The Prayer of Russians (Russian: Молитва русских, Molitva russkikh) was a song used as the national anthem of Imperial Russia from 1816 to 1833.
After defeating the First French Empire, Tsar Alexander I of Russia recommended a national anthem for Russia. The lyrics were written by Vasily Zhukovsky, and the music of the British anthem God Save the King was used.
In 1833, "The Prayer of Russians" was replaced with "God Save the Tsar" (Bozhe, tsarya khrani). The two songs both start with the same words Bozhe, tsarya khrani but differ after that.

Russian submarine from the past frightens Sweden
A sunken mini-submarine was discovered off the cost of Sweden. Supposedly, the submarine sank back in 1916. Most likely, the sub had arrived in the area from the Russian Empire. Ocean X Team divers saw Cyrillic symbols on the hulk of the vessel. Most likely, the submarine sank as a result of a collision with another vessel in poor visibility during the First World War.

Travel video about destination Moskva in Russia.
Moscow is the capital of Russia and the largest city in Europe. Both Tsar rule and soviet communism gave the city its present appearance. It has witnessed much change and has become a prosperous city and one of contrast and the superlative, of millionaires and also the very poor. Vasiliya Blazhennovo Khram, Basilius Cathedral, is one of the main landmarks of the Russian metropolis and was built at the command of Moscow sovereign, Ivan The Fourth, also known as Ivan The Terrible, Russia’s first Tsar. The cathedral is representative of Moscow’s architecture with red brick monuments and an accumulation of onion-shaped towers. The Kremlin extends beyond a red wall and various towers that date back to the fifteenth century. Since time immemorial it has been the seat of both tsars and bishops and in front of its walls is Red Square that was once used as a marketplace and also a place of execution. Here the death penalty was declared and immediately carried out. Arbatskaya is a city district west of the Kremlin. In the fifteenth century, the craftsmen and servants of the Tsar lived there and then followed artists, intellectuals and aristocrats. In 1935 the Metro was inaugurated and had thirteen stations. Today there are more than a hundred located along two hundred and sixty kilometres of rail, used by millions each and every day. The Moscow Underground is fast, cheap and quite splendid. Its stations are veritable works of art! When the Tsar’s empire vanished, the realm of the Communist rulers was torn apart. But the mega metropolis of Moscow managed to survive. A restless and powerful city of fantastic culture and truly dramatic history.

Moscow (Russian: Москва) is the 860 year-old capital of the Russian Federation. A truly iconic, global city, Moscow has played a central role in the development of the Russian state and indeed the world. For many, the sight of the Kremlin complex in the centre of the city is still loaded with symbolism and history - Moscow was the capital of the former Soviet Union and signs of its previous life are very visible even now. Yet, there's more to Russia and its capital than just memories of the USSR. Architectural gems from the time of the Russian Empire are still dotted throughout Moscow, whilst signs of modern Tsars (or at least people with similar levels of wealth) abound.
An essential guide to Moscow, including advice on the best hotels, restaurants, bars and attractions, and transport tips and recommendations, by Marc Bennetts, our Moscow expert. Click on the tabs below for the best places to stay, eat, drink and shop, including the best things to do and what to do on a short break.
For the chance to visit such well-known sights as Red Square, the Kremlin, and Lenin’s tomb. But also to experience the 24-hour buzz of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities – a sprawling metropolis of more than 10 million people, packed with nightclubs, bars and shopping centres.
And culture, too. From the stunning large-scale canvases of old masters such as Ilya Repin to priceless religious icons, the Tretyakov Gallery is the place to draw breath after a day in the Russian capital.
In the evening, dress up for a visit to the opera or the ballet. If you have any time left, stroll on the Old Arbat, Moscow’s main tourist stretch that was once home to some of Russia’s finest writers and composers.
Once one of the world’s most expensive cities for tourists and business travellers, the collapse of the rouble means Moscow is suddenly a lot more affordable.
Two times of year stand out – from early May to mid July, before it gets too hot; and around New Year, to experience the unforgettable visages of a real Russian winter.

Travel video about destination Heremitage in Russia.
The Russian flag still waves proudly above the roof of the Heremitage in St. Petersburg, the former Winter Palace of the tsars. However, despite the meaning of its French name it is no longer a place of seclusion. Designed by Rastrelli and built between 1754 and 1762, today the Eremitage is the centre of an art museum that consists of several buildings. The impressive Peter Hall is dedicated to the legendary founder of the Russian Empire, Peter The Great. Indeed, it is a remarkable work of art in its own right and both the Parade Stairs and Jordan Stairs are fine examples of the Winter Palace’s dramatic architecture. The purchase of more than two hundred paintings from Berlin formed the basis of the Russian aristocracy’s passion for art and served as the catalyst for the subsequent museum. Works by the most famous Italian artists, including Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raffael, have their own splendid exhibition rooms within the Eremitage. In addition to its remarkable works of art, the museum also contains a large number of archaeological discoveries and artistic treasures from entire cultural epochs. The Eremitage is an art museum of the superlative. It contains a total of 2.7 million exhibits many of which are the finest examples of their kind. The Eremitage, the former Winter Palace of the Russian tsars and today the greatest museum in Russia, is a veritable palace of outstanding art and history.

"At the height of its power the Russian Empire stretched across 15 times zones, incorporated nearly 160 different ethnicities, and made up one sixth of the entire world's landmass. What started as a few small principalities was shaped into an indomitable world power by the sheer force of its leaders. However, building the infrastructure of this empire came at an enormous price. As Russia entered the 20th century, her expansion reached critical mass as her rulers pushed progress at an unsustainable pace and her population reacted in a revolution that changed history. From the Moscow Kremlin, to the building of St. Petersburg, examine the architecture and infrastructure that enabled the rise and fall of the Russian Empire.
The Russian Empire (Pre-reform Russian orthography: Россійская Имперія, Modern Russian: Российская империя, translit: Rossiyskaya Imperiya) was a state that existed from 1721 until the Russian Revolution of 1917. It was the successor to the Tsardom of Russia and the predecessor of the short-lived Russian Republic, which was in turn succeeded by the Soviet Union. One of the largest empires in world history, the Russian Empire was surpassed in landmass only by the British and Mongol empires. At one point in 1866 it stretched from eastern Europe across Asia and into North America.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the Russian Empire extended from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Black Sea on the south, from the Baltic Sea on the west to the Pacific Ocean and into North America on the east. With 125.6 million subjects registered by the 1897 census, it had the third largest population in the world at the time, after Qing China and the British Empire. Like all empires, it represented a large disparity in terms of economics, ethnicity and religion. Its government, ruled by an Emperor, was an absolute monarchy until the Revolution of 1905. Afterwards it became a constitutional monarchy, though its Emperor continued to wield considerable power during the new political regime until the final demise of the empire during the February Revolution of 1917, the result of strains brought about by participation in World War I.
Russian architecture follows a tradition whose roots were established in the Eastern Slavic state of Kievan Rus'. After the fall of Kiev, Russian architectural history continued in the principalities of Vladimir-Suzdal, Novgorod, the succeeding states of the Tsardom of Russia, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and the modern Russian Federation.
The administrative boundaries of European Russia, apart from Finland and its portion of Poland, coincided approximately with the natural limits of the East-European plains. In the North it met the Arctic Ocean. The islands of Novaya Zemlya, Kolguyev and Vaigach also belonged to it, but the Kara Sea was referred to Siberia. To the East it had the Asiatic territories of the Empire, Siberia and the Kyrgyz steppes, from both of which it was separated by the Ural Mountains, the Ural River and the Caspian Sea — the administrative boundary, however, partly extending into Asia on the Siberian slope of the Urals. To the South it had the Black Sea and Caucasus, being separated from the latter by the Manych depression, which in Post-Pliocene times connected the Sea of Azov with the Caspian. The West boundary was purely conventional: it crossed the peninsula of Kola from the Varangerfjord to the Gulf of Bothnia. Thence it ran to the Kurisches Haff in the southern Baltic, and thence to the mouth of the Danube, taking a great circular sweep to the West to embrace Poland, and separating Russia from Prussia, Austrian Galicia and Romania.
It is a special feature of Russia that it has few free outlets to the open sea other than on the ice-bound shores of the Arctic Ocean. The deep indentations of the gulfs of Bothnia and Finland were surrounded by what is ethnological Finnish territory, and it is only at the very head of the latter gulf that the Russians had taken firm foothold by erecting their capital at the mouth of the Neva. The Gulf of Riga and the Baltic belong also to territory which was not inhabited by Slavs, but by Baltic and Finnish peoples and by Germans. The East coast of the Black Sea belonged to Transcaucasia, a great chain of mountains separating it from Russia. But even this sheet of water is an inland sea, the only outlet of which, the Bosphorus, was in foreign hands, while the Caspian, an immense shallow lake, mostly bordered by deserts, possessed more importance as a link between Russia and its Asiatic settlements than as a channel for intercourse with other countries.

Travel video about destination Trans Siberian Railroad in Siberia.
The most beautiful section of the Trans Siberian Railroad travels from Irkutsk in Siberia to the massive Lake Baikal. It takes in Ulan Ude as well as the border town of Nauschki and terminates at the Mongolian capital of Ulaan Baatar. Varied landscapes and exotic towns turn this journey into a fascinating adventure.Travelling from Moscow, and after a total of three days and more than five thousand kilometres on the train, we disembark at Irkutsk, the most beautiful city in Siberia. The city became home of the Dekrabisten who fought for liberty in the former Tsarist empire and were eventually banished to Siberia where they introduced their own culture. In Port Baikal is the remarkable and modern Circum-Baikal train that takes a full day to travel around Lake Baikal. Ulan Ude is an exotic city with a population of a million and for the first time we get a feeling of being in Asia. However, the largest head of Lenin in the world emphasises the region’s association with Mother Russia. In 1666 a winter fortress was built on the Uda River by Russian Cossacks who were travelling east, the Verchneundinsk Fortress. Ulaan Baatar: the station is very quiet. Under the severe stare of the female train guards, passengers leave the train and the luggage is unloaded. The Trans Siberian Railroad is still the longest railway line in the world and connects the continents of Europe and Asia. It is truly a technical miracle and a legend that has survived the passage of time.

The first historical reference to Warsaw dates back to the year 1313, when initially Kraków served as the Polish capital city. Due to its central location between the Commonwealth's capitals of Kraków and Vilnius, Warsaw became the capital of the Commonwealth and the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland when King Sigismund III Vasa moved his court from Kraków to Warsaw in 1596. After the Third Partition of Poland in 1795, Warsaw was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia. In 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars, the city became the official capital of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, a puppet state of the First French Empire created by Napoleon Bonaparte. With accordance to the decision of the Congress of Vienna, Warsaw in 1815 was annexed by the Russian Empire and became part of the "Congress Kingdom". Only in 1918 it regained independence from the foreign rule and emerged as a new capital of the independent Republic of Poland. Along with the German invasion in 1939, the massacre of the Jewish population and deportations to concentration camps led to the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto in 1943 and to a major and devastating Warsaw Uprising between August and October 1944. For this Warsaw gained the title of the "Phoenix City" because it has survived many wars, conflicts and invasions throughout its long history. Most notably, the city had to be painstakingly rebuilt after the extensive damage it suffered in World War II, during which 85% of its buildings were destroyed. On 9 November 1940, the city was awarded Poland's highest military decoration for heroism, the Virtuti Militari, during the Siege of Warsaw (1939). (wikipedia)

ABOUT WARSAW:
Warsaw (Polish: Warszawa [varˈʂava] ( listen); see also other names), is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River, in east-central Poland, roughly 260 kilometres (160 mi) from the Baltic Sea and 300 kilometres (190 mi) from the Carpathian Mountains. Its population is estimated at 1.740 million residents within a greater metropolitan area of 2.666 million residents, which makes Warsaw the 9th most populous capital city in the European Union.[2][3][4] The city limits cover 516.9 square kilometres (199.6 sq mi), while the metropolitan area covers 6,100.43 square kilometres (2,355.39 sq mi).[5]
In 2012 Warsaw was ranked as the 32nd most liveable city in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit.[6] It was also ranked as one of the most liveable cities in Central and Eastern Europe. Today Warsaw is considered an Alpha– global city, a major international tourist destination and a significant cultural, political and economic hub.[7][8][9] Warsaw's economy, by a wide variety of industries, is characterised by FMCG manufacturing, metal processing, steel and electronic manufacturing and food processing. The city is a significant centre of research and development, BPO, ITO, as well as Polish media industry. The Warsaw Stock Exchange is one of the largest and most important in Central Europe. Frontex, the European Union agency for external border security, is headquartered in Warsaw. Unusually for a European city, Warsaw has a prominent skyline with many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings in the city center. Warsaw is one of only a few cities in the European Union that have such a skyline, together with Frankfurt, London and Paris.

For this Warsaw gained the title of the "phoenix city" because it has survived so many wars, conflicts and invasions throughout its long history. Most notably, the city had to be painstakingly rebuilt after the extensive damage it suffered in World War II, during which 85% of its buildings were destroyed.[11][12] On 9 November 1940 the city was awarded Poland's highest military decoration for heroism, the Virtuti Militari, during the Siege of Warsaw (1939).[13][14]
The city is the seat of a Roman Catholic archdiocese (left bank) and diocese (right bank of the Vistula), and possesses various universities, most notably the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Warsaw University, an opera house, theatres, museums, libraries and monuments. The historic city centre of Warsaw with its picturesque Old Town in 1980 was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other main architectural attractions include the Castle Square with the Royal Castle and the iconic King Sigismund's Column, St. John's Cathedral, Market Square, palaces, churches and mansions all displaying a richness of colour and architectural detail. Buildings are representatives of nearly every European architectural style and historical period. Warsaw has wonderful examples of architecture from the gothic, renaissance, baroque and neoclassical periods and around a quarter of the city is filled with grand parks and royal gardens.

TRAVEL VLOG IN WARSAW, TRAVEL IN WARSAW, TRIP IN WARSAW.. WARSAW. POLAND TRAVEL.
The first historical reference to Warsaw dates back to the year 1313, when initially Kraków served as the Polish capital city. Due to its central location between the Commonwealth's capitals of Kraków and Vilnius, Warsaw became the capital of the Commonwealth and the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland when King Sigismund III Vasa moved his court from Kraków to Warsaw in 1596.[10] After the Third Partition of Poland in 1795, Warsaw was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia. For this Warsaw gained the title of the "phoenix city" because it has survived so many wars, conflicts and invasions throughout its long history. Travel video about destination St. Peter & St. Paul in Russia.
The Peter And Paul Fortress is the historic centre of the tsar's city of St. Petersburg and is located on Rabbits Island within the mouth of the Newa River. Its slender, gilded bell tower is 122 high and is one of the city's most dominant landmarks. The cathedral was built between 1712 and 1733 and contains both Dutch and Early Baroque building styles. Since Peter The Great the building was used mainly as a place of burial for the tsars and the Tsarina Catharine The Great lies within a sarcophagus of white Carrara marble. Numerous wall paintings and captured flags from the wars against the Swedes and the Osmanic Empire still decorate the splendid interior of the cathedral. In front of the main guard house there is a controversial bronze sculpture by the Russian, Michail Schemjakin, that depicts Peter The Great with a strikingly small head. The Peter And Paul Fortress never saw battle and was later converted into a state prison. The participants of the December Revolt which took place in 1825 were also imprisoned within its walls and until the October Revolution in 1917 the fortress also served as a notorious prison for the enemies and critics of the tsars. During the Revolution, the canons of the fortress fired forty shots at the Winter Palace that is located on the opposite bank of the Newa. Today, the thunder of canon is a daily event and punctually at noon a shot is fired from the Naryschkin Bastion. With this simple ceremony due homage is paid to an age old tradition of Peter The Great as it was in this way that he announced lunchtime for all the inhabitants of the city!

In which John Green teaches you, at long last, about the most exceptional bunch of empire-building nomads in the history of the world, the Mongols! How did the Mongols go from being a relatively small band of herders who occasionally engaged in some light hunting-gathering to being one of the most formidable fighting forces in the world? It turns out Genghis Khan was a pretty big part of it, but you probably already knew that. The more interesting questions might be, what kind of rulers were they, and what effect did their empire have on the world we know today? Find out, as John FINALLY teaches you about the Mongols.

Travel video about destination London in England.
London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts.
The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison.
After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created.
The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began.
Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex.
The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

Could you imagine a symbol of the United States of America in a heart of St.Petersburg? It could have been a genuine United States coat of arms or a Great Seal if it also held a bundle of arrows.
This symbol was placed on the facade of a building, commissioned and build by “Singer”, a United States company known for sewing machines manufacture.
At the end of 19th century the company management decided to establish a new production facility in Russia. Needless to say that great American manufacture desired to find a decent looking office for such. To build one in a heart of Russian capital would be impressive itself, but how much? Its extraordinary appearance was supposed to be reinforced by its sky-scraping apex.
And last but not least, are you familiar to Facebook? We have our own social network analog in Russia called “V kontakte”. Its headquarters located in this beautiful building, a true impersonation of St. Petersburg Modern.

Welcome to Ukraine, one of Europe's last hidden treasures. Long in the shadow of the Soviet Empire, this lovely country, rich in history, culture and natural beauty, regained its independence in 1991 and opened its doors to the world. From gorgeous Odessa, the gateway to the Black Sea, to Yalta and its world-class beaches, to Zaporozhye, the home of the fearless Cossack warriors, and to cosmopolitan Kiev, with its wide, tree-lined boulevards and a thousand-year-old history, Ukraine is a true treasure chest of natural and man-made attractions waiting to be explored. We are pleased to introduce to you this new and exciting travel destination in the hopes that we may one day share in the pleasure of your company as you discover Ukraine with us.
One of the best ways to explore this diverse country is by cruising the magnificent Dnieper River. At 1,420 miles in length, it is the third longest river in Europe, after the Volga and the Danube. The benefits of a river cruise are many. No packing and unpacking, as our floating hotel will take you from one exciting destination to the next. All your meals are included, as are most of your shore excursions. Our on-board staff of guides, cruise directors, and talented entertainers will delight you with their lectures, music, and hospitality. Sit back and enjoy an unforgettable journey from Odessa to Kiev, and all of the unique Ukrainian stops in between.
As either a starting or ending point for our cruises, Odessa is sure to delight you. A mild climate and a youthful, vibrant population have drawn the rich and the famous to this Black Sea port for centuries. Its most famous citizen, the French Duke De Richelieu, transformed the city into a thriving center of commerce and culture. Its Opera House, and the Potemkin Stairs, are world-renowned, while its tree-lined promenades and classical buildings painted in pastel hues invoke another era. Life on board our floating hotel will be as exciting as the ports you will be visiting.
Our first stop, Sevastopol, is home to the Russian Navy's feared Black Sea Fleet. Closed to foreign visitors until the early 1990s, Sevastopol today is a city of clean and orderly boulevards, neo-classical Russian buildings, and the unique Panorama Museum. As our ship sails from Sevastopol to Yalta, the optional bus excursion across the Crimean peninsula will take you to see the unique cliff-side fortress of Swallow's Nest. The historic Livadia Palace, the location where Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill decided the fate of post-war Europe, will be equally impressive. Stunningly situated between the Crimean mountains and the Black Sea, Yalta has been a major destination for poets, politicians, artists, writers, and the Russian Czar's family. Kherson is the gateway to the Dnieper delta. Here, you will board smaller boats that will take you to an authentic Ukrainian fishing village. A local family will host an al fresco lunch, accompanied with some improvised entertainment.
Zaporozhye, a name that conjures up images of fierce, pony-tailed warriors, is also the home of the first independence movements of Ukraine. Here you will enjoy a tour of the city, and a visit to the unique Zaporozhye Cossack museum. The optional Cossack show will feature their horsemanship, weapon skills, and music. Home to Ukraine's favorite son, Taras Shevchenko, Kanev is both his birthplace and burial ground. After a tour of his museum, you will enjoy a special shashlik barbecue. There will be wine, entertainment, and a selection of songs performed by our enthusiastic flower girls.
Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, is also recognized as the birthplace of Kievan Rus, or Russia. It came to be in 988, when Prince Vladmir the Great baptized the whole country and introduced Christianity to this part of the world. Today, it's a city of wide boulevards, giant chestnut trees, and a smiling and youthful population. The people are friendly, the city is beautiful. We hope you have enjoyed our short intro to Ukraine. we also hope we will have the pleasure of your company in the nearest future, as we sail along the beautiful Black Sea and the romantic Dnieper River.

Restaurants in Helsinki - Finland
The Helsinki restaurants below have been grouped into three pricing categories:
Expensive (over €90)
Moderate (€30 to €90)
Cheap (under €30)
These Helsinki restaurant prices are for an average three-course meal for one, including half a bottle of house wine or cheapest equivalent; they do not include tax or tip.
G W Sundmans
Price: Expensive
Cuisine: Finnish
Set in a stately Engel-designed house on Eteläranta - and named after the building's former owner, naval commander G W Sundman - this elegant eatery conjures up the romance of 19th-century Helsinki. The menu makes extensive use of local specialities like zander, arctic char and reindeer, and the house puddings are legendary. The cheaper Sundmans Krog is an alternative eatery at the same address. Closed Saturday lunchtime and Sunday.
Address: Eteläranta 16, Helsinki, Finland
Restaurant Palace
Price: Expensive
Cuisine: Finnish and European
Offering commanding views of the sea, Restaurant Palace is one of a suite of glamorous restaurants in Helsinki run by the owners of Hotel Kämp. The restaurant opened in 1952 to cater to high fliers attending the Olympics, and it still leads the way in Finnish gastronomy. The exciting à la carte menu changes every month, fusing modern European ideas with fresh Finnish ingredients, and the wine list is exceptional. Its crayfish parties are also legendary.
Address: Eteläranta 10, Helsinki, Finland
Chez Dominique
Price: Expensive
Cuisine: Nordic and French
Effortlessly refined, Chez Dominique brings the French concept of degustation to the Helsinki dining scene. Chef Hans Välimäki uses Finnish ingredients and French know-how to create some inspired combinations, but diners choose from a series of 'surprise menus' and the exquisite dishes are only revealed as they are brought to the table. A wine degustation is available to compliment each selection.
Address: Rikhardinkatu 4, Helsinki, Finland
Restaurant Bellevue
Price: Moderate
Cuisine: Russian
Said to be the oldest Russian restaurant outside Russia, Bellevue harks back to the days when Finland was a duchy of the Russian Empire. Just yards from the unmistakably Orthodox Uspenski Cathedral, this intimate restaurant has had 90 years to perfect its recipes for blinis (pancakes), pelmeni (dumplings), borscht (red cabbage soup) and Karelian-style solyanka (fish soup). Closed Sunday and Monday.
Address: Rahapajankatu 3, Helsinki, Finland
Ravintola Zetor
Price: Moderate
Cuisine: Finnish
An idiosyncratic, almost legendary restaurant in Helsinki that really should be experienced by everyone who visits the city. Part bar and part restaurant, Zetor features some of the most zany décor in Helsinki, with walls adorned with farm implements and tables made out of tractors. Even the menus are designed to resemble a vintage agricultural newspaper. Open daily until late, with rock and pop music to love forward to after you've eaten.
Address: Mannerheimintie 3-5, Helsinki, Finland
Havis
Price: Moderate
Cuisine: Finnish and Scandinavian
A slick modern dining concept for Helsinki, Havis offers three dining areas, each with a different focus. Although all serve Scandinavian seafood, the main dining room is elegant and traditional, while the Havis Kitchen is a fast-paced, modern bistro and the Havis Terrace feels like a Mediterranean club-café. Closed Sunday.
Address: Eteläranta 16, Helsinki, Finland
Café Ekberg
Price: Cheap
Founded in the 1850s and famed for its buns, biscuits, breakfasts and baking, Café Ekberg is a great place to start the day in Helsinki or take a break from sightseeing. Salads, sandwiches, bruschetta and soups are the order of the day at lunchtimes, while in the afternoons the on-site patisserie takes over. Open daily, early morning until early evening.
Address: Bulevardi 9, Helsinki, Finland

In this brief video you can find seven little known facts about Georgia. The capital of Georgia is Tblisi, a wonderful blend of old and new architecture. But where is Georgia? Some say it’s in Asia, but most consider it a part of Europe.
More information about the video content bellow:
1. Spoken Georgian (kartvelian) is like no other language you are likely to hear. It belongs to its own ancient linguistic group unlike any other language spoken outside the region. It includes rare sounds that many visitors may never have heard before. Georgian has its own 33-letter alphabet thought to be based on the sort of Aramaic spoken in the time of Jesus. To the untutored eye, the letters look very much alike. But even without understanding it, Georgian writing is beautiful, a myriad of theatrical swirls and flourishes.
2. Take a look at a map and you'll find the former Soviet republic 1,000km east of the Bosphorus, marooned in Asia. One definition of Europe marks the Caucasus Mountains as its border, putting Georgia firmly in Asia. Other definitions place the whole Caucasus region, including Georgia, in Europe which is where most Georgians feel it belongs.
3. Georgia isn't called Georgia by Georgians. They call their country Sakartvelo. One theory suggests that the origins of the country's name come from the Middle Ages when Christian crusaders swept through the region on their way to the Holy Land. At that time, it was part of the Persian Empire and the people here were known as "Gurj". They were also devotees of St George.
4. The little streets of Tbilisi makes you forget about Paris or Venice! Cute little alleys and streets all over the city. It definitely has its charm and you could almost say Tbilisi is the Paris of Eurasia.
5. Ever heard of Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili? Born in Gori, he became one of the most important rulers in the history of mankind. After becoming the leader of the Soviet Union, he ordered the imprisonment and execution of millions, starved Ukrainians to submission, lead his country to victory in WW2 and brought most of eastern Europe under the control of Moscow. You may know him by his Russian name: Joseph Stalin.
6. Georgia contains 2 de facto independent regions, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which gained limited international recognition after the 2008 Russo-Georgian War. Georgia and a major part of the international community consider the regions to be part of Georgia's sovereign territory under Russian military occupation.
7. Georgia launched a large-scale military operation against South Ossetia during the night of 7–8 August 2008 to "restore constitutional order" in the region. 11,000 soldiers took part in the general Georgian offensive. Russia officially sent troops across the border, claiming to be defending both peacekeepers and South Ossetian civilians. In 5 days of fighting, the Russian forces pushed back Georgian troops and largely destroyed Georgia’s military infrastructure. Russia recognised Abkhazia and South Ossetia on 26 August 2008. In response, the Georgian government cut diplomatic relations with Russia.

Why does Russia want Ukraine so bad? Greetings from Russia! Some foreigners don't understand why does Russia want Ukraine back. Maybe sometimes Russia resembles a big brother, who doesn't want to understand that his younger brother has grown up, become big, has his own point of view and want to make own decisions. Why do we do this? There are four reasons.
Why does Russia want Ukraine? Firstly, the imperial ambitions. Historically, Ukraine was a part of the Russian Empire. Looking at the independent Ukraine, some Russian politicians feel strong phantom pain. They approach the world political map and languidly whisper:
- Oh, Ukraine, my baby! Go to me, come with me! These bad Americans and Europeans will never love you like I do.
Why does Russia want Ukraine back? Second, every country wants to have a secure border. We must be friends with the neighbors. Loyal regime in Ukraine is a boon for Russia. Pro-Western government is a threat to national security. NATO military bases, missile defense, American spies, and so on.
Thirdly, there are economic relations between Russia and Ukraine. Transit of gas, machinery, military industry. All of co-operation will be destroyed, if Ukraine is oriented to the West.
Fourth, we have a common history, culture and language. Ukrainians have come to Russia to work on low-paid job. Most of them stay here. They marry, have children and become full-fledged citizens. There is no conflict on a national basis. Ukrainian labor migrants safer than guest workers from Central Asia. But if Ukraine becomes a part of the European labor market, Russia will lose quality and cheap labor from this country.
In other words, Ukraine is very important for Russia. And we will not let go this country without fighting. It's not a threat. I am not Putin. Do you want to know more about my country? Then subscribe to my channel and show this video to your friends and acquaintances. From Russia with love!

Twenty-five years after the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia seems to be on the rise once again, reasserting itself as a regional and global military power.
Looking at its intervention in eastern Ukraine and the volatile civil war in Syria, this episode of In Search of Putin's Russia sees journalist and filmmaker Andrei Nekrasov explore Russia's attempts to rebuild its standing in the world by confronting unrest at its borders and beyond.
But why is Putin so determined to involve the country in international conflicts?
Nekrasov tries to find out if the idea of annexing Crimea is one shared by the population at large and reflects a nostalgia for the glory days of Russia's past.
We meet Ukrainians who have fled to Russia, obtained citizenship and refuse to go back.
Nekrasov visits the Republic of Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim region adjacent to war-torn Chechnya which has become the most violent province in the North Caucasus.
We meet residents who have endured years of oppression, had their homes vandalised and destroyed by the state to quell dissent. Does the biggest threat to Russia's grand ambitions actually come from within?
