Q. How can we prepare ethics paper without coaching? because we know what is constitutionally right or wrong but how to put it in answer sheet?
Ethics paper is asking about “you”. for example “what does happiness mean to you?” no coaching class can teach you that.
Coaching will be detrimental here because even if you don’t belive in something, you’ll try to convenience the examiner about it.
For remaining papers, it doesn't matter, they’re factual or textual questions where your internal belief doesn't matter much.
You’ve to define yourself, be honest with yourself. There is no right or wrong answer here. You don’t need to practice for that exam, it should come from within. Yes, there is a structure of writing the case study -I’ll discuss that one.
example, if you dislike someone, find out why? First you deal with your own negative emotions.
Q.How to write case studies in a structure manner?
Consider following question asked in Mains GS Paper 4 in 2014
Rameshwar successfully cleared the prestigious civil services examination and was excited about the opportunity that he would get through the civil services to serve the country. However, soon after joining the services, he realized that things are not as rosy as he had imagined.
He found a number of malpractices prevailing in the department assigned to him. For example, funds under various schemes and grants were being misappropriated. The official facilities were frequently being used for personal needs by the officers and staff. After some time, he noticed that the process of recruiting the staff was also not up to the mark. Prospective candidates were required to write an examination in which a lot of cheating was going on. Some candidates were provided external help in the examination. Rameshwar brought these incidents to the notice of his seniors. However, he was advised to keep his eyes, ears and mouth shut and ignore all these things which were taking place with the connivance of the higher-ups. Rameshwar felt highly disillusioned and uncomfortable. He comes to you seeking your advice.
Indicate various options that you think are available in this situation. How would you help him to evaluate these options and choose the most appropriate path to be adopted? 250 words
Approach:
You’ve to do a stakeholder’s “pro-con” analysis.
Usually most case studies have following stakeholders
Person /Victim / Complainant
Staff / officers/ bosses
organization/ government
society at large.
You analyse each option from each of above’s perspectives.
In Rameshwar case study- only two stakeholders need to be discussed- (1) him (2) organization.
Decision: Should Rameshwar quit or not?
Stakeholder Pro Con
Person (Rameshwar)- pro : Can find better job wherein his talent is properly utilized. Con: May be rendered jobless.
Organizatin- Pro: Unhappy employee is unproductive employee, better let him go. Con- Money spent on his training, will be wasted. Difficult to find a new replacement person quickly.
Ultimately, you should write the least selfish answer.
Q.How to handle questions related to Feminism?
It is .Better not to pick up such questions in essay / ethics, if you’ve option to answer another question. Because you don’t know the gender of the evaluator.
I discussed last year’s ethics paper with boys and girls, each wrote different answers.
Even if the topic is close to your heart, but we may not be able to maintain rationality. Our end goal is to “pass” the exam. Never get overexited over topic.
Q.Please prescribe resource / Booklist for Ethics GS Paper 4
Lexicon thin book on ethics
I Didn’t really need to prepare much so no clue. Never did a single case study or read any other book. Can’t help much here.
I handled Case Studies basis what I had learnt in Business School so there isn't any one technique. Every question requires a different strategy. Some techniques you can google are - PESTEL, Stakeholder Analysis, Value Chain, SWOT and Pro-Con.

What are the anchors of an ethical life? In this informative talk, ethics maven Catharyn Baird explores the roots of how we think of an ethical life, and how to use them to build strong communities.
Catharyn is the founder and CEO of EthicsGame, and professor of business, emeritus, at Regis University in Denver. Catharyn’s research on meta-ethics resulted in the development in 2009 with co-author Jeannine Niacaris of the foundation for a suite of web-based ethics learning tools. Since the launch of EthicsGame in fall of 2005, its learning tools have been used by more than 200 universities and currently reaches more than 3,000 learners a month. The EthicsGame products are based on Catharyn’s pioneering work in business ethics during her 23 years on the faculty at Regis University. Committed to developing a web-based ethics program that was pedagogically sound and followed a developmental approach to ethics education, she developed a unique method of teaching ethics. Catharyn was the first woman to receive the title of full professor in the Division of Business at Regis. In 2000 she was named Regis University Faculty Lecturer of the Year.

Hilary Greaves discusses effective altruism, population ethics and existential risk in this recent interview held at EA Global Melbourne 2015
Population ethics is the philosophical study of the ethical problems concerning populations. It is also sometimes called population axiology, which is "the theory of when one state of affairs is better than another, where the states of affairs may differ over the number of people who ever live". (See 'Population Ethics, Aggregate Welfare, and the Repugnant Conclusion' http://www.repugnant-conclusion.com/index.html )
It deals with the special problems that arise when actions or policies cannot be said to affect individual persons but merely to substitute one group of people with another. Such problems usually only arise when our actions affect future generations.
“Most discussion in population ethics has concentrated on how to evaluate populations in regard to their goodness, that is, how to order populations by the relations “is better than” and “is as good as”. This field has been riddled with paradoxes which purport to show that our considered beliefs are inconsistent in cases where the number of people and their welfare varies.” - see http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/repugnant-conclusion
Population ethics is especially important when making large-scale decisions like those regarding climate policy.
See 'Population Ethics: Theory and Practice. Future of Humanity Institute, University of Oxford': http://www.populationethics.org

The abundance of new and beneficial open-source projects have changed the landscape of the technology industry. From the MapReduce algorithm that allows for parallel computation of huge data sets to NoSQL databases that complement the traditional relational database stack, technology will only continue to give more and more power to those who know how to wield it.
The question is, how do we develop an ethical framework that can provide the technology industry with the same profit incentive, while allowing for more transparency and responsibility for the benefit of the everyday consumer? That is answered by my in-depth research paper, available for consumption at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzW6zUEv_wl9VTdCaG9majVRY1E/view?usp=sharing.

The IMF seminar held on October 12, during the 2014 IMF/World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
Especially in the wake of the crisis, we are witnessing a depletion of trust and a loss of faith in markets – with evident implications for financial stability, economic growth, and social cohesion. As a result, economists and policymakers are increasingly coming to the view that economic concerns cannot be divorced from ethical concerns. This seminar would facilitate a discussion of these issues, bringing together leading policymakers and other thinkers on the topic from a broad range of fields including the financial sector, academia and religion. The discussion would reflect upon the continued tendency of the financial sector to prize short-term personal gain over longer-term social purpose; it will also explore implications of the idea that financial markets (and capitalism in general) are only sustainable if there is trust in the system, which in turn requires minimal standards of ethics and integrity.
Speakers:
Opening Remarks: David Lipton, First Deputy Managing Director, IMF
Sean Hagan, General Counsel and Director of the IMF Legal Department
Mark Carney, Governor, Bank of England
Philipp Hildebrand, Vice-Chair, BlackRock, Inc.
Christine Lagarde, Managing Director, IMF
Kok-Song Ng, GIC Chair of Global Investments
The Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury
