”) located next to the Peace Square.
* Cultural Art Park
The Cultural Art Park is a place where visitors can enjoy diverse cultural experiences and performances. The park also features the Olympic Museum, the Seoul Olympics Museum of Art (SOMA)—one of the world’s top five sculpture museums—and Music Fountain.
* Leisure Sports Park
This area is comprised of the Sports Square (walking/jogging paths, an acupressure path, inline skating area, etc.) and Peace Square (a pleasant area with a wide variety of activities and sports lessons).
* Environmental Eco-Park Persistent efforts have succeeded in restoring natural splendor to this place where a equally splendid civilization once blossomed. People and nature co-exist comfortably within the Environmental Eco-Park, which has become home to families of spot-billed ducks, white herons, cuckoos, pheasants, Korean squirrels, chipmunks, and frogs. More recent efforts to rejuvenate the local ecosystem have resulted in the appearance of woodpeckers and raccoons, both of which are rarely spotted in cities. The croaking of small round frogs can now be heard within the park as well.
* History Experience Park Visitors to the park can experience Korean history firsthand at the Mongchontoseong Fortress and the Baekje Museum, while hearkening back to the more recent, grand spirit of the Olympics in the ‘Holy Land of Peace.’

Seoul (Korean pronunciation: [sʌ.ul] ( listen)), officially the Seoul Special City, is the capital and largest city of South Korea. With a population of over 10 million, it is one of the world's largest cities.[1] The Seoul National Capital Area, which includes the major port city of Incheon and most of Gyeonggi-do, has 24.5 million inhabitants,[2] and is the world's second largest metropolitan area.[3] Almost half of South Korea's population live in the Seoul National Capital Area, and nearly a quarter in Seoul itself, making it the country's foremost economic, political, and cultural center. It is an important destination for immigrants to South Korea, with a rapidly growing international population of over 255,000.[4]
Seoul is located on the Han River in the center of the Korean Peninsula, and historically was settled in 18 B.C. when Baekje, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, established its capital in what is now south-east Seoul. The city then became the capital of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty and the Korean Empire. As the center of Korean history over the past millennia, the Seoul National Capital Area is home to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Changdeokgung, Hwaseong Fortress, Jongmyo Shrine and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty.[5]
Seoul's influence in business, international trade, politics, technology, education and entertainment all contribute to its role as a prominent global city.[6] It is considered to be an Alpha World City, ranking 9th in the 2008 Global Cities Index. Seoul is the iconic city of the Miracle on the Han River and hosted landmark international events such as the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 2002 FIFA World Cup and will be the host city of the 2010 G-20 Summit. It is one of the world's top ten financial and commercial centers,[7] home to some of the world's largest conglomerates[8] such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai-Kia. Seoul was Asia's most expensive city to live in 2007, and the third most expensive city worldwide.[9] With a GDP per capita of $31,095 in 2007, Seoul has a living standard comparable to France and Italy.[10][11][12] In 2008, Seoul was named the world's sixth most economically powerful city by Forbes.com, ahead of Paris and Los Angeles.[13]
Seoul is the 2010 World Design Capital and has one of the world's most technologically advanced infrastructures.[14][15] It is ranked first on the Digital Opportunity Index,[16] and its Digital Media City is the world's first complex for high-tech technologies, a test-bed for futuristic IT and multimedia applications, as well as home to the 133-floors, 640m supertall DMC Landmark Building, slated to be the world's second tallest building by 2015.[17] Seoul is the only city in the world featuring DMB, a digital mobile TV technology and WiBro, a wireless high-speed mobile internet service, as well as the world's fastest, most penetrated 100Mbps fibre-optic broadband network, which is being upgraded to 1Gbps by 2012.[18] Seoul Station houses the 350 km/h KTX high-speed rail and the Seoul Subway is the third largest in the world, with over 2 billion passengers every year.[19] Seoul is connected to Incheon International Airport via AREX, which is rated as the world's best airport by ACI since 2005.[20]

Japan Travel Yoshinogari Historical Park Ancient Japan...Kyushu, Saga01
The Yoshinogari Historical Park (Yoshinogari Rekishi Kōen) is a remarkable archaeological site in Saga Prefecture. The vast park covers a large settlement from the Yayoi Period (300 BC - 300 AD) where dozens of pit dwellings, elevated store houses and over 2000 tombs were excavated. It is the largest and most important Yayoi Period site in Japan, and the best place for people who want to learn about this era of Japanese history.
The settlements unearthed at Yoshinogari are believed to have been some of the largest moat surrounded villages of their time and are speculated to have been the seat of one of the earliest forms of state government discovered in Japan. Today the ancient site has been preserved with impressive reconstructed villages and visitors can explore and learn about Yayoi life and culture. The careful reconstructions include dozens of elevated store houses, pit dwellings, watchtowers, shrines and other structures, many of which can be observed from inside. Some contain tools and implements, while mannequins re-act jobs and ceremonies in others.
Of the reconstructed villages, the Minami Naikaku settlement placed at the center of the park which is one of the most important. Enclosed by moats and defensive walls, this is where the Yayoi Period kings were thought to have governed from. Nearby is an exhibition house displays tools and clothes of the Yayoi people as well as artifacts,explaining their agricultural techniques. Another section displays burial jars excavated around the site. The exhibitions include detailed English descriptions.
A short walk north is another important enclosed settlement called Kita Naikaku, which is a place for those who were involved in ancient ceremonies. Further north is another museum focusing on the ancient forest that covered the area two thousand years ago. A living center near the East Gate allows visitors to take part in hands-on activities (100 to 500 yen) such as stone carving and building a fire with a bow-drill.
Furthermore, the large park includes other recreational areas such as a sprawling open field where people can picnic and play sports, playgrounds, disc golf and miniature golf courses, and agricultural fields where flowers and various display crops are grown. There is a restaurant and souvenir shop.

Ancient Koreans who went to Japan during the Baekje Kingdom formed a fundamental part of Japanese culture. We call them ′doraein′, meaning visitor or arriver in Japanese.But now, there are newcomers, or the so-called ′new settlers′, who migrated to Japan 20 to 30 years ago to seek a new life.They are creating another Korean image in Japan by introducing Korean culture and foods.We take a look at the lives of these newcomers in Japan.

Played the devoted King of Goryeo, Wang-yoo, in drama ‘Empress Ki’ , An actor well received by the public, Joo Jin-mo!
After excellently portraying the devoted love of a King in a period drama he then traveled through time and portrayed a modern role of the same type of character. In his newest drama, ‘Beloved Eun-dong’, Joo Jin-mo plays the main character, Ji Eun-ho, who cannot forget about his first love . Today, he came to visit Hallyu World! After seeing him in person, I realized that he is completely different from the image he portrays in front of the camera. He frequently pops out unexpected jokes with a Joo Jin-mo style sense of humor.Let’s meet this eccentric celebrity now!

《成均館緋聞》其中大部分鏡頭都是在全州鄉校內拍攝的,還有《宮》和很多大型歷史劇《風之畫師》《龍之淚》《明成皇后》日韓合拍電視劇《彩虹玫瑰 Rainbow Rose》;
多部賣座電影,包括《逆鱗》《光海,成為王的男人/雙面君王》《登陸之日》《YMCA棒球隊》《千年鹤》;
This is a city with 1,250 years of history, and the only city in Korea that preserved hanok houses inside of the city, therefore Jeonju makes frequent appearances in TV dramas and films
Jeonju was once the capital for Baekje kingdom, and the birthplace of Joseon Dynasty. It has the largest hanok village in Korea, with more than 800 traditional hanok houses. This unique sight combined with the nearby modern buildings, gives off a feeling of traveling back in time.
GyeongGi Palace was built in 1410, more than 600 years ago, to enshrine the royal portrait of King Taejo (the founder of Joseon Dynasty) it now also enshrines the portraits of King Sunjong, Cheoljong, Yeongjo, and other kings.
Compare to other bustling cities, the traditional buildings here and the plants on the sidewalk, allow the visitors to calm down, listen, and feel the peacefulness inside of their hearts
Jeonju bibimbap was known as one of the three best delicacies in the Joseon Dynasty

Freedom guardians who risked their lives to help injured soldiers
Arirang TV has prepared a program about nurses and nursing officers who took care of wounded soldiers and civilians during the war on the Korean Peninsula. Their devotion and warm hearts made them the unsung heroines of the Korean War.
The devotion and love of white angels
These people risked their lives to save the lives of soldiers, who were like family to them. They put the soldiers′ needs ahead of their own, and did their utmost to help the wounded survive and recover. Even after half a century these nurses still cry.
Efforts of nursing officers dispatched worldwide
When the Korean War broke out, many countries sent their troops to help Korea. But the troops didn′t come alone - they were accompanied by nurses and nursing officers. Six nations including India, Italy and Norway sent their medics. The United States, which dispatched the most troops, also sent more than 500 nursing officers. The American nursing officers had to work under the same conditions as soldiers.
After the soldiers left following the cease-fire, the nurses stayed.
Their devotion continued even after the war.
After the Korean War, the Republic of Korea was completely ruined. Most of the soldiers returned to their home countries, but the nurses stayed in Korea. To them, the war was not over yet. They stayed to take care of wounded soldiers and war orphans. They believed that their duty was to help Koreans regain stability as soon as possible.
Korean nursing officers who carry on the spirit of Florence Nightingale in the world′s war zones
Sixty years after the end of the Korean War, Korea, a country with a tragic history, is contributing to establishing peace around the world. Korean nursing officers visit disputed regions in various parts of the globe to carry on the spirit of Florence Nightingale, just like the nursing officers from other countries did during the Korean War.
