Virbhadra Singh on Thursday met Prime Minister
Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss issues concerning the state. The meeting came a few days after Virbhadra had announced in Shimla that he would meet Modi to discuss cases registered against him by the CBI and ED.
Virbhadra also discussed some political issues with Modi. He raised the issue of four laning of Mandi-Pathankot national highway and apprised the PM of the importance of the road from defence point of view.
He said the routre would help defence personal deployed in Leh and other border areas of the country.
He requested Modi that there was a need for intervention in this matter so that the Union ministry of road transport and highways could take up the construction work on priority basis.
Virbhadra Singh also requested him that funds under Flood Management Programme for Swan River and Chhounch Khad in Una district, which was Rs 224.35 crore and Rs 11.10 crore respectively, may be released on priority basis. He informed that reimbursement claims against the expenditure incurred by the state government have already been filed with the Ministry of Water Resources. Discussing the issue of tourism potential and importance of better connectivity, Virbhadra said the ministry of civil aviation had around three years ago discontinued commercial flights to Shimla. He said there was a need to issue a direction for resumption of service.
