Boston
Boston (pronounced 
i/ˈbɒstən/) is the capital and largest city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States. Boston also served as the historic county seat of Suffolk County until Massachusetts disbanded county government in 1999. The city proper covers 48 square miles (124 km2) with an estimated population of 655,884 in 2014, making it the largest city in New England and the 24th largest city in the United States. Upon American independence from Great Britain, the city continued to be an important port and manufacturing hub, as well as a center for education and culture. Its rich history attracts many tourists, with Faneuil Hall alone drawing over 20 million visitors per year. Barry Goudreau (album)
Barry Goudreau is the debut self-titled album of original Boston guitar front man, Barry Goudreau. With the use of Boston members Brad Delp (vocals), and Sib Hashian (drums), and future Boston singer Fran Cosmo the album displays a sound very similar to that of Boston's first two releases Boston (1976) and Don't Look Back (1978). However, neither this album, nor any of Goudreau's subsequent releases with other acts (Orion The Hunter, RTZ) proved to be as big a commercial success as his work with Boston. The album was released in 1980 and was Goudreau's only solo album. The song "Dreams" was released as a single in 1980 nearly cracking Billboard's top 100 and still receives air play today on Classic rock radio stations along with "Mean Woman Blues".

Elvis Presley
Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King".
Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, as a twinless twin, and when he was 13 years old, he and his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began there in 1954, when he recorded a song with producer Sam Phillips at Sun Records. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was an early popularizer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who managed the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the United States. He was regarded as the leading figure of rock and roll after a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines that coincided with the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, made him enormously popular—and controversial.

Beacon Hill has hardly changed over the past 150 years, an architectural gem with narrow, winding cobbled streets and even today, the wrought ironwork of its balconies and banisters indicate that this is one of Boston's most sought after areas.
In front of the Old South Meeting House, in 1729, thousands of Boston's inhabitants protested against the English king and the taxes that he had imposed upon them. The Old State House is Boston's oldest public building. In 1776, it was here that the Declaration of Independence was read out for the first time.
The Plymouth Plantation is a reconstruction of the Pilgrim Fathers' original settlement and is one of the jewels of the many living museums in the U.S.A. To the southwest of Boston there is the museum town of Old Sturbridge Village in which historic buildings from all over the country have been lovingly replicated. Village inhabitants in historical costumes walk and talk in wide open spaces and act out the scenes of daily life as it was two centuries ago.
New England is the traditional face of America and the heart of America's past.

This is a full breakdown of the fills and solo including the harmony parts. Tom Scholz wrote a very melodic and memorable solo here and got just an amazing "wall of guitars" sound. Really nice playing. The actual licks are not that tough, but it's the way it was recorded and the production that makes it sound so huge. At one point I count 5 guitars playing the last lick of the solo, add those to the 2 acoustic parts and the 2 electric rhythm parts and yeah, that's a lot of guitar...

An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play "More Than a Feeling" by Boston. Arguably Boston's greatest song, this one's a real masterpiece. A lot of this part was originally played on a 12 string. Great writing, lyrics, amazing singing, awesome guitar parts, great drumming and flawless production. When you really listen to this, you can tell an enormous amount of time and effort went into it.
If you learn this acoustic part you've automatically covered 99% of the electric part as the electric rhythm mirrors the acoustic in a lot of sections.
I'll be doing separate tutorials on the electric rhythm parts and also a separate lesson on the lead parts.
The guitar I'm playing here is a Taylor 214ce koa deluxe. I really like this guitar, it intonates amazingly well and it's tone is very balanced. It's also very easy to play.
The strings are Elixir phosphor bronze 12-53 with nanoweb coating. These strings are a little bit more expensive, but for me they easily last 4-5 times longer than non coated strings.

An electric guitar lesson on how to play "More Than a Feeling" by Boston, guitar solo and fills. This is a full breakdown of the fills and solo including the harmony parts.
Tom Scholz wrote a very melodic and memorable solo here and got just an amazing "wall of guitars" sound. Really nice playing.
The actual licks are not that tough, but it's the way it was recorded and the production that makes it sound so huge. At one point I count 5 guitars playing the last lick of the solo, add those to the 2 acoustic parts and the 2 electric rhythm parts and yeah, that's a lot of guitars man!
I get a lot of questions about my tone so here's what I'm using:
My amp is an Egnater Renegade head through a Marshall 1960b cabinet. I use a TC Electronics Nova System through the loop for effects. On almost all songs I just use a digital delay, roughly 400ms, but some stuff I use tap tempo to set the delay. I also use a BB preamp on most lead tones ( just the amp on this solo) and sometimes (rarely) a Boss CS-3 compressor ( I used the compressor on this solo). The reverb is from the amp.
My wah is a Dunlop MC404 CAE Dual Inductor, REALLY great pedal! I also use a Polytune tuner which is a fantastic.
My guitar is a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. I have Suhr Aldrich pickups on it. I use Elixir 10-46 strings.

INFO: This was the first show of a 3 night stay at the Velvets "second home", the Boston Tea Party.
This recording, reputedly made by the "professor",
was not included on the recent Scorpio 4CD box set (for reasons known only to the boys at Scorpio
- maybe they're saving it for a future release along with the Hilltop Rock Festival tape).
This show has long been my personal favourite of all the extant Tea Party recordings.
Lou and Sterling's guitar playing is outstanding, and Moe never misses a beat.
"Move Right In" is just great - Sterling sounds just like a tape loop and Lou's "improvised on the spot"
lyrics are tantalisingly almost intelligible.
"Foggy Notion" is a joyful breeze, with buzzsaw guitars and fine vocals.
Going by Lou's introduction, this would appear to be the first public performance of "Candy Says".
It's certainly the only Velvets recording of it which
I am aware of where Lou actually sings it himself -
he cant quite reach the high notes but there's a certain weary
tenderness to his vocal which I dont think Doug ever managed to achieve, live or in the studio.
This is undoubtedly my favourite version of one of my favourite songs.
No words I can write can adequately describe this performance of "Sister Ray" - over 26 mins
of musical mayhem and lyrical debauchery.
It is simply outstanding.
Overall, the sound quality is not great, but very listenable.
It could no doubt benefit from a little equalisation but I've not tried to improve it in any way.
My cassette "claims" to be a 4th generation copy of the professor's original reel.
With a bit of luck Scorpio have access to the
"remastered" version which Polygram made from the professor's master tape,
and will release it to us all soon.

Moe Tucker: drums
INFO: This was the first show of a 3 night stay at the Velvets "second home", the Boston Tea Party.
This recording, reputedly made by the "professor",
was not included on the recent Scorpio 4CD box set (for reasons known only to the boys at Scorpio
- maybe they're saving it for a future release along with the Hilltop Rock Festival tape).
This show has long been my personal favourite of all the extant Tea Party recordings.
Lou and Sterling's guitar playing is outstanding, and Moe never misses a beat.
"Move Right In" is just great - Sterling sounds just like a tape loop and Lou's "improvised on the spot"
lyrics are tantalisingly almost intelligible.
"Foggy Notion" is a joyful breeze, with buzzsaw guitars and fine vocals.
Going by Lou's introduction, this would appear to be the first public performance of "Candy Says".
It's certainly the only Velvets recording of it which
I am aware of where Lou actually sings it himself -
he cant quite reach the high notes but there's a certain weary
tenderness to his vocal which I dont think Doug ever managed to achieve, live or in the studio.
This is undoubtedly my favourite version of one of my favourite songs.
No words I can write can adequately describe this performance of "Sister Ray" - over 26 mins
of musical mayhem and lyrical debauchery.
It is simply outstanding.
Overall, the sound quality is not great, but very listenable.
It could no doubt benefit from a little equalisation but I've not tried to improve it in any way.
My cassette "claims" to be a 4th generation copy of the professor's original reel.
With a bit of luck Scorpio have access to the
"remastered" version which Polygram made from the professor's master tape,
and will release it to us all soon.
