The first blast occurred just before midnight (2am AEST) last night at the port, where highly-flammable material was being stored, CCTV News reports.
Other videos of the blasts show enormous fireballs rocketing into the sky, and huge shock waves shaking building across the city.

It is believed between 300 to 400 people have been injured and two firefighters are said to be missing.
The initial blast was followed by a second even bigger blast, sending out a shock wave that shattered windows and sent debris into the air.
"All of a sudden there was a flash of big red light, and a big sound. And 10 seconds afterwards, there was a big wave," an online user told the South China Morning Post.
At least 60 fire trucks have responded to the incident, with word the blasts were felt several kilometres away.

Local hospitals are struggling to cope with the number of patients injured in the explosions, with staff trying to contact all of their doctors and nurses.
"The hospital cannot count how many patients we have received – there are too many of them and many of them have burn injuries," a doctor told the Beijing News.
Photos posted on Chinese social network Weibo showed people in the street apparently covered in blood, while others carried children covered in blankets to safety, though the veracity of the pictures could not immediately be confirmed.

The first blast occurred just before midnight (2am AEST) last night at the port, where highly-flammable material was being stored, CCTV News reports.
Other videos of the blasts show enormous fireballs rocketing into the sky, and huge shock waves shaking building across the city.
Communist Party newspaper the People's Daily said 13 people were killed in the explosion in a post on Chinese social network Weibo, adding in a separate post that more remained trapped by a huge fire unleashed by the explosives.

Huge explosions sparked overnight at a warehouse for dangerous materials in the northeastern Chinese port of Tianjin killed at least 17 people, injured hundreds and sent massive fireballs into the night sky, officials and state media outlets said Thursday.
Flammable goods at a container terminal in northern China’s Tianjin municipality exploded at about 11:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday (11:30 a.m. ET), shattering windows and causing injuries, according to state media reports. The blast was powerful enough that the shockwave knocked people over several kilometres away.
CCTV, the state-run broadcaster, said that another 248 people had been admitted to hospitals in the city, east of Beijing. The explosions late Wednesday knocked off doors of buildings in the area and shattered windows up to several kilometers away.
“I thought it was an earthquake, so I rushed downstairs without my shoes on,” Tianjin resident Zhang Siyu, whose home is several kilometers from the blast site, said in a telephone interview. “Only once I was outside did I realize it was an explosion. There was the huge fireball in the sky with thick clouds. Everybody could see it.”
Zhang said she could see wounded people weeping. She said she did not see anyone who had been killed, but “I could feel death.”
Police in Tianjin said an initial blast took place late Wednesday night at shipping containers of a warehouse for hazardous materials owned by a logistics company.
The official Xinhua News agency said an initial explosion triggered other blasts at nearby businesses. The National Earthquake Bureau reported two major blasts before midnight, the first with an equivalent of 3 tons of TNT, and the second with the equivalent of 21 tons.
“It was like what we were told a nuclear bomb would be like,” said truck driver Zhao Zhencheng, who spent the night in the cab of his truck. “I’ve never even thought I’d see such a thing. It was terrifying, but also beautiful.”
Photos apparently taken by bystanders and circulating on microblogs show a gigantic fireball high in the sky, with a mushroom-cloud. Other photos on state media outlets showed a sea of fire that painted the night sky bright orange, with tall plumes of smoke.
“At the time of the explosion the ground was shaking fiercely, nearby cars and buildings were shaking, a few buildings’ glass all broke and everyone started to run,” Ms Yang, an eyewitness, was reported telling the local media by the BBC. “Now all the residents are gathered in the street.”
In one neighborhood of Tianjin about 10 to 20 kilometers from the blast site, some residents were sleeping on the street wearing gas masks, although there was no perceptible problem with the air apart from massive clouds of smoke seen in the distance.
“It was like the earthquake back in 1976 with glass breaking,” resident Han Xiang said. “But then there was a huge mushroom cloud so we thought we were also in a war.”
About 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) from the explosion site is the luxury Fifth Avenue apartment complex on a road strewn with broken glass and pieces of charred metal thrown from explosion. Like surrounding buildings, the Mediterranean style complex had all its windows blown out, and some of its surfaces were scorched.
“It had been all quiet, then the sky just lit up brighter than day and it looked like a fireworks show,” said another worker on the site who gave just his surname, Li.
State broadcaster CCTV said six battalions of firefighters had brought the ensuing fire under control, although it was still burning. It said the firefighters were combing the neighborhood to look for further injured residents.
The logistics company was identified in state media as Ruihai Logistics. The company says on its website that it was established in 2011 and is an approved company for handling hazardous materials. It says it handles 1 million tons of cargo annually.
Tianjin, a city of 15 million is about 120 kilometers east of Beijing on the Bohai Sea and is one of the country’s major ports.

Flammable goods at a container terminal in northern China’s Tianjin municipality exploded at about 11:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday (11:30 a.m. ET) shattering windows and causing injuries according to state media reports.
The number of casualties from the blast in the city’s Binhai New Area is unknown China Central Television reported on its news app, citing the local fire department. Injured people have been hospitalized it said. One report put the number injured higher than 400. The Daily Mirror reported the injury toll at more than 1000.
Although there are no confirmed reports of deaths so far some of the graphic images coming out of the city imply that the death count will be far higher than zero.
The fire that caused the explosion is now under control, the Chinese Xinhau news service reports.
The China Earthquake Networks Center said on its Weibo microblog account that it recorded two explosions, with the second one larger. Local residents said windows and fish tanks were shattered, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Flames lit the sky and dust was blown “dozens of meters” into the air, Xinhua said.
Tianjin is a major port city near Beijing, and is being developed into “China’s answer to Manhattan” with plans to make it a major financial centre. 7.5 million people live in the city.

3. STOCKHOLM - SWEDEN
Stockholm was the EU’s first city to win the European Green Capital Award. With coordinated environmental planning that began in the ’70s, ample green space and a goal to be fossil fuel-free by 2050, it’s one of the cleanest cities in the world.
4. VANCOUVER - CANADA
Vancouver is densely populated and expensive but its moderate climate makes it a highly desirable place to live. So does the fact that it’s the cleanest city in Canada and one of the cleanest in the world.
5. LONDON - ENGLAND
One might not think of foggy Londontown as a green city but the town has actively worked to leave its bleak, early Industrial Revolution image behind it, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating more green spaces.
6. BERLIN - GERMANY
Coming in first on the European main continent, Berlin’s Environmental Zone in its city core allows only vehicles that have a sticker indicating that it meets certain emissions standards.
7. NEW YORK - UNITED STATES
New York is, perhaps surprisingly to some, the greenest large city in the U.S. Its greenhouse gas emissions are low for a city its size and its population relies heavily on its extensive public transportation system. The city itself has put in place a green building initiative.
8. SINGAPORE - REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE
After industrialization brought heavy pollution, Asia’s greenest city tackled the problem head on, creating its first Singapore Green Plan in 1992 to tackle clean water, clean air and clean land. It aims to have zero waste in landfills by the mid 21st century.
9. HELSINKI - FINLAND
Like many Scandinavian cities, Finland’s capital encourages bicycle use and public transportation. The city has been working toward sustainability since the late ’50s with energy efficiency programs and an aggressive Sustainability Action Plan adopted in 1992.
10. OSLO - NORWAY
Norway’s capital rounds out the four Scandinavian cities in the top ten. The city government has its Strategy for Sustainable Development which includes an aggressive program to protect its natural surroundings. Its Green Belt Boundary protects wild areas from development.

The 10 Greenest Cities In The World You Must Visit!
1. COPENHAGEN - DENMARK
Rated one of the world’s most livable cities, the metropolis of nearly two million people is known for advanced environmental policies and planning, with its goal to be carbon-neutral by 2025 and Cleantech Cluster of more than 500 companies. City infrastructure is designed to be conducive to bicycling and walking rather than cars.

TIANJIN, CHINA — China's government has confirmed that hazardous sodium cyanide was stored at a logistics center in Tianjin's Binhai district, where a massive chemical explosion occurred on Wednesday, causing 112 deaths so far. The government has ordered the evacuation of a three kilometer radius around the site of the chemical explosion, due to hazardous chemicals scattered in the area.
The logistical facility housed 700 tons of sodium cyanide, 70 times the legal amount that can be stored in such a site. Large quantities of sodium carbide, potassium nitrate, and sodium nitrate were also present. Facilities housing such dangerous chemicals must not have any residential or civil structures within a 1km radius, but the Binhai facility had several apartment blocks and a metro station nearby.
Firefighters began fighting Wednesday's blaze with water, which is the recommended response for nitrate fires. But, fires near sodium carbide should be sprayed with foam instead of water. When firefighters sprayed water onto the fire, it reacted with the sodium carbide, causing a massive explosion which threw solid sodium cyanide, stored nearby, over a wide area.
Sodium cyanide is extremely hazardous. In contact with water, it emits hydrogen cyanide, which is a liquid below 25.6C, but boils into a gas above that temperature. Sodium cyanide and hydrogen cyanide are water soluble, and can be absorbed through the skin. Hydrogen cyanide gas is extremely lethal if inhaled. Sodium cyanide and hydrogen cyanide cause death by stopping any organs they contact from utilizing oxygen.
Family members of the 95 people still missing after the blast, including 85 firemen, as well as of the over 700 injured, have accused the government of lacking transparency in dealing with the disaster.

A powerful blast has rocked the Tianjin binhai new area,in China
A massive explosion hit a "dangerous goods" warehouse in Tianjin, China, on Wednesday, killing at least 50 people and leaving emergency services staff trapped in the rubble.
The explosion in the Binhai New Area on the city's coast happened at about 11.30pm local time, with videos posted on social media showed a towering inferno above one of China's largest urban areas.
Reuters cited a statement by the city's government that 50 people were confirmed dead - including 12 firefighters - and as many as 700 injured, over 71 seriously. The Beijing News, an official outlet, reported that authorities had lost contact with 36 firefighters on the scene.
As many as eight fire engines were destroyed by the blast. Nearby, firefighters wept as they worked to extinguish the flames,

2. AMSTERDAM - NETHERLANDS
Everyone rides bicycles in Amsterdam and has been doing it for decades. It’s one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world, due in part to its compactness and flatness, as well as its bike infrastructure, including protected paths, racks and parking. The city has more bicycles than people.
