“Ireland plans to decriminalize small amounts of heroin, cocaine and marijuana. If you’re keeping score, abortion remains illegal there.
An officially sanctioned shooting gallery is also coming to Dublin by early 2016, said Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, the chief of National Drugs Strategy on Monday, according to the Independent. Subsequent “supervised injecting rooms” will follow in Cork, Galway and Limerick.

Paul Ryan is your new Speaker of the House. Is he going to work with Obama better than his predecessor? Of course not. He recently laid out the fact that he’s not going to allow immigration reform and how he’s going to blame Obama for it. The fact is Paul Ryan’s owners/donors don’t want immigration reform so Paul Ryan doesn’t. The “I’m not gonna cuz Obama is untrustworthy” excuse is of course pure bullshit. "Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) refusal to work with President Obama on immigration is “preposterous,” the White House said Monday.
Press secretary Josh Earnest called Ryan’s claim that he cannot trust the president on the issue “ironic,” given he helped write bipartisan immigration reform legislation in 2013 only to stand with House GOP leaders in Congress who refused to take up a bill.
“It’s a little hard for him to make the claim that somehow the president hasn’t acted in good faith on immigration when Speaker Ryan actively thwarted a compromise he himself helped to broker,” Earnest said.
"And then for him to come back and claim it’s somebody else’s fault? It’s preposterous.”
During a round of Sunday talk show interviews,Ryan said there wouldn’t be any immigration reform legislation during the final year of Obama’s presidency. “*

Reform means to put or change into an improved form or condition; to amend or improve by change of color or removal of faults or abuses, beneficial change, more specifically, reversion to a pure original state, to repair, restore or to correct.
Reform is generally distinguished from revolution. The latter means basic or radical change; whereas reform may be no more than fine tuning, or at most redressing serious wrongs without altering the fundamentals of the system. Reform seeks to improve the system as it stands, never to overthrow it wholesale. Radicals on the other hand, seek to improve the system, but try to overthrow whether it be the government or a group of people themselves.
Rotation in office or term limits would, by contrast, be more revolutionary, in altering basic political connections between incumbents and constituents.
Developing countries may carry out a wide range of reforms to improve their living standards, often with support from international financial institutions and aid agencies. This can include reforms to macroeconomic policy, the civil service, and public financial management.

Paul Davis Ryan (born January 29, 1970) is the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district, serving since 1999. He is a member of the Republican Party, and has been ranked among the party's most influential voices on economic policy.
Born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin, Ryan graduated from Miami University in Ohio and later worked as a marketing consultant for Ryan Incorporated Central, run by a branch of his family. In the mid to late 1990s, he worked as an aide to United States Senator Bob Kasten, as legislative director for Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas, and as a speechwriter for former U.S. Representative and 1996 Republican vice presidential nominee Jack Kemp of New York. In 1998, Ryan won election to the United States House of Representatives, succeeding the two-term incumbent, fellow Republican Mark Neumann.
Ryan currently chairs the House Budget Committee, where he has played a prominent public role in drafting and promoting the Republican Party's long-term budget proposal. He introduced a plan, The Path to Prosperity, in April 2011 as an alternative to the budget proposal of President Barack Obama, and helped introduce The Path to Prosperity: A Blueprint for American Renewal in March 2012, in response to Obama's 2013 budget. Ryan is one of the three co-founders of the Young Guns Program, an electoral recruitment and campaign effort by House Republicans. He endorsed Republican presidential candidate and former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney for the 2012 United States presidential election. Ryan has been considered as a possible running mate for Romney.

Hamza Yusuf Hanson is an American Islamic scholar, and (with Zaid Shakir and Hatem Bazian) is co-founder of Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California, United States. He is a convert to Islam, and is one of the signatories of A Common Word Between Us and You, an open letter by Islamic scholars to Christian leaders, calling for peace and understanding. He has described the 9/11 attacks as "an act of 'mass murder, pure and simple'". Condemning the attacks, he has also stated "Islam was hijacked ... on that plane as an innocent victim".The Guardian newspaper in the United Kingdom reported that he "is arguably the west's most influential Islamic scholar" and added that "many Muslims find his views hard to stomach."
Hamza Yusuf was born to two academics in Washington State and raised in Northern California. In 1977, he became Muslim and subsequently traveled to the Muslim world and studied for ten years in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, as well as North and West Africa. Hamza Yusuf spent four years studying in the United Arab Emirates and elsewhere in the Middle East. Later he traveled to West Africa and studied in Mauritania, Medina, Algeria, and Morocco under such scholars as Murabit al Haaj; Baya bin Salik, head of the Islamic court in Al-'Ain, United Arab Emirates; Muhammad Shaybani, Mufti of Abu Dhabi; Hamad al-Wali; and Muhammad al-Fatrati of Al Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.[citation needed] After more than a decade abroad, he returned to the United States and earned degrees in nursing from Imperial Valley College and religious studies at San José State University.[citation needed]

An officially sanctioned shooting gallery is also coming to Dublin by early 2016, said Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, the chief of National Drugs Strategy on Monday, according to the Independent. Subsequent “supervised injecting rooms” will follow in Cork, Galway and Limerick.
In addition to changing the stigma, Ó Ríordáin’s bold suggestion is motivated by a hope that this type of policy will decrease the number of new HIV/Aids cases caused by intravenous drug use.”

"Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) refusal to work with President Obama on immigration is “preposterous,” the White House said Monday.
Press secretary Josh Earnest called Ryan’s claim that he cannot trust the president on the issue “ironic,” given he helped write bipartisan immigration reform legislation in 2013 only to stand with House GOP leaders in Congress who refused to take up a bill.

"Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) refusal to work with President Obama on immigration is “preposterous,” the White House said Monday.
Press secretary Josh Earnest called Ryan’s claim that he cannot trust the president on the issue “ironic,” given he helped write bipartisan immigration reform legislation in 2013 only to stand with House GOP leaders in Congress who refused to take up a bill.

Speaking at the union’s biennial conference in the U-S city of Orlando, Rick Jacobs called Tel Aviv’s policy towards Palestinians 'misguided'. He said the Jewish community must not remain silent when hate-crime attacks kill innocent Palestinians. Jacobs also highlighted that the reform movement is opposed to Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank. He noted that Israel has become intolerant not just of Palestinians, but also of non-Orthodox or Ethiopian Jews. The president of the "Union for Reform Judaism" however said Israel’s safety and security is a primary concern for the movement. Jacobs urged Palestinians and Israelis to calm the tensions in the occupied territories.

Professor Andrew Sheng, a Distinguished Fellow of Fung Global Institute and an INET Senior Fellow, believes China can make it, even as he acknowledges the difficulties the current leadership faces. For starters, never have so many Chinese owned (over-priced and poorly constructed) apartments. Never have Chinese citizens, governments, financial institutions and corporations accumulated so much debt. Never have the Chinese had so much invested in securities markets. China has zero experience with a multi-trillion (yuan or dollars) “shadow banking system.” Never have so many invested so much in “wealth management” vehicles and other sophisticated financial products, without a clue as to where their “money” was directed. And when it comes to corruption, China can certainly match its western counterparts, to say the least.
The Chinese – apartment owners, bankers, Internet financiers and policymakers – have never experienced the downside of a massive Credit Bubble. Never has China experienced Trillions of “money” that retains “moneyness” chiefly on the perception that the all-knowing central government will safeguard its value. Never have Chinese finance and spending had such major impacts around the world. China does, however, have a long history of financial panics and political instability. This is the challenge which its leadership has to face Sheng discusses how China is seeking to manage the delicate balancing act of liberalizing and opening up its country, whilst seeking to avert a massive uncontrollable debt deflation.
