Pastor Paul Washer explains just how much of an aberration contemporary American evangelicalism is of actual true, historical Christianity, and how far removed from Scripture it really is. This is an excerpt from his sermon he preached at Virginia Tech entitled, "Dating, Courtship, and Marriage" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP6cc2aBecE). Instead of dealing with the topic at hand, he laid forth the foundation of true Christianity which is in fact a rarity even among the contemporary Christian church culture prevalent in the West.
True Christianity involves a narrow gate and a narrow path that is established, directed, and guided by the words and commands of the Lord Jesus Christ, and requires lifestyles that are dictated and defined by the word of God and not by culture (including the popular church culture which is but godless). Jesus warned that the vast majority of people who identify themselves with Christianity in one way or another, who call Him, "Lord," are actually heading down the broad path that leads to destruction, where they will be told on the day of judgment by the Lord Himself: "I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of iniquity" (Matthew 7:21-23).

New Evangelical publication 'Christianity Today' has claimed that Pope Francis is making the Catholic Church more Protestant; is this true? Pope Francis is promoting prayer and Bible reading, but what kind of prayer and what translation of the scriptures? How should we view this the pope? Is he our 'brother in Christ' as now many professing evangelicals believe, or is he the Antichrist as many reformers believed? Is the American Bible Society a positive influence in the distribution of the Bible? How do the Jesuits aim to attack Protestant Churches?

Richard Bennett highlights the Catholic Churchs official teaching that people are spiritually wounded rather than being spiritually dead in trespasses and sins and in need of conviction and conversion. He shows how this same mindset has become the basis of the so-called gospel message in the New Evangelical movement and its churches. The Catholic mindset of propagating images of Christ now accepted in New Evangelical churches in pictures of Christ, Sunday school materials and DVDs is shown to be the most dangerous of the Catholic mindsets to pervade Christian circles. Please make this DVD known to others, and kindly link to it, if possible. Thank you.

It is evident to me that Bradley Nassif is an ecumenist and modernist for the following reasons: 1. In the book he seems determined to unite with Evangelicals. 2. "He is an enthusiastic promoter of Orthodox-evangelical dialogue around the world." (Three Views, p. 285). 3. "As a representative of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North America, he serves on the Orthodox-Lutheran Bi-Lateral Dialogue of North America." (page 285). 4. In the news report "Monastery Mystery," Bradley Nassif faulted St. Anthony's Monastery for their alleged lack of transparency, and he contrasted them with the alleged transparency of the Evangelical preacher Billy Graham. Perhaps unbeknownst to many people, the Reverend Billy Graham is a Mason and Satanist. (See: The Illuminati Formula to Create an Undetectable Total Mind Control Slave, Chapter 5B, http://educate-yourself.org/mc/illumformula5Bchap.shtml. It is the modernists and ecumenists who are attempting to discredit St. Anthony's Monastery because of the latters opposition to modernism and ecumenism. I believe Bradley Nassif and Archbishop Lazar Puhalo belong to this agenda.
According to my limited knowledge of Scripture, I believe it teaches us to separate from heretics (heterodox), not to dialogue with them (See: Rom. 16:17-18; 2Tim. 2:16-18; 3:5; Titus 3:10-11).
THE ORTHODOX CHURCH
The Orthodox Church was fine-tuned by the Holy Spirit at the beginning for the emergence of spiritual life. I call this the Pneumatic Principle, and compare it with the scientific view of the Anthropic Principle which says that the universe was fine-tuned at the beginning for the emergence of intelligent life on earth.

Once upon a time, evangelicalism was a countercultural upstart movement. Positioned in between mainline denominational liberalism and reactionary fundamentalism, evangelicals saw themselves as evangelists to all of culture.
Billy Graham was reaching the masses with his Crusades, Francis Schaeffer was reaching artists and university students at L'Abri, Larry Norman was recording Jesus music on secular record labels and touring with Janis Joplin and the Doors, and Carl F. H. Henry was reaching the intellectuals through Christianity Today. It was the dawn of "classic evangelicalism."
Surveying the current evangelical landscape, however, one gets the feeling that we're backpedaling quickly. We are more theologically diffuse, culturally gun-shy, and fragmented than ever before. What has happened? And how do we find our way back? Using the life and work of Carl F. H. Henry as a key to evangelicalism's past and a cipher for its future, Recovering Classic Evangelism provides crucial insights for a renewed vision of the church's place in modern society and charts a refreshing course toward unity under the banner of "classic evangelicalism."

Matthew Bowman explores the world of a neglected group of American Christians: the self-identified liberal evangelicals who began in late nineteenth-century New York to reconcile traditional evangelical spirituality with progressive views on social activism and theological questions. These evangelicals emphasized the importance of supernatural conversion experience, but also argued that scientific advances, new movements in art, and the decline in poverty created by a new industrial economy could facilitate encounters with Christ.
The Urban Pulpit chronicles the struggle of liberal evangelicals against conservative Protestants who questioned their theological sincerity and against secular reformers who grew increasingly devoted to the cause of cultural pluralism and increasingly suspicious of evangelicals over the course of the twentieth century. Liberal evangelicals walked a difficult path, facing increasing polarization in twentieth-century American public life; both conservative evangelicals and secular reformers insisted that religion and science were necessarily at odds and that evangelical Christianity was incompatible with cultural diversity. Liberal evangelicals rejected these simple dichotomies, but nonetheless found it increasingly difficult to defend their middle way.
Drawing on history, anthropology, and religious studies, Bowman paints a complex portrait of these understudied Christians at work, at worship, and engaged in advocacy in the public square.

American Evangelicalism is a vast and nearly indefinable coalition movement of sometimes competing, sometimes cooperating denominations and independent churches whose ideological boundaries have been shifting since its postwar reemergence. On the Boundaries of American Evangelicalism seeks to account for the emergence of this coalition of moderate Protestants in the 1940s and 1950s, as distinct from fundamentalism on the right and liberalism on the left, and speculate on the reasons for the fracturing and decline of that coalition in the 1960s to the 1990s. Beyond recounting the history of postwar evangelicalism, this volume's contribution is to our understanding of how movements define their coalitional boundaries and how coalitions change and reconstitute their boundaries over time.

A Cautious Enthusiasm examines the religious, social, and political interplay between eighteenth-century evangelicalism and the Anglican establishment in the lowcountry South. Samuel C. Smith argues that the subjective spirituality inherent in evangelical religion was a catalyst toward political and social consensus among influential Anglican laymen. Smith finds that a close examination of the writings and actions of religion-minded South Carolinians such as Henry Laurens, Christopher Gadsden, and Anglican clergymen Robert Smith and Richard Clarke reveals the influence of evangelical zeal at the highest levels of society.
Taking his study even deeper into the religious life of lowcountry society, Smith identifies radically pietistic elements, some of which originated in the mystical writings and practices of European Roman Catholics, German Pietists, and Huguenot Calvinists. Central to this study is the recognition of Catholic mysticism's impact on the experiential side of early evangelicalism, a subject rarely explored in historical works.
A Cautious Enthusiasm provides a rare examination of Great Awakening revivalism among lowcountry Anglicans by tracing the European origins into the lowcountry South. This study demonstrates how elements of mystical religiosity prodded some to associate evangelical revivalists with Catholicism and displays how subjective elements of religion contributed to a unique patriotic consensus among lowcountry Anglicans in the Revolutionary era.

With Dr. Darren Dochuk, Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Notre Dame
Moving through the heart of the 1960s and 1970s, with some conclusions in our current moment, this lecture will track the final steps that oil patch evangelicals followed to gain political power. Tapping the behind-the-scenes activities of men like Ernest Manning, Billy Graham, and J. Howard Pew, whose work helped bring to fruition such momentous petroleum ventures as the Great Canadian Oil Sands in Fort McMurray, Alberta, it will revaluate the “culture wars” of the period as a struggle between competing visions of fuel as well as family values. Much has been written, of course, about the conservative-liberal tensions that sparked these culture wars and led to the Republican Right’s capture of the White House in 1980. In this closing talk, we will fold issues of energy and environmentalism into the mix, measure evangelicalism’s abiding connections to the oil sector and their impact on the religious movement’s political success, and revisit the Reagan Revolution as a process long in the making and still much in effect. The lecture will conclude with a glimpse at more recent manifestations of evangelicalism’s relationship to crude oil, and the internal and external pressures of a new generation that have begun to undermine it in this new millennium, with America’s Century now past.

With Dr. Darren Dochuk, Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Notre Dame
This lecture explores the earliest rumblings of oil in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and follow the journeys of some of petroleum’s first wildcatters—those who chased subsurface wealth from western Pennsylvania to Texas and Southern California, Southern Ontario to Russia and Indonesia. Drawing on the illustrative life stories of oil titans like Lyman Stewart and Lady Dundonald and diaries of oil drillers who left their farms in Ontario to travel to oil patches around the world, we will explore the relationship of evangelical Protestantism to processes of resource extraction and economic progress, modern technologies, and mechanisms of a new capitalism. With special focus on Lyman Stewart, it will also consider the effects of these dynamics on the “fight for the fundamentals,” struggles between competing theologies and economic outlooks, and theologically informed corporate leaders, that ruptured Protestantism and petroleum in the first decades of the twentieth century.

You will hear Dr. John MacArthur, the late Dr. D. James Kennedy and Dr. R. C. Sproul answer questions about a topic that concerns many of our viewers all over the world. Why is it that the two largest representatives of the Christian faith, namely the Roman Catholic Church and Evangelical Protestants give completely different answers to the questions: How does a person become a Christian? And on what basis does God promise to forgive a person of their sins?

In this short video, a Roman Catholic young man tries to make an argument for his beliefs by blasphemously asserting that Jesus needed the help of men because of his humanity. He also tries to apply the same error to the false notion that people must help Jesus save them.
This kind of synergistic nonsense is not only a damning feature of Roman Catholic theology, but American Evangelicalism as well.

Historian Molly Worthen talks about her book "Apostles of Reason: The Crisis of Authority in American Evangelicalism." Evangelical Christians comprise nearly 25% of the US population and although the tradition has produced a number of outstanding scholars, it has a reputation for promoting anti-intellectualism. Worthen asks: Is it possible to be a religious believer and also an intellectual? How have changes in the academic world impacted Evangelical faith? Can a historian employing secular tools provide an in-depth though sympathetic study of religion?

More from your friendly Neo-Evangelicalism that will not tell you the truth, but a form of truth, will not guide you to Moses, but to decisionism, to make you believe, if possible, that you are saved by making a decision for Christ, and what follows is works, works, and more works, to justify the soul, not that the finished work of Christ, put to one's account, justifies the soul, justification by faith.
In this short clip we have a mocking of God, of Christ, of the Holy Ghost, making all three impotent, cannot do anything unless man first allows them, allows them into their lives by a decision on their part. Such mockery, irreverence, blasphemy, heresy is all pervasive today, no fear of God in the multitude on the broad road of destruction, a godless, lawless age, that is being pushed by such groupings as we see here.

Hand Out Church History - Lecture 37
The Twentieth Century - Neo-Evangelicalism
The Twentieth Century:
Neo-evangelism
1. Remember the situation in the early church: Some thought man was well: Pelagians. Some thought man was sick: Semi-Pelagians. Some thought man was dead:
Augustinians.
2. Among Protestants we still have the “well”—liberals—perhaps 90 percent.
3. We still have the “sick”—evangelicals—perhaps eight percent.
4. We still have the “dead”—Reformed—perhaps two percent.
5. It is the evangelicals we will note especially in this handout. How do the evangelicals make man out to be sick when the Bible, which they know to be inspired, calls
man “dead” (Ephesians 2:1)? They think that they think man is dead! They simply
cannot see that if a man is still able of himself to accept Christ, he cannot be dead.
6. Why is it so important to the modern evangelical that man be considered sick to
death but not spiritually dead? Because if man is sick, he and the evangelist with
the help of the Holy Spirit can save him. If he were dead, only the Holy Spirit
could resurrect him.
7. The evangelicals are not going to give God all the glory. They admit that the
Father sends the Son and claim that the Son died to save everybody, and the
Holy Spirit is willing to help anyone; but, the sinner himself, with the evangelical’s help, must do what alone can save him—believe. Even God unaided cannot
restore him to health. The evangelical cannot do it alone; neither can the Creator
God do it alone. Only sick man can decide the matter.
8. The evangelical even admits that the Holy Spirit does the regenerating of the
sinner. That is a work of the Holy Spirit. It looks for a moment—long enough to
deceive many evangelicals—that they are giving full glory to the third member of
the Trinity, as well as the other two members.
9. Not so. Even though the evangelical Arminian admits that regeneration is the
work of the Holy Spirit alone, it is the sinner alone who allows Him to do it;
indeed, by his self-initiated faith obliges the Spirit to regenerate.
46 Handout Church History
10. In the last analysis, though this concluding part of the twentieth century is the
period of evangelicalism’s greatest seeming power and influence, Arminianism
implicitly denies the glory not only of the Spirit but of the Father, who is not
allowed unconditionally to elect sinners, nor the Son to die specifically for those
the Father gave Him.
