The initial blast was followed by a second even bigger blast, sending out a shock wave that shattered windows and sent debris into the air. "The hospital cannot count how many patients we have received – there are too many of them and many of them have burn injuries," a doctor told the Beijing News. Photos posted on Chinese social network Weibo showed people in the street apparently covered in blood, while others carried children covered in blankets to safety, though the veracity of the pictures could not immediately be confirmed.
