Show Boat, the first great serious Broadway musical, combined the talents of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. The story, which spans almost fifty years, follows the lives, loves, and losses of a troupe of riverboat performers aboard the Cotton Blossom floating theater on the mighty Mississippi. Its timeless score contains some of the most beautiful and emotionally charged songs ever written for a musical, including "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" and "Make Believe." “Ol’ Man River”, is the show's most memorable anthem about how the mighty Mississippi River, that unstoppable force of nature, is completely indifferent to human suffering.
The musical illuminates the racial and social changes that were shaping the country in 1890-1927. The show opened on Broadway at the Ziegfeld Theatre on December 27, 1927. The show ran a year and a half, for a total of 572 performances. It has been revived numerous times--most successfully by Hal Prince in 1994. Two Film versions were produced by MGM including the 1936 film with a Screenplay by Oscar Hammerstein II Starring Irene Dunne and the 1951 Technicolor film version with Ava Gardner and Howard Keel
We are thrilled to bring this classic hit musical to the WBT stage! Richard Stafford, a WBT favorite, will Direct and Choreograph the show. The Musical Director is Ryan Wise.
Our production stars Sarah Hanlon as Julie Laverne, Bonnie Fraser as Magnolia Hawks, John Preator as Gaylord Ravenal, Jamie Ross as Cap’n Andy, Karen Murphy as Parthy Hawks, Amanda Pulcini as Ellie May Shipley, Michael James Leslie as Joe, Daniel Scott Walton as Frank Schultz, and Inga Ballard as Queenie. Magnolia’s daughter Kim as a child is played by Katie Grgecia and Alyssa Emily Marvin (who alternate in the part).
Featuring the talents of; Malcom Armwood, Eric Briarley, Erin Chupinsky, Micharel Dauer, Jonathan Freeland, Alia Hodge, Justin R.G. Holcomb, Celeste Hudson, Paul-Jordan Jansen, Leisa Mather, Zoie Morris, Gabriella Perez, Kristyn Pope, Adam Richardson, Roger Preston Smith and Karen Webb.
Set and Costume Design is by Michael Bottari and Ronald Case, Lighting Design is by Andrew Gmoser, Sound Design is by Jonathan Hatton and Mark Zuckerman, Hair/wig design by Gerard Kelly. Steve Loftus is the Technical Director, The Production Stage Manager is Victor Lukas, Properties are by Grumpy Props. Lisa Tiso is the Associate Producer.

Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple.
We try our best to cover all of the top attractions including fine arts, entertainment, festivals, dining, architecture and museums as well as focusing on lesser known off the beaten path attractions to cover all forms of tourism. If you only have time to visit only one city in the United States it ought to be NYC, USA:

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. You can ride roller coasters, stroll down the boardwalk, enjoy some beach time, and then head over the Nathan's Famous hot dogs. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. Strawberry Fields is a section of Central Park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

The exclusive Walks Of New York tour takes you on an exploration of the history, stars and stories of Broadway, with special access at the New Amsterdam Theatre home to the Disney Theatrical Group and legendary shows like Aladdin and The Lion King.
During the Walks Of New York tour you will visit Sardi's Restaurant to see some of the hundreds of caricatures of show-business celebrities that adorn its walls. Melchiore Pio Vincenzo "Vincent" Sardi, Sr. and his wife Eugenia Pallera opened their first eatery, The Little Restaurant, at 146 West 44th Street in 1921. When that building was slated for demolition in 1926, they accepted an offer from the theater magnates, the Shubert brothers, to relocate to a new building the brothers were erecting down the block. The new restaurant, Sardi's, opened March 5, 1927. When business slowed after the move, Vincent Sardi sought a gimmick to attract customers. Recalling the movie star caricatures that decorated the walls of Joe Zelli’s, a Parisian restaurant and jazz club, Sardi decided to recreate that effect in his establishment. He hired a Russian refugee named Alex Gard to draw Broadway celebrities. Sardi and Gard drew up a contract that stated Gard would make the caricatures in exchange for one meal per day at the restaurant. The first official caricature by Gard was of Ted Healy, the vaudevillian of Three Stooges fame. When Sardi’s son, Vincent Sardi, Jr. took over restaurant operations in 1947, he offered to change the terms of Gard's agreement. Gard refused and continued to draw the caricatures in exchange for meals until his death.
With the Walks Of New York friendly team of 'Broadway Insiders', you’ll tour all the top sights of the theatre district. Visit iconic Times Square to learn of its unlikely history; hear how Sardi’s restaurant amassed its impressive collection of famous characters (and a Tony Award to boot); and hear the histories of top stages like Shubert Theatre, where Barbara Streisand entered as an unknown and left as a star. Your guide will teach you what daily life is like for the actors, directors and crew that work around the clock to make Broadway shows a reality - so that you’re well prepped for the highlight of our Broadway tour: A special access visit to the New Amsterdam Theatre. For one full hour you’ll have the run of Disney's New Amsterdam Theatre. Here you’ll be joined by the theatre’s own historian (and his set of keys). Together you’ll explore the theatre; seeing its beautiful stage outside of show time and hearing details of what it takes to stage a show like Aladdin or Mary Poppins; from conception through to closing night (hint: It’s a little more than a spoonful of sugar.) For an extra sprinkle of magic, you’ll visit the Costumes and Props Studio, where you’ll find treasures untold - props and set pieces from past Broadway shows; like the Little Mermaid's giant seashell and Mary Poppins' iconic outfit. Of course the secret to any production’s success is the people behind it. From Florenz Ziegfeld’s pen to Idina Menzel’s voice, Broadway was built on talent - so it’s only fitting that your tour should be too.
Throughout your Walks Of New York, Broadway tour you’ll be accompanied by one of our handpicked Broadway Insiders. Part tour guide, part performer, they come from the ranks of the initiated. Actors, crew, theatre directors; they’ve been there and done that so they’re just the people to give you the inside scoop. Throughout your time together you’ll have an audio headset to ensure that you don’t miss an ounce of their Disney trivia or Broadway gossip. You’ll also hear snippets of audio from live Broadway shows for that extra sprinkle of Disney magic.

Times Square is a major commercial intersection[1] and a neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the junction of Broadway (now converted into a pedestrian plaza) and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. Brightly adorned with billboards and advertisements, Times Square – iconified as "The Crossroads of the World",[2][3][4][5][6] "The Center of the Universe",[7][8][9] and "The Great White Way"[10][11][12] – is the hub of the Broadway Theater District,[13] one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections,[14] and a major center of the world's entertainment industry.[15] Times Square is one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, hosting over 39 million visitors annually.[16] Approximately 330,000 people pass through Times Square daily, many of whom are either tourists or people working in the area.[17]
Formerly Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in April 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building – now called One Times Square – site of the annual ball drop on New Year's Eve,[18] a tradition which began on December 31, 1907 and continues today, attracting thousands to the Square every New Year's.
The northern triangle of Times Square is technically Duffy Square, dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York City's "Fighting 69th" Infantry Regiment; a memorial to Duffy is located there, along with a statue of George M. Cohan, and the TKTS discount theatre tickets booth. The stepped red roof of the TKTS booth also provides seating for various events. The Duffy Statue and the square were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.[19]

The Cherry Lane Theatre is New York City's oldest, continuously running off-Broadway theater. It's been operating since 1924.
The Cherry Lane features a 179-seat main stage and a 60-seat studio. The building dates all the way back to 1817, and during its history, it's also functioned as a tobacco warehouse and box factory. Famed poet and playwright Edna St. Vincent Millay converted the structure into a theater.
Cherry Lane's early productions centered on experimental plays but and later attracted notables like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Eugene O'Neill, Gertrude Stein, T. S. Eliot and Tennessee Williams, Clifford Odets, Sam Shepherd, and Edward Albee.

You’ll also learn surprising stories of these and other actors who suspended our disbelief and gave us a night of wonder. You’ll come away from the tour a true Broadway “Insider”.

Walks of New York is thrilled to offer a spectacular tour of Broadway. Broadway is the heart of entertainment, and what's New York without entertainment. We have an incredible tour that covers all of the major historic theatres. Take a walk through Shubert Alley and see where some of the early Broadway hits were played. Disney Theatrical is known to have revitalised Times Square and brought some of its great shows like the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast to Times Square. New Amsterdam Theatre has been the home for that for many years. You get to visit the actual theatre. You go inside, hear stories by the local guide telling you all about all the history of the building. The tour culminates with a once in a lifetime opportunity, you get to play with the actual props from the shows, like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid. You get to put on the icon costumes they have in the prop room. It's really an iconic experience.
