Our Albayrak Group commenced its activities with the construction sector in 1996, executed projects only within the construction sector until 1982 and in that year entered the personnel transportation sector. The Albayrak group, which achieved an expansion parallel to the growth of the national economy, had sustained Turkey with the group’s investments in new sectors. With over 20 corporations, the Albayrak Group is constantly growing and continuing its operations in 6 different sectors; construction, real estate investment, industry, logistics, service, news media and tourism. The Albayrak Group, which had arrived at this point by giving over 5000 people a job opportunity, is looking at the future of Turkey with an unshakeable trust. Our group had entered the logistics sector with the personnel transportation in 1982, and became the leader of the sector within four years. Following the takeover of the management of the Trabzon Port in 2003, the Albayrak Group has made crucial contributions to the regional and national economy. A short while after this takeover, the handling capacity of the port had been raised from 3.9 million tons to 5 million tons through new investments and modernization studies. In the same manner, the Trabzon Port had reached 1,537,000 tons, in terms of handled material, and grabbed a slice of history with a 500% increase in container traffic. The Trabzon Port, which possesses a 1252-meter dock length, is providing continuous service in operations like; a 3-million-ton storage, a roll-on/roll-off access with 2000 vessel acceptance and a 250,000-passenger capacity, pouring, the port guidance of cargo and open transit materials, port location and clearance operations. The Albayrak Group is aiming to turn the Trabzon Port into the biggest port of the Black Sea Region with short and mid-term investments. The Albayrak Group continue to make its investments in the port sector that has an important position in the logistics field by means of taking over the 20-year-long management rights of the Mogadishu Port in Somali, which is the brother country of and has an important place for Turkey. With this new venture, the Albayrak Group is glad to acquire one of the ports in Eastern Africa, which carries great strategic importance, on 21 September 2014 with an agreement in the form of taking a share from 45% of the port’s revenue and giving the 55% share to the Somali government. In order to bring the port up to world standards, along with the equipment investments made for the port, before the takeover, and the placing of the Turkish management personnel that are experts in their related subjects, short and mid-term investments are also being planned. The port also became a new income source for the Somali citizens, in terms of new personnel being included in the working team. Our group, which is aiming for non-negligible developments in the development of the Somali economy that already has crucial resources, will be making an effort in installing new lines to the port, which will be serving vital international customers like MSC, SIMA TECH, CMA-CGM, and especially will be using its own past experiences in order to turn the port into a transit one.
