London's traditional pubs are shutting their doors at a rate of roughly 30 a week. But some manage to avoid closure by reinventing themselves as hip entertainment spaces. East London, home to many of the capital's original public houses (as they were historically known) is witness to this trend - the result of a struggling economy, rising alcohol taxes and smoke-free laws. Photographer Jan Klos pays homage to a vanishing institution with striking portraits of some of East London's most beloved watering holes.
