Rob "Millsy" Mills, best known for starring on Australian Idol season one and his "affair" with billionaire hotel heiress Paris Hilton, has opened up about drug use and being "a little bit gay".

The 33-year-old from Melbourne sat down for a chat with his good friend and fellow former Australian Idol star, Em Rusciano, for her podcast Deeply Shallow, where he openly chatted about kissing men and "loving it".

"Are you a little bit gay?" Rusciano asked him, to which he replied: "Just a little bit."

He referred to himself as a “love machine”, but stopped short of declaring himself as bisexual, saying: “I love people.”

"I've never denied any rumours or innuendo … [like] pashing a few blokes."

The reality TV star turned musical theatre actor, who is currently playing Sam in the stage version of Ghost (a role made famous by Patrick Swayze in the 1990 film), also spoke about his first introduction to drugs after being catapulted into the limelight on Idol.

"I am saying on the record as a 33-year-old guy, I am completely against recreational drugs, but cocaine is a hell of a drug," Mills laughed.

"I was 21 and I had never been out of Melbourne. I think my longest trip was a caravan trip… I did everything [drugs]… I am a yes person," he told Rusciano .

Despite it being more than 12 years since his unlikely romance with Hilton, it is a topic that is of interest to this day.

The pair first met at a party at the Opera House, and he chatted her up by asking if he could buy her a drink, even though it was a free bar. He said he also "tried some coke" that night.

Later they went to a party at Osher Gunsberg's house, the current Bachelor TV presenter formerly known as Andrew G, and afterwards back to her hotel where he said things got "pretty handsy".

"We did pretty much everything but [sex] and then we caught up at the races [Melbourne Cup in 2003] a week after."

A year after the races, Mills and Kim Kardashian's former BFF were still in contact and he was by her side in a Melbourne hotel when her sex tape, 1 Night in Paris, with her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon, leaked in 2004.

"She looks pretty upset. She's huddling over her laptop and she goes: 'I'm just downloading my sex tape … my lawyer is sending it to me, so I just need to look at it,' " he said of the night.

The pair both watched it together.

Mills, who is currently in a relationship with actress Ellen Simpson, also described taking Hilton to "the asbestos shack" where he lived in Box Hill, Melbourne, with his stepmother.

The reason they split was because he says: "She's not that interesting, I was growing up."
