The Archbishop of York visited Lancashire and The Church of England in Lancashire (Blackburn Diocese) for two days on November 4 and 5 2014.
He recorded a video diary giving thoughts on what he heard and saw during a very busy schedule.
In part four, at the end of an extremely full two days the Archbishop, takes time out to record his final diary in the beautiful surroundings of the rural church of St John's Hurst Green.
St John's Church is an eco-congregation and the Archbishop heard about their work and issues related more generally to the environment and the Christian faith.
Earlier in the day he met with more than 100 Diocese clergy at Preston Minster where he gave his support for the proposed vision for growth in the Diocese recently put forward by Diocesan Bishop, Rt Rev. Julian Henderson. He also reflects on that meeting in this diary entry.
The Diocese thanks the Archbishop for taking time out of his busy schedule to record these diaries for our YouTube channel.

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York:
"I would say, I think, if I could dare speak for Cardinal Pell, whom I admire immensely, he probably meant it kind of shook us and startled us because we are not used to it. It's tough for us to think of, it's - a Pope dying is natural - a Pope stepping aside is something new to us. So it was startling."
6. Close of Dolan with American flag behind him
7. Mid of seminarians on the roof watching the Pope's helicopter fly away
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York:
"That has always been part of the church, because even though the church, the Church with a capital C, is the spotless bride of Christ, her members aren't, including me, OK? So her members are sinful, and if that sin should go unfortunately all the way through the leaders, and the pastors and the shepherds, and the people who even work in the home office, while I hope it never fails to, to sadden us and move us to reform, it should never shock us. 'Cause it's been there in the church from the beginning, right?"
9. Mid of Pope's helicopter flying behind the Cupola of St. Peter's Basilica
10. Mid of Dolan from behind watching the helicopter flying away
11. SOUNDBITE (English) Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York:
"At a time like this, when the church is under intense scrutiny, you see it more, radiantly - not radiantly - you see it more dramatically, I am afraid. Now these days, there almost seems to be a "shocker of the day", and you wonder, you wonder how much of it is gossip and innuendo and whisper? But I guess to your good question, do we need to be very serious about renewal and reform? You bet we do, that is the very charism of the church. "
12. Wide of St. Peter's Square
13. SOUNDBITE (English) Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York:
"There is flip sides to everything, right? So there is a very good side to the coverage that the church is getting now. Thank you. The interest, the attention, the probing, the examination. Bravo. Keep it up. Not only do we need it, but it is good for us, okay, and it is good for the church. There is a flip side to that because you are going to begin to dwell on the negatives, the gossip and there sometimes can be pressure. I think you will find the cardinals, one of our basic prayers is going to be to do this serenely, to keep our, to keep things in focus, not to give in to any pressure."

15. SOUNDBITE (English) Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York:
"There's a beautiful wisdom to that to that ancient praxis of the Conclave is complete seclusion. We don't even have cells. We don't have faxes, we don't have emails, we don't have Twitters, we don't have phones, we don't have letters, we don't, we, we have the word of God, we have one another, we have prayer, and that's it, and that's not bad."

STORYLINE:
Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York said Thursday that the Cardinals were "startled" by the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and noted that now they need to tackle sin within the church.
The Archbishop of New York was speaking shortly before he watched Pope Benedict XVI leave the Vatican in a helicopter taking the Pope to Castel Gandolfo, the traditional papal summer residence, south of Rome.
