Hundal (, ), also spelled as Hoondal or Hundle, is a Jatt clan, found in mainly in East Punjab (India) and West Punjab (Pakistan). They are fewer in number than other jatt clans but they are considered one of the most prominent jat clans because of their fierce nature and their royal ancestry. Hundal clan is one of the oldest jat clans. They are also found among the South Asian immigrant communities in the UK, US, Canada, Hong Kong and in other parts of the world.

Origin and History

Like many other Jat clans, Hundals claim descent from the Suryavanshi Rajputs; in other words a Suryavanshi lineage of Rajputs. It is commonly understood that the boundaries between Rajput and Jat clans are rather arbitrary and have changed over time. Most scholars thus subscribe to the view that Rajputs, Jats, Khatris and other groups of clans belong to the Kshatriya varna. Like others in the varna, Hundals are of deemed to be of Scythian stock.

Distribution

India

In Punjab, India, Hundals are believed to originate from the village of Bundala in Amritsar district. There are around ten villages surrounding Bundala spread out from Bundala over the time. Hundals are also located at Verka (Amritsar), Garhshanker (Hoshiarpur) and parts of Patiala and Jallandar Districts, believed to be originated from Bundala village over the time. In Ludhiana district, Hundals are located at only village Naraingarh near Khanna city.

In Haryana (India) major hundal villages are Ishargarh, Gohargarh, Dayalgarh and Jatt Dera near Khurdban village. Most of them arrived here from Mulanpur village near Sirhind in Punjab. Sardar Ram Narain Singh Hundal was one of the prominent jagirdar of the cis satluj jagir of Jagadhri and Dayalgarh. He was heir of Rai Singh 'Buriawala' who captured the fort at Dayalgarh from Aurangabadi Muslims in 1760s. The very famous families of Hundal live in Behloolpur 127/R.B Near in Sangla Hill. Gulzar Ali baba, Anwar Baba Hamyun Hundal are very prominent zameendar in this village.

Pakistan

In Pakistan, most of the families belonging to this gotra of Jats originate from a village called Behlolpur, near Qila Sobha Singh, Narowal District (Previously Sialkot District) and after the settlement in and around Faisalabad District, in a village of same name, Behlolpur, situated near Sangla Hill. Over generations, most families have emigrated to and settled in the bigger cities of Lahore and Faisalabad. According to 1911 census the Hundals were the principal Muslim Jat clan in Faisalabad District.

Religion

Most Hundals in India are Sikh, though there are some Hindus and Muslim. They embraced Sikhism at the time of Sikh guru's when they were living near Batala(Punjab).

Ralf Souquet (pronounced ''soo-kay'') (born 29 November 1968 in Eschweiler, Germany) is a German professional pool player. His nicknames are "The Kaiser" and "The Surgeon." Since 1981, he has won more than 250 tournament titles, including 41 German Championship titles and 34 European Championship titles.

He began playing billiards at the age of six in his parents' pub, practicing up to five hours per day. He won his first German Championship title at the age of fourteen in the juniors division. In 1985, Souquet co-won his first European Championship team title with the National Team, and in 1986 won his first individual title at the European Championship (juniors division). In 1997, he received the ''Silberne Lorbeerblatt'' (Silver Laurel Leaf), the highest official distinction awarded to sportspeople by Germany, which was presented to him by German President Roman Herzog.

In 1996, Souquet won the WPA World Nine-ball Championship where triumph over Tom Storm of Sweden. He also reached the finals of the same event in 2001 and 2006, only to be bested by Mika Immonen and Ronato Alcano.

Souquet also won the US Open Nine-ball Championship in 2002 by defeating Alex Pagulayan who would also win the event in the next three years.

In 2008, Souquet won his second world title at the WPA World Eight-ball Championship with a victory over Ronato Alcano (Alcano was also a winner of this event). Souquet won the $ 60,000 championship prize, with 13-9 final score.

Scott Andrew Frost (born January 4, 1975) is an American football coach. He played collegiately for Nebraska as a quarterback. He was drafted in the third round (67th pick) by the New York Jets and played six years in the National Football League as a defensive back with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

College career

Scott Frost started his college career at Stanford University. He attended Stanford for two years before transferring to Nebraska.

Frost started for Nebraska during the 1996 and 1997 seasons, going 11-2 and 13-0 respectively. In 1997, he was the starting quarterback for the final National Championship team for legendary coach Tom Osborne and was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He was also involved in an incident involving Nebraska's star running back Lawrence Phillips, in which Kate McEwen, Phillips' girlfriend and a member of the Nebraska women's basketball team, had been in Frost's room when Phillips broke in and assaulted McEwen. Phillips was later charged with domestic abuse.

In the 1997 season, during a regular season game against Missouri, Frost threw a pass that was kicked by Shevin Wiggins and caught by Matt Davison for a touchdown. This play has affectionately been called "the Catch" by Nebraska fans since. The touchdown sent the game in to overtime, and Frost sealed Nebraska's victory with a rushing touchdown. He led the Nebraska team that beat Peyton Manning's Tennessee Volunteers in the 1998 Orange Bowl.

Frost holds the school record with 155 attempted passes with no interceptions.

Coaching

After playing six seasons in the NFL, in 2002 Frost accepted an offer by his alma mater to be a graduate assistant coach preparing the Cornhuskers defense for the Independence Bowl. He later returned to the NFL for a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2006, he accepted an offer by his alma mater's rival, Kansas State, to fill the same position. In 2007, he joined the University of Northern Iowa coaching staff as the linebackers coach, later being promoted to Co-Defensive Coordinator.

On January 26, 2009, Frost was hired as the wide receivers coach for the University of Oregon. On September 3, 2009, after Oregon lost its season opening game against Boise State, Frost restrained Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount as he confronted a group of fans. The entire ordeal was broadcast live on national television.

Sunny Hundal (born 1977) is a British journalist and blogger.

He was born in London to Sikh parents of Indian origin. He has a degree in Economics from Brunel University and has written articles for leading British newspapers including ''The Financial Times'' and ''The Independent''.

Sunny Hundal was the founder and editor of the now defunct ''Asians in Media'' and ''Barfi Culture'' community websites. In 2006 he was one of the founder members of the now defunct New Generation Network, a short-lived group and manifesto that attempted to challenge the current discourse on race relations in the UK.

Hundal ran the ''Pickled Politics'' weblog, now ended, a politically progressive blog. He is a regular contributor to Comment is Free on ''The Guardian'' website, and was named as their blogger of the year in 2006.

In 2007 he set up Liberal Conspiracy, a group weblog which features many left-of-centre, and left-wing, bloggers. His own blog there has been featured in the ''New Statesman's'' "best of the blogs" selection, and has won approval internationally. and is a regular on twitter.

Hundal has criticised various religious organisations including the Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir, the Muslim Council of Britain, Muslim Public Affairs Committee UK, Christian Concern For Our Nation, Sikh Federation and Hindu Forum of Britain.

In February 2007 he made a BBC radio documentary ''Lost in Translation'' about Asian brides brought to the UK. The BBC also quoted his claim that Shahrukh Khan's endorsement of skin-lightening creams was "completely immoral".

In 2008, he wrote a blog post saying that non-white voters should consider voting Conservative, on the basis that "brown people" were being deliberately targeted by anti-terrorism legislation brought in by the New Labour government of Gordon Brown. In 2010, on his Liberal Conspiracy blog, he backed the Liberal Democrats in the UK General Election.

About three months after the formation of the Coalition Government, Hundal joined the Labour Party in order to influence its political direction. In August 2010 Hundal backed Ed Miliband in the Labour leadership election.

A vegetarian, he describes himself as a strong environmentalist.

Shakti Singh (born 14 May 1962) is an Indian discus thrower and shot putter.

His personal best shot put is 20.60 metres, achieved in July 2000 in Bangalore. His personal best discus throw is 61.72 metres, achieved in June 1994 in Bangalore.
