The Best of West Ireland: Dingle, Galway and the Aran Islands
Deepest Ireland is best experienced on its west coast, in the Gaeltacht — where the people speak Gaelic and the rugged villages have changed little over the generations. After exploring the rugged and remote Aran Islands, we settle into Galway, chase a friendly dolphin, and delve into Ireland in the extreme, along the Dingle Peninsula. Ringing with traditional music from its rustic pubs and dotted

STORM DESMOND
By posting this video of Storm Desmond in Salthill, Galway I wish to highlight the absolute madness and stupidity of what these youngsters are doing. I do not know if they are strong swimmers or not, that is not the case, if any one of them got into difficulties there was no one there to do anything for them. The voluntary and rescue services are kept busy enough without having to worry about this type of stupid behaviour.
Please God, everyone will have a happy Christmas, perhaps it could have been very different. I would like to make it very clear that I or anyone else do not condone or see any "macho" side to this incident.
In a couple of hours this video clip has received 168,000 views across the globe and everyone is of the same opinion "fools", "eejits", "morons" and worse. Count your blessings and do not, ever, repeat this type of "stunt". Cathal Devlin

A tour of Galway City is a walk down the streets of a settlement that has seen much. Once a major trading post in the Middle Ages, Galway City also endured a nearly year-long siege during the Cromwellian Conquest of Ireland. Though its fortunes have ebbed and flowed over the years, Galway City is now a vibrant entertainment hub and a beloved destination for visitors from all over the world.
We recommend that your Galway City sightseeing include a look into some of the city’s famed local history. Galway City grew from a settlement around the Dun Bhun na Gaillime, a fort that once overlooked the River Corrib. Once you’ve learned a bit about The City of the Tribes—one of Galway City’s many nicknames—it’s time to find out why Galway City is also referred to as “The Cultural Heart of Ireland.” The residents of this city love music and the arts, and it seems every other day there’s some sort of festival or event going on. Whether you want to attend a concert or celebrate a gallery opening, Galway City probably has something up your alley.
While you can lose count of all the local performances you take in at pubs and cafes, don’t lose sight of Galway City’s natural beauty. As the sun goes down, you can take a stroll along Galway Bay, exchange stories of adventure with the residents, and take a breath of fresh sea air.
What was your favorite part of Galway City?

I took a stroll down the old long walk on a day -I-ay-I-ay
I met a little girl and we stopped to talk on a grand soft day -I-ay-I-ay
Well I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
Because her hair was black and her eyes were blue
And I knew right then - I'd be takin' a whirl
'Round the Salthill Prom with a Galway girl
We were halfway there when the rain came down on the day -I-ay-I-ay
She asked me up to her flat downtown
on a grand soft day -I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you friend, what's a fella to do
Ah - because her hair was black and her eyes were blue
So I took her hand - and I gave it a twirl
Then I lost my heart to a Galway girl
Oi!
Well when I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
And I ask you friend, what would you do?
Well if her hair were black and her eyes were blue
And I've been all around, I've been all over this world
Boys - I've never seen nothin' like a Galway girl

Stories include:
In Dublin I interviewed Niamh Ni Mhir who works for Hostel World,a local IT business that rode the Celtic Tiger to become the biggest Hostel booking website online Niamh explains how Ireland has changed since my last visit, in the early 1990 s and also tells us what it is she likes about living in Dublin.
I interview Kathleen Moran about the Kilkenny Craft Centre and how Kilkenny established itself as Ireland's craft capital.
In Belfast I interviewed Sean McKernan, a photographer who in 1983 set up a photo exhibition called Belfast Exposed, featuring a lot of images from the height of the troubles.
On the Aran Islands I interviewed Teresa Millane, an old style (Sean Nos) singer.
In Galway I interviewed actor Diarmuid de Faoite about the flourishing arts scene.
The small fishing Village of Dingle on the West Coast of Ireland is home to a friendly Dolphin called Fungi, who seems to prefer the company of humans to his own kind.
In Doolin I interviewed Banjo player, Kevin Griffin about why Doolin has become the traditional music capital of Ireland.
Sean now runs an multifunction arts centre called BX Arts.
Sean discusses how Belfast has changed since the 1997 ceasefire.
In Cork I try and trace my Irish ancestors (O'Shea), and look at the modern day immigration of Polish workers to Ireland.
For my final Irish story, I visit Cahersiveen where there are some Stone Forts that may well been the home of my Shea ancestors.

Visit the stunning Cliffs of Moher, walk along the breathtaking Atlantic Edge Walk in the Burren National park & and dive into the bohemian atmosphere of Galway City.
Travel with us to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare located on Ireland’s wild rugged Atlantic coast. The cliffs are the highest cliffs in Europe at 214 meters/700 feet high and were recently voted as the seventh most wonderful heritage site in the world, a global poll conducted by UNESCO.
Departing from Dublin the tour will travel through the counties of Kildare and Limerick before arriving in County Clare. Passing by Bunratty Castle a 15th century medieval Norman fortress and on through Lahinch a world famous surfing and golfing destination. We actually travel through this world famous golf links and along the Atlantic coast.
Arriving at the Cliffs of Moher you benefit from having a premium admittance ticket to the Atlantic Edge an exciting interpretive centre and a new Visitor Experience. Situated in a large domed cave, see photographs, exhibits, displays and experiences that will enchant all who visit. Continue the tour through the dome and experience a virtual reality Cliff face adventure known as THE LEDGE, shown in the audio visual theatre allowing you to experience life at the cliff face both above and below sea level.
Moving outside the visitor centre enjoy a walk along the Cliff face and experience for yourself the exhilarating freedom and the power of nature at work. The fresh air blows in off the ocean and the awe inspiring sheer height of the Cliffs when looking over the edge to the Atlantic are very memorable.
The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometres along the western seaboard of County Clare. Visit O'Brien's Tower which stands proudly on a headland off these wonderful Cliffs and see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay (2 hour stop).
From the Cliffs of Moher we continue our traveling day deep into the Burren. An amazing scenic drive along Europe’s edge ... next stop North America! Along the 'Atlantic Coast' and through the Burren National Park - see 75% of Ireland’s native flora with numerous ancient monuments, Megalithic Tombs (older than the Pyramids!), Fairy Forts and famous Celtic Crosses.
We stop in the Burren and all can enjoy a walk along the Atlantic ledge. Experience this amazing lunar landscape, breath in this wonderful countryside.
Continuing around Galway Bay towards Galway city we pass the Blackhead Lighthouse and on through Kinvara fishing village famed for its Galway Hookers (boats) and Dunguire Castle built in 1520 and originally the royal palace of the King of Connaught.
There are so many stories to be told about this part of Ireland that you will be thrilled that you have chosen to travel with the only day tour company from Dublin that has a dedicated professional tour guide to involve you with everything you see and a driver that must concentrate fully on the road in this very remote part of Ireland.
We arrive in Galway City described by the writer W.B Yeats as “The Venice of the West”. Galway, city of the tribes is Ireland’s cultural capital. This free-spirited, artistic and bohemian city has an ambience all of its own. Take a 30 minute guided walking tour (included in the ticket) and learn all about this medieval city and its Spanish trading connections. After the walking tour you are free to explore the narrow pedestrian musical streets, discover its secrets with numerous speciality shops, boutique and cafes.
Saying good bye to Galway the day tour returns to Dublin. Sit back relax and listen to the music. The on board entertainment will include extracts from the show riverdance and other select examples of Irish culture which is determined by the tour guide whom is looking after you for the day.
Arriving in Dublin with wonderful memories, to be sure!

Rising from the waters of Venice Lagoon is the Italian city of Venice, a city like no other.
Begin your visit in the central district of San Marco, and walk upon one of the world’s great squares, St Mark’s Square. The square is surrounded by some of the city’s finest jewels such as St Mark’s Basilica, St Mark’s Campanile and Doge’s Palace.
Just outside stand the Columns of San Marco and San Teodoro. From here, journey along one of the world’s great aquatic thoroughfares, The Grand Canal. Glide past elegant palazzos; once the homes of wealthy merchants, today many of these palaces house important museums and galleries.
Known as The City Of Bridges, Venice has hundreds to explore. The Accademia Bridge links the San Marco district to the Accademia Gallery, and offers some of the Grand Canal’s finest views. The oldest of the Grand Canal’s four crossings is the Rialto Bridge, which today still serves as the gateway to the Rialto Markets. The most famous of all is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace to the historic prison.
Venice is a city to get lost in, so put away your map and let her surprise you. Discover waterfront promenades of The Zattere and the sleepy canals and spacious piazzas of Castello. On the tiny island of Murano, glassmakers have been creating works of incredible delicacy and color for over 700 years. Further across the lagoon, the island of Burano is famed for its brightly colored houses and exquisite lace.
Venice has shone her light into the far corners of the world for over one and a half thousand years. Just remember, this city smiles upon those who linger. So stay for a few nights, or stay for a month, and savor every moment she has to offer.

Travel video about destination Ireland.
Ireland is one of Europe’s most green and mysterious islands and everyone who visits this isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean is given a very warm welcome. Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and it is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers, as well as being a financial centre. Its many old buildings indicate its long and dramatic past. It was founded by the Vikings within a wonderful valley where the River Liffey flows into the Atlantic Ocean. After the Vikings, the Normans conquered the city and ruled over it for seven hundred years and under King Henry The Eighth Dublin became the capital of what was then a British colony. South west of Dublin is Kildare, the heart of Ireland’s horse racing. In 1902 the Irish national stud, Tully House, was founded there. Rich and eccentric Scottish brewery heir, Colonel William Hall-Walker, had the idea of a creating unique horse breeding scheme that would be based upon astrological calculation. The Wicklow Mountains are a natural paradise of mountains, swamps and lakes, beautiful valleys and a fascinating mountain landscape to the south of Dublin. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century and is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. It was founded in around 1160 by Donal Mac Gillapatrick, the King Of Ossory. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. It is a land of great natural beauty, healthy commercial success and excellent hospitality: a wild green island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean!

Ireland, the Emerald Island. The hills, covered with lush, emerald green grass are full of mystical stone buildings from prehistoric times, Celtic monuments and medieval forts and monasteries. The island is the home of legends, music, poetry and dance. The capital of the Republic of Ireland, Dublin, has many sights worth take a look, for example the Trinity College, Christchurch and the St. Patrick Cathedral, the Parliament, and the National Gallery. The Georgian houses in the vicinity of Merrion Square, with their colorful doors and bronze knockers are the nicest in the city. One cannot skip the Jameson whiskey factory, the Guinness Brewery, and the pubs of the Temple Bar district, where live music is played every evening. Dublin is the city of G. B. Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Yeats, Swift and James Joyce, and the famous Irish dance also originates from here. The countryside has many beautiful castles, parks and charming medieval villages, while nature comforts the visitor with such beauties as the Powerscourt waterfall, the ‘glen of the two lakes’, the limestone plateau of Burren or the Cliffs of Moher.

Travel video about destination Slovenia.
Half of Slovenia's colorful area is covered by forests, but the country also has another part, a tiny, but very nice coastal area on the Adriatic Sea, with such venetian style cities as Izola, Piran and Portoroz, as well as 2,800 meters high mountains and ski resorts.
The picturesque lakes Bled and Bohinj both lie in a wonderful landscape. The gem of the karstic area is the Postojna cave.
The tiny country has plenty of wild rivers suitable for rafting and healing waters. Golf, mountineering, diving, mountain biking and rock climbing are also warmly welcomed in Slovenia.
The Lippizan is well known all around the globe. All of this is completed by such medieval towns as Maribor, Skofja Loka and Ljubljana, and such romantic castles as the Predjama.

Welcome to Cork City, Ireland.
Cork City has a long and varied past. The Irish variant of the name, “Corcaigh,” is derived from the word for “marsh,” though it hasn’t been a marshy area for quite some time. The city is built atop the River Lee, rich splits into two channels around the central area. Cork City has been important avenue for Irish trade since the early 900s, when Vikings used the port as a base of operations. A deep sense of history pervades the area; today, when you stroll down the streets of Cork City, you’re very likely treading over ancient waterways.
When you tour Cork City, consider stopping at the Cork City Gaol. Originally opened in 1824, this gaol was described as “the finest in three kingdoms,” and it has housed both petty criminals and terrifying murderers. After closing in 1923, the gaol found use as a radio station and opened as a museum in 1994.
Squeeze in some additional history in your Cork City sightseeing with a stop at Blackrock Castle Observatory. This 16th-century castle sits on the banks of the River Lee, and within its ancient stone walls are a science center, a restaurant, and an informational section about the city.
