The real reason Egypt is moving its capital
Cairo isn’t the problem.

In 2017, Egypt’s government announced it would build a new capital city 45 kilometers outside of Cairo, the current capital. It was a shocking announcement since Cairo, a city of more than 10,000,000 people, has been the capital of Egypt for decades.

And based on how construction is going, this new capital won’t be a solution either.
So why does Egypt want a new cap...

Even if the really big finds of archaeology may already belong to the past, experts are all over the world looking for traces of former civilizations and their remains. In the process, small and large things are found every day that help to establish connections and better understand the origins of today's civilization. Again and again, archaeologists come across treasures whose meaning and contents they almost can't believe at first. The following finds are about things that you either never expected or where you were amazed to find such treasures even after so many years of excavations.

Egypt sung by Cory Asbury as a part of the Revival's In The Air album.
This is a song of thanks to the One who fights for us even in our weakness and sets us free to worship him. This song has been reviving us as a community and waking us up to a God who is relentlessly kind.

Lyrics:
Verse 1
I won’t forget
The wonder of how You brought
Deliverance
The exodus of my heart
Pre Chorus
You found me
You freed me
Held back the waters for my release
Oh Yahweh
Chorus
You’re the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah, hallelujah
You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Verse 2
A cloud by day
A sign that You are with me
The fire by night
A guiding light to my feet
Bridge
You stepped into my Egypt
You took me by the hand
You marched me out in freedom
Into the promised land
Now I will not forget You
I’ll sing of all You’ve done
Death is swallowed up forever
By the fury of Your love

This is the map of Africa. Just along the winding Nile River, the greatest civilization in history thrived almost 3000 years ago. With the passing centuries, this ancient and vibrant land of the insanely powerful Pharaohs fell under the control of Greeks. This was followed by the Roman regime and finally the Muslims seized Egypt. The glorious dynasties of ancient Egypt got buried under the subsequent layers of these entirely different cultures. But now, thanks to the efforts of modern archaeologists and historians, the treasures and secrets buried in the hidden tombs of Egypt are finally being unearthed. The scope of these discoveries and information obtained from the forbidden mausoleums is so vast that an entire field of study had to be dedicated to Egypt. This study of ancient Egypt is now called Egyptology

My trip to Egypt was nothing short of incredibly challenging and extremely fulfilling. From the historic Pyramids of Giza and Luxor Temple, to the amazing Egyptian food and wildly entertaining people, this was truly a trip of a lifetime.
Here is my Ultimate Egypt Travel Guide in Q&A; Form:
IS EGYPT SAFE?
Yes. If we compare Egypt to let's say Brazil, I think it is very safe. In many places around Latin America you have to be worried about being robbed at gunpoint, car jacked, pickpocketed and much more.
In Egypt, you just have to look out for scammers, hecklers, gawkers, and people trying to sell you things or get undeserved tips from you. That is my very short answer.
*See my episode "Is Egypt Safe for Women" for more information.
IS EGYPT EXPENSIVE?
No. As I explain in the video; you can find good quality hotels in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and across Egypt for a good price. Tours are affordable, and transportation can also be done on a budget. Entrance fees and tips can add up, so just be aware of that.
You just need to be aware of people trying to charge you more money on small things.
Food costs will be between $3-10 USD per meal, and Uber is the best and cheapest way to get around.
IS IT DIFFICULT TO FILM? HOW WERE THE POLICE?
We did not have trouble filming at all. We were usually either with local friends or a tour guide, and they opened many doors for us. We filmed as low-key as possible, and we removed our microphones for the majority of our trip. We also did not bring drones.
As for Egyptian Police, we truly did not have any issues. Whenever necessary, I explained that I was an American photographer or YouTuber and they were honestly just excited.
Tyler and I also traveled with very limited gear as to not intimidate anyone, and we filmed with our iPhones wherever necessary.
IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, PLEASE COMMENT THEM BELOW AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THEM!!
I hope you enjoyed this Egypt Travel Guide as much as we did making it! ❤️ If so, please hit that "👍" button, and leave a comment!
See ya next week!

Spotted Flycatcher in My Garden in Cornwall
This is the first Spotted Flycatcher that I've had the pleasure of seeing. It was sitting in the tree at the back of our garden.
The Spotted Flycatcher is grey-brown in colour with an off-white breast, streaked with darker grey and a streaked forehead. They like to perch conspicuously and watch for passing insects, flying out to snap them up, before returning to the perch. Recent dramatic population declines puts the spotted flycatcher high on the Red List.
WHERE TO SEE THEM
During the breeding season spotted flycatchers can be found throughout the UK, although they are scarce in the far north and west and almost absent from Scottish islands. High densities are found from Devon and Kent as far north as the Dornoch Firth. Best looked for along ...

Spotted flycatcher 1h bird sound
1 hour sound of Spotted flycatcher
The spotted flycatcher (Muscicapa striata) is a small passerine bird in the Old World flycatcher family. It breeds in most of Europe and in the Palearctic to Siberia, and is migratory, wintering in Africa and south western Asia. It is declining in parts of its range.
This is an undistinguished looking bird with long wings and tail. The adults have grey-brown upperparts and whitish underparts, with a streaked crown and breast, giving rise to the bird's common name. The legs are short and black, and the bill is black and has the broad but pointed shape typical of aerial insectivores. Juveniles are browner than adults and have spots on the upperparts.

Nesting Spotted Flycatchers | Muscicapa striata | British Birding
In this video I follow nesting Spotted Flycatchers feeding their chicks over a period of eight days watching them grow and fledge. Watch the flycatcher chicks growing up day by day at a remarkable rate and make the parent birds work hard in catching insects to feed them. Spotted Flycatcher, Muscicapa striata, is a small songbird found in Europe and parts of Asia but becoming an increasingly scarce sight in British birding, making watching them nesting a special experience. While Spotted Flycatcher is not a colourful bird it is interesting for its migratory habits and tendency to often nest close to humans.

Spotted flycatchers hunt from conspicuous perches, making sallies after passing flying insects, and often returning to the same perch. Their upright posture is characteristic.
Spotted flycatchers exhibit an atypical molt strategy, that is they molt their primaries and some of their secondaries in the reverse order from what is seen in most passerines.
The flycatcher's call is a thin, drawn out soft and high pitched tssssseeeeeppppp, slightly descending in pitch.
They are birds of deciduous woodlands, parks and gardens, with a preference for open areas amongst trees. They build an open nest in a suitable recess, often against a wall, and will readily adapt to an open-fronted nest box. 4-6 eggs are laid.
Interestingly, most European birds cannot discriminate between their own eggs and those of other species. The exception to this are the hosts of the common cuckoo, which have had to evolve this skill as a protection against that nest parasite. The spotted flycatcher shows excellent egg recognition, and it is likely that it was once a host of the cuckoo, but became so good at recognising the intruder's eggs that it ceased to be victimised.] A contrast to this is the dunnock, which appears to be a recent cuckoo host, since it does not show any egg discrimination.

Egypt Roman province
Roman rule in Egypt
Maps of Roman Egypt
Northern Africa under Roman rule
The Roman Empire during the reign of Hadrian (117 – 138). Two legions were deployed in the imperial province of Ægyptus (Egypt) in the year 125.
As a key province, but also the 'crown domain' where the emperors succeeded the divine Pharaohs, Egypt was ruled by a uniquely styled Praefectus augustalis ('Augustal prefect'), instead of the traditional senatorial governor of other Roman provinces. The prefect was a man of equestrian rank and was appointed by the Emperor. The first prefect of Aegyptus, Gaius Cornelius Gallus, brought Upper Egypt under Roman control by force of arms, and established a protectorate over the southern frontier district, which had been abandoned by the later Ptolemies.
The second prefect, Ael...

“Shocking” Things you Did Not Know about Roman Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt lasted for a long, long time. Over the course of 3,000 years, some 32 dynasties ruled over the lands along the Nile, building temples and pyramids, creating art, evolving complex belief systems and rituals, and generally just being better than everyone else in the word at just about everything during that time.
But all good things must come to an end. Towards the turn of the first millennium AD, Rome was on the rise, gobbling up territory all around the Mediterranean. It wouldn’t be long before Egyptian domination came to an end. But the story of what happened next for Egypt has often been overlooked.
Welcome back to Nutty History. Today, we’re exploring the untold story of Roman Egypt.

Roman Egypt Treasury of the Empire by Dennis Pricolo 2 12 18
Roman Egypt is well known as the granary of the empire, but it was so much more. It was also a base for military operations into Africa and the Middle East and the starting point for the extremely important oceanic trade with Africa, India and China, the doorway to the outside world. The wealth that Egypt contributed propped up the empire, thanks to ruthless exploitation by the Roman emperors.
Dennis Pricolo is a retired Navy Captain who spent lengthy tours across Europe, the Middle East and Eastern Asia. The current president of the Egyptian
Study Society, Dennis is a graduate of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, earned master’s degrees from the US Naval War College and Harvard
University, and is a lifelong enthusiastic student of military, naval and ancient history.

The second prefect, Aelius Gallus, made an unsuccessful expedition to conquer Arabia Petraea and even Arabia Felix. The Red Sea coast of Aegyptus was not brought under Roman control until the reign of Claudius. The third prefect, Gaius Petronius, cleared the neglected canals for irrigation, stimulating a revival of agriculture. Petronius even led a campaign into present-day central Sudan against the Kingdom of Kush at Meroe, whose queen Imanarenat had previously attacked Roman Egypt. Failing to acquire permanent gains, in 22 BC he razed the city of Napata to the ground and retreated to the north.
From the reign of Nero onward, Aegyptus enjoyed an era of prosperity which lasted a century. Much trouble was caused by religious conflicts between the Greeks and the Jews, particularly in Alexandria, which after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 became the world centre of Jewish religion and culture. Under Trajan a Jewish revolt occurred, resulting in the suppression of the Jews of Alexandria and the loss of all their privileges, although they soon returned. Hadrian, who twice visited Aegyptus, founded Antinoöpolis in memory of his drowned lover Antinous. From his reign onward buildings in the Greco-Roman style were erected throughout the country.
Under Antoninus Pius oppressive taxation led to a revolt in 139, of the native Egyptians, which was suppressed only after several years of fighting. This Bucolic War, led by one Isidorus, caused great damage to the economy and marked the beginning of Egypt's economic decline. Avidius Cassius, who led the Roman forces in the war, declared himself emperor in 175, and was acknowledged by the armies of Syria and Aegyptus.
On the approach of Marcus Aurelius, Cassius was deposed and killed and the clemency of the emperor restored peace. A similar revolt broke out in 193, when Pescennius Niger was proclaimed emperor on the death of Pertinax. The Emperor Septimius Severus gave a constitution to Alexandria and the provincial capitals in 202.[clarification needed]
Caracalla (211–217) granted Roman citizenship to all Egyptians, in common with the other provincials, but this was mainly to extort more taxes, which grew increasingly onerous as the needs of the emperors for more revenue grew more desperate.
There was a series of revolts, both military and civilian, through the 3rd century. Under Decius, in 250, the Christians again suffered from persecution, but their religion continued to spread. The prefect of Aegyptus in 260, Mussius Aemilianus, first supported the Macriani, usurpers during the rule of Gallienus, and later, in 261, became a usurper himself, but was defeated by Gallienus.
Zenobia, queen of Palmyra, took the country away from the Romans when she conquered Aegyptus in 269, declaring herself the Queen of Egypt also. This warrior queen claimed that Egypt was an ancestral home of hers through a familial tie to Cleopatra VII. She was well educated and familiar with the culture of Egypt, its religion, and its language. She lost it later when the Roman emperor, Aurelian, severed amicable relations between the two countries and retook Egypt in 274—following an unsuccessful four-month siege of the defenses of Zenobia—and only by waiting until her food supplies became exhausted.
Two generals based in Aegyptus, Probus and Domitius Domitianus, led successful revolts and made themselves emperors. Diocletian captured Alexandria from Domitius in 298 and reorganised the whole province. His edict of 303 against the Christians began a new era of persecution. This was the last serious attempt to stem the steady growth of Christianity in Egypt, however.

In this history documentary we explore another one of the forgotten wars when the Roman army marched beyond the frontiers to explore parts unknown. However in order to contextualize this expedition we spend time exploring the ancient History of Egypt and the History of Nubia. We begin by looking at the geographic features of the Nile which influenced the development of the civilizations along its banks. Next we look at the intertwined development of both Egyptian and Nubian kingdoms over the eras. This covers the overlap of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, and the New Kingdom of Egypt with the Kingdom of Kerma, the Kingdom of Napata, and the Kingdom of Meroe.
Finally we discuss how the Roman Empire became involved in Egypt and African history. This began with Pompey and Caesar during their civil war. When Rome then chose to support the Ptolemaic rule of Cleopatra they then further became invovled. The queen would support Mark Antony in his civil war against Octavian but the eastern forces would ultimately lose at the Battle of Actium. Following this event, Octavian, now turned Augustus, would annex Egypt. Over the following decades, the emperor would embark on fresh conquests to win gold and glory. One was the Roman Invasion of Arabia and the other was the Roman invasion of Ethiopia. We covered the former in a previous video and spend the remainder of our time seeing how the conflict into Nubia would unfold.
This involves a fascinating series of campaigns fought between Kandake Amanirenas and Gaius Petronius with armies of 30,000 and 10,000 respectively. Its a fascinating look into the African history that rarely gets covered.
