Few parks can match Kennywood when it comes to historic, hard-to-find rides and attractions. Among the most iconic is the Noah's Ark walkthrough funhouse. Once a common attraction at amusement parks, Kennywood is now home to the only Noah's Ark still in operation. 2016 marks the 80th season for Noah's Ark at Kennywood, and we're celebrating with a major renovation--including the restoration of a beloved feature that was removed in the 1990s.

The Black Widow is a 2012 Zamperla Giant Discovery. It seats 40 people and slowly rotates while swinging riders back and forth like a pendulum reaching speeds up to 70 mph. The ride structure stands at 90' and at the peak of the pendulum's swing height riders will hang 150' off the ground. The ride replaces the 1997 PittFall drop tower ride, which was removed due to maintenance issues and sold to an undisclosed owner outside the US.

Kennywood
Kennywood is an amusement park located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The park first opened as a "trolley park" attraction at the end of the Mellon family's Monongahela Street Railway on May 30, 1899. It was purchased in 1906 by F. W. Henninger and Andrew McSwigan who later formed the Kennywood Entertainment Company, which owned and operated the park as a closely held family business for over 100 years. Kennywood was purchased by California-based Palace Entertainment in 2007. The amusement park features various structures and rides dating back to the early 1900s. Along with Rye Playland Park, it is one of only two amusement parks listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Location
Kennywood is approximately 8 miles (13 km) from Downtown Pittsburgh, in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The park is along Pennsylvania Route 837, known as Kennywood Boulevard as it passes through the borough. The closest Interstate connection is Exit 77 (Edgewood/Swissvale) on Interstate 376. The Mon–Fayette Expressway will eventually go past Kennywood, which will prompt an expansion of the park when it is built.

Through Riders unique storytelling process, the essence of 10 parks are brought to life through character narrators with an intricate script that focuses on the story, with no interviews and few dates or statistics. Behind each park, a creative visionary poured his heart into crafting a park that reflected his personality, from Walt Disney to Milton Hershey. As the film unfolds, it becomes the first American Amusement Park biography. Using an antique 35mm camera, the film combines archival footage as early as 1901, home videos and colorful postcards of the parks, to both educate and entertain, cultivating a greater appreciation for a favorite American pastime. The ride structure stands at 90' and at the peak of the pendulum's swing height riders will hang 150' off the ground. The ride replaces the 1997 PittFall drop tower ride, which was removed due to maintenance issues and sold to an undisclosed owner outside the US.
