Boston is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Massachusetts, officially the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. One of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston was founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan colonists from England.
The most important places to visit in Boston are: Boston Common (starting point for Freedom Trail, dating back to 1634, this central public park is loved by locals as well as visitors), Massachusetts State Building (given its gold dome, the state capital can not be missed. It is the seat of the Massachusetts government), Faneuil Hall (constructed in 1742, it has been an important meeting hall. Today there's a market that offers many places to eat and shop), Beacon Hill (a famous historical neighborhood of Boston, amidst its well preserved streets, you will feel like you've gone back in time), Granary (part of the Freedom Trail, it was built in 1660. The site is the resting place for many prominent personalities and statesmen), Trinity Church (said to be one of the greatest buildings in the country, for a special treat, attend a concert during Christmas season), Harvard University (considered to be the world's greatest academic institution, you can tour its campus to soak in the wonderful ambiance), Copley Square (many important buildings with diverse architecture styles are here. This is also the site of the Boston Marathon's finish line) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Boston travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Come to Boston to discover a city with roots in both the past and future.
Classic Boston sightseeing begins with walking the Freedom Trail for a bird’s-eye view of the American Revolution, including Boston Common and “Old Ironsides,” the USS Constitution. Stop by some of the most prestigious colleges in the nation, including Harvard and Tufts University. Continue your Boston tour with a stop at Faneuil Hall, which has served as a marketplace since 1742, and check out a variety of shops and street performers.
No trip to Boston is complete without paying homage at Fenway Park, where the Red Sox have held court for over a century. Don’t forget to fuel up with food afterward; Boston boasts a variety of restaurants, ranging from fresh seafood to classic Italian and everything in between.

Travel into the future for a preview of the Giant Magellan Telescope. This cathedral-sized telescope perched on a Chilean mountaintop will, like Star Trek's Enterprise, take us where no one has gone before. Stunning developments in optics technology will deliver images 10 times sharper than those of the Hubble Space Telescope. The Center for Astrophysics is not only a founding partner in this grand endeavor, but also is building the premier first-light instrument that will study other earths, the first stars, and the origin of our universe. Jeff McClintock is a senior astrophysicist at the CfA and a lecturer in the Harvard University Astronomy Department.

Being the first African American to summit Mount Everest, Sophia Danenberg is often asked: Was it everything you dreamed of and hoped for? Her answer may be surprising as she talks about how our hopes and dreams may in fact be limiting what we are able to do.
Sophia Danenberg didn't go on her first hike until college, but in 2006 she became the first African-American and the first black woman to climb to the summit of Mount Everest.
Sophia’s love of the mountains has taken her all over the world, from the Matterhorn in Switzerland, to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, to Ama Dablam in Nepal and to Aconcagua in Argentina.
While at sea level, she leads the international policy analysis program in environment, health and safety (EH&S;) at The Boeing Company, advising the corporation on EH&S; policy developments and interfacing with global trade associations, governments, the United Nations, OECD, APEC and other intergovernmental organization on behalf of the company and industry.
Prior to launching her career, Sophia was a researcher-writer for a travel guide in Thailand and a Fulbright Fellow in environmental economics at Keio University in Tokyo. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in environmental sciences and public policy.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Instructure (INST), a learning management software company, opened higher in its trading debut on the New York Stock Exchange Friday. Instructure will compete against industry-leader Blackboard, and already has secured high-profile companies and universities as customers including Tesla (TSLA) and Harvard University. 'We were the first learning management system technology to be in the cloud. That means we continuously innovate,' said Josh Coates, Instructure's CEO. 'We're on Amazon (AMZN) Web Services so we've got this global infrastructure in place. It's a very different approach to software than a lot of the old vendors have.' Instructure's share offering priced at $16, the low end of its expected range, but by midday the stock was trading above $17 a share. Instructure has experienced 96% customer growth year-over-year. 'K-12 school districts are starting to use more and more software because it's cloud-based, they can access it. All the universities are flipping over to cloud infrastructure now,' explained Instructure CEO Josh Coates, who added that more corporations are also using cloud-based training for employees. TheStreet's Rhonda Schaffler reports.

A global scourge, human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that traps millions of people in lives of forced labor and sexual exploitation. Political instability and extremism leave people, especially women and children, vulnerable to predation. In this Forum, anti-trafficking and human rights experts convened to discuss the public health implications of the shadowy world of trafficking. What drives and sustains the industry? How are governments, NGOs, and other agencies fighting trafficking in their communities, including in the U.S.? What interventions work? And why is this issue so important to public health?
Presented November 10, 2015 in Collaboration with PRI'S The World & WGBH.

Meditation is an approach to training the mind, similar to the way that fitness is an approach to training the body.
Benefits of meditation
If relaxation is not the goal of meditation, it is often one result of it. Back in the 1970s, Herbert Benson, MD, a researcher at Harvard University Medical School, coined the term the relaxation response after conducting research on people who practiced transcendental meditation. The relaxation response, in Benson’s words, is “an opposite, involuntary response that causes a reduction in the activity of the sympathetic nervous system.”
Since then, studies on the relaxation response have documented the following short-term benefits to the nervous system:
= lower blood pressure
= improved blood circulation
= lower heart rate
=less perspiration
=slower respiratory rate
= less anxiety
= lower blood cortisol levels
=more feelings of well-being
=less stress
=deeper relaxation

The Morning Exercises, which convene in the outdoor Tercentenary Theatre, are attended by approximately 32,000 degree candidates, family members, faculty, alumni/ae, and guests.
