Alaska! is an indie rock trio from the United States. The band was formed in San Francisco by Russell Pollard (formerly of Sebadoh and later of the Folk Implosion), Imaad Wasif (also later of Folk Implosion), with Lesley Ishino (formerly of the Red Aunts) later joining as drummer.

The band released their debut album, Emotions, in 2003, and a second, Rescue Through Tomahawk in 2005.

Alaska (
i/əˈlæskə/) is a U.S. state situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent. Bordering the state to the east are the Canadian territory of Yukon and the Canadian province of British Columbia; to the north are the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas, southern parts of the Arctic Ocean. To the west and south is the Pacific Ocean, with Russia (specifically, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and Kamchatka Krai) farther west across the Bering Strait. Alaska is the largest state in the United States by area, the 3rd least populous and the least densely populated of the 50 United States. Approximately half of Alaska's residents (estimated at 738,432 by the Census Bureau in 2015) live within the Anchorage metropolitan area. Alaska's economy is dominated by the oil, natural gas, and fishing industries, resources which it has in abundance. Tourism and military bases are also a significant part of the economy.
Although it had been occupied for over ten thousand years by indigenous peoples, from the 18th century onward, European powers considered the territory of Alaska ripe for exploitation and trade. The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million U.S. dollars at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km2). The area went through several administrative changes before becoming organized as a territory on May 11, 1912. It was admitted as the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.

Audio of Alaska Airlines pilot during emergency landing in Oregon
Investigators have asked the public to help find an airplane door that blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 Friday and likely fell near Beaverton’s Cedar Hills neighborhood. The accident occurred shortly after a flight to Ontario, California, departed from Portland International Airport and the unused mid-cabin door that was plugged by an interior window panel came off of the airplane. The sudden decompression caused minor injuries to a person sitting near the hole but did not otherwise cause physical harm to the plane’s 171 passengers, officials have said. Boeing aircrafts grounded for inspection after Alaska Airlines incident
More than 170 Boeing aircraft remain grounded around the world, with flight cancellations likely, after part of a plane's fuselage fell off in mid-air. The Alaska Airlines plane turned back minutes into its flight with all 177 passengers and crew onboard returned to safety. The Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 had only entered service eight weeks before. Aviation bosses in the United States have said all similar models cannot fly until they are inspected. Investigators have asked the public to help find an airplane door that blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 Friday and likely fell near Beaverton’s Cedar Hills neighborhood.
The accident occurred shortly after a flight to Ontario, California, departed from Portland International Airport and the unused mid-cabin door that was plugged by an interior window panel came off of the airplane. The sudden decompression caused minor injuries to a person sitting near the hole but did not otherwise cause physical harm to the plane’s 171 passengers, officials have said.

মোট ৫০টি স্টেইট বা অঙ্গরাজ্য মিলে গঠিত যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে আয়তনের বিচারে বৃহত্তম অঙ্গরাজ্যটির নাম আলাস্কা। প্রায় ৭ লাখ বর্গ মাইল আয়তনের আলাস্কা ১৯৫৯ সালের তেসরা জানুয়ারি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ৪৯তম অঙ্গরাজ্যে পরিনত হয়। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অংশ হলেও আলাস্কা থেকে রাশিয়ার মূল ভূখণ্ডের দূরত্ব মাত্র ৫৫ মাইল বা ৮৮ কিলোমিটার। উনবিংশ শতকেও আলাস্কা এই রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের নিয়ন্ত্রণেই পরিচালিত হতো।
মূলত অষ্টাদশ শতকে এখানে উপনিবেশ স্থাপন করে রাশিয়া। এরপর উনবিংশ শতকের দ্বিতীয় অর্ধে ক্রাইমিয়া যুদ্ধের খরচ মেটাতে গিয়ে রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের কোষাগার প্রায় শূণ্যের কোঠায় চলে গিয়েছিল। ১৮৫৬ সালে সেই যুদ্ধে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে পরাজিত হবার পর রাজ কোষাগারকে চাঙা করে তুলতে আলাস্কা অঞ্চলটি বিক্রি করে দেবার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন রুশ সম্রাট দ্বিতীয় অ্যালেকজান্ডার। সেই সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ১৮৬৭ সালে মাত্র ৭২ লাখ ডলারের বিনিময়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে পুরো আলাস্কা বিক্রি করে দেয় রাশিয়া।
৭২ লাখ ডলারের বিনিময়ে ১৫ লাখ বর্গ কিলোমিটার বা প্রায় ৬ লাখ বর্গ মাইল স্থলভাগের ওপর কর্তৃত্ব পেয়ে যায় যুক্তরাষ্ট্র। অর্থাত ১৮৬৭ সালে আলাস্কার প্রতি একর জমির জন্য মাত্র দুই সেন্ট করে খরচ করে ওয়াশিংটন। বর্তমান বাজারমূল্য অনুযায়ী আলাস্কার দাম পড়েছিল প্রায় এক কোটি ৩৫ লাখ ডলার। অর্থাত বর্তমান বাজারমূল্য অনুযায়ী আলাস্কার প্রতি একর জমি কিনতে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকারের সাইত্রিশ সেন্ট করে খরচ করতে হয়েছিল। মজার ব্যাপার হলো, এই আলাস্কা থেকে বর্তমানে প্রতিবছর প্রায় ৫০ বিলিয়ন ডলার মূল্যের জ্বালানী তেল রপ্তানী করা হচ্ছে। সেই হিসেবে বলা যায় রাশিয়া তাদের স্বর্ণের ডিম পাড়া হাসটিকে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে প্রায় বিনা মূল্যেই বিক্রি করে দিয়েছিল। আজ আপনাদের এই আলাস্কা সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত জানাবো।

মোট ৫০টি স্টেইট বা অঙ্গরাজ্য মিলে গঠিত যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে আয়তনের বিচারে বৃহত্তম অঙ্গরাজ্যটির নাম আলাস্কা। প্রায় ৭ লাখ বর্গ মাইল আয়তনের আলাস্কা ১৯৫৯ সালের তেসরা জানুয়ারি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ৪৯তম অঙ্গরাজ্যে পরিনত হয়। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অংশ হলেও আলাস্কা থেকে রাশিয়ার মূল ভূখণ্ডের দূরত্ব মাত্র ৫৫ মাইল বা ৮৮ কিলোমিটার। উনবিংশ শতকেও আলাস্কা এই রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের নিয়ন্ত্রণেই পরিচালিত হতো।
মূলত অষ্টাদশ শতকে এখানে উপনিবেশ স্থাপন করে রাশিয়া। এরপর উনবিংশ শতকের দ্বিতীয় অর্ধে ক্রাইমিয়া যুদ্ধের খরচ মেটাতে গিয়ে রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের কোষাগার প্রায় শূণ্যের কোঠায় চলে গিয়েছিল। ১৮৫৬ সালে সেই যুদ্ধে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে পরাজিত হবার পর রাজ কোষাগারকে চাঙা করে তুলতে আলাস্কা অঞ্চলটি বিক্রি করে দেবার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন রুশ সম্রাট দ্বিতীয় অ্যালেকজান্ডার। সেই সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ১৮৬৭ সালে মাত্র ৭২ লাখ ডলারের বিনিময়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে পুরো আলাস্কা বিক্রি করে দেয় রাশিয়া।
৭২ লাখ ডলারের বিনিময়ে ১৫ লাখ বর্গ কিলোমিটার বা প্রায় ৬ লাখ বর্গ মাইল স্থলভাগের ওপর কর্তৃত্ব পেয়ে যায় যুক্তরাষ্ট্র। অর্থাত ১৮৬৭ সালে আলাস্কার প্রতি একর জমির জন্য মাত্র দুই সেন্ট করে খরচ করে ওয়াশিংটন। বর্তমান বাজারমূল্য অনুযায়ী আলাস্কার দাম পড়েছিল প্রায় এক কোটি ৩৫ লাখ ডলার। অর্থাত বর্তমান বাজারমূল্য অনুযায়ী আলাস্কার প্রতি একর জমি কিনতে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকারের সাইত্রিশ সেন্ট করে খরচ করতে হয়েছিল। মজার ব্যাপার হলো, এই আলাস্কা থেকে বর্তমানে প্রতিবছর প্রায় ৫০ বিলিয়ন ডলার মূল্যের জ্বালানী তেল রপ্তানী করা হচ্ছে। সেই হিসেবে বলা যায় রাশিয়া তাদের স্বর্ণের ডিম পাড়া হাসটিকে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে প্রায় বিনা মূল্যেই বিক্রি করে দিয়েছিল। আজ আপনাদের এই আলাস্কা সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত জানাবো।

Investigators have asked the public to help find an airplane door that blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 Friday and likely fell near Beaverton’s Cedar Hills neighborhood.
The accident occurred shortly after a flight to Ontario, California, departed from Portland International Airport and the unused mid-cabin door that was plugged by an interior window panel came off of the airplane. The sudden decompression caused minor injuries to a person sitting near the hole but did not otherwise cause physical harm to the plane’s 171 passengers, officials have said.

A passenger posted a photo showing a gaping hole in the side of the aeroplane next to passenger seats. It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured.
The airline said the plane landed safely with 174 passengers and six crew members.

মোট ৫০টি স্টেইট বা অঙ্গরাজ্য মিলে গঠিত যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে আয়তনের বিচারে বৃহত্তম অঙ্গরাজ্যটির নাম আলাস্কা। প্রায় ৭ লাখ বর্গ মাইল আয়তনের আলাস্কা ১৯৫৯ সালের তেসরা জানুয়ারি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ৪৯তম অঙ্গরাজ্যে পরিনত হয়। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের অংশ হলেও আলাস্কা থেকে রাশিয়ার মূল ভূখণ্ডের দূরত্ব মাত্র ৫৫ মাইল বা ৮৮ কিলোমিটার। উনবিংশ শতকেও আলাস্কা এই রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের নিয়ন্ত্রণেই পরিচালিত হতো।
মূলত অষ্টাদশ শতকে এখানে উপনিবেশ স্থাপন করে রাশিয়া। এরপর উনবিংশ শতকের দ্বিতীয় অর্ধে ক্রাইমিয়া যুদ্ধের খরচ মেটাতে গিয়ে রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের কোষাগার প্রায় শূণ্যের কোঠায় চলে গিয়েছিল। ১৮৫৬ সালে সেই যুদ্ধে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে পরাজিত হবার পর রাজ কোষাগারকে চাঙা করে তুলতে আলাস্কা অঞ্চলটি বিক্রি করে দেবার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন রুশ সম্রাট দ্বিতীয় অ্যালেকজান্ডার। সেই সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ১৮৬৭ সালে মাত্র ৭২ লাখ ডলারের বিনিময়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে পুরো আলাস্কা বিক্রি করে দেয় রাশিয়া।
৭২ লাখ ডলারের বিনিময়ে ১৫ লাখ বর্গ কিলোমিটার বা প্রায় ৬ লাখ বর্গ মাইল স্থলভাগের ওপর কর্তৃত্ব পেয়ে যায় যুক্তরাষ্ট্র। অর্থাত ১৮৬৭ সালে আলাস্কার প্রতি একর জমির জন্য মাত্র দুই সেন্ট করে খরচ করে ওয়াশিংটন। বর্তমান বাজারমূল্য অনুযায়ী আলাস্কার দাম পড়েছিল প্রায় এক কোটি ৩৫ লাখ ডলার। অর্থাত বর্তমান বাজারমূল্য অনুযায়ী আলাস্কার প্রতি একর জমি কিনতে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকারের সাইত্রিশ সেন্ট করে খরচ করতে হয়েছিল। মজার ব্যাপার হলো, এই আলাস্কা থেকে বর্তমানে প্রতিবছর প্রায় ৫০ বিলিয়ন ডলার মূল্যের জ্বালানী তেল রপ্তানী করা হচ্ছে। সেই হিসেবে বলা যায় রাশিয়া তাদের স্বর্ণের ডিম পাড়া হাসটিকে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কাছে প্রায় বিনা মূল্যেই বিক্রি করে দিয়েছিল। আজ আপনাদের এই আলাস্কা সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত জানাবো।
