Maori TV did not air this interview after Ansell handed the reporter two sworn affidavits detailing Allan Titford's ex-wife Sue's revelation that her father, Graham Cochrane, confessed on his deathbed to burning down the family home.
Despite knowing that her father was the arsonist, Sue testified in Court - under state protection from perjury - that Allan torched their home.
Allan Titford is serving an unprecedented 24 year jail term for crimes in which no one died - the arson and 38 other offences - whose only witnesses seem to have been family and associates of Sue's.
Titford's real 'crime' was exposing the state's persecution of him and his family to smooth the way for a Treaty claim on his Maunganui Bluff farm that he proved was historical fiction.
Used to Maori TV's trickery from three previous experiences, Ansell suspected the channel would not air any evidence favourable to Titford, so had a second cameraman cover the interview. This is what he shot.

Cannibalism, murder and rape are just a part of everyday life in certain regions of Liberia. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of this country's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. In 2009, we went to Liberia to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war.
UPDATE: Charles G. Taylor, former President of Liberia and warlord, has been convicted by an international tribunal of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape, murder, and the use of child soldiers. He is the first head of state to be found guilty by an international court since the Nuremberg trials.

Charles and Camilla were celebrated by their hosts the royal riverside residence of Kiingi Tuheitia – seen as a unifying leader of New Zealand's Maori people.
The royal couple arrived at the complex both wearing cloaks made of kiwi feathers – known as korowai – that had been given to the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in 1953.
Their arrival at the venue – called Turangawaewae Marae – was signalled by three men in a tower blowing a conch.
In front of them were 60 bare chested warriors each carrying a wooden spear traditionally used for hunting and fighting.
They came forward as one brandishing their weapons – called a Taiaha – and stamping their feet.
The haka was part of a greeting ceremony involving dancing, singing and a hongi – the traditional Maori pressing of noses welcome – between Charles and Tuheitia.
Charles then picked up a ceremonial dart that a warrior had thrown on the ground signalling his intentions were peaceful.
The future king kept his eyes on the man as he did so – as dictated by custom.
After the haka Charles and Camilla took their seats in a prime position, with Tuheitia's eldest son Whatumoana sitting next to them.
Tuheitia's royal family live at the Turangawaewae built in a picturesque setting on the banks of the river Waikato.
It has welcomed world leaders including Nelson Mandela, the Queen and other senior members of the Royal Family.
Charles' previous visit to trip to the royal residence came more than two decades ago.
Charles spoke about the trip in 1994 – when tribe of the region was due to conclude a land claim settlement with the government.
Some Maori tribes and the government came into conflict over land during the 19th century – with the biggest clash in Waikato, the Kiingi's homeland.
He said: "At the time of that visit, Waikato-Tainui, was poised to take a bold step - being the first iwi [tribe] to settle historical grievances under the Treaty of Waitangi.
"Now, as I return here more than 20 years later, I am so heartened to see and hear of all that you have grown from those new beginnings."
He went on to praise tribes across the country for "achieving something truly inspirational, not just for New Zealand but for the world".
headlines, world, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, New Zealand, Kiingi Tuheitia, haka, Maori
Kiingi Tuheitia's spokesman said the grievances were "the consequences of war when millions of acres were unjustly taken by the colonial government at the time".
He added: "The tribes that fought for the kingitanga [Maori king movement] under the flag of a kingitanga paid a terrible price in human life and the loss of fertile lands.
"Your Royal Highness, lands that you passed through this morning as you came from the Hamilton airport, lands that contribute more than 30% of this country's export wealth.
Charles, Camilla and Tuheitia and his wife Atawhai later watched as four large canoes or waka travelled across the nearby Waikato river.
The vessels – each paddled by around 20 chanting warriors – passed a marquee where the royal party was standing.
They then returned closer and the Prince and Duchess accepted their salute.

The Conversion of the Maori is the latest volume in the Studies in the History of Christian Missions series, which explores the significant, yet often contested, impact of Christian missions around the world. Timothy Yates introduces the history of missions among the Maori people of New Zealand in the mid-1800s. On the basis of painstaking archival research, Yates charts the change in society and religion over the course of nearly thirty years in detail, describing the historical development of the conversion process. The Conversion of the Maori is ecumenical and historically informed to give a balanced presentation of the conversion of a whole people.

I was attacked while photographing and videoing the nightlife on the streets of my beautiful city, Wellington, at 5:30am. Two people claiming to be Maori questioned my right to be in this country. When I refused to engage with them, one of them punched my Samsung tablet which I was holding in front of my face. This is just half the story. What the responding New Zealand police officer said and did after I called 111 while being screamed at by one of the people claiming to be Maori shocked me beyond belief. But that's another developing story.

Maori are the first inhabitants of Aotearoa – the most widely known Maori name for New Zealand, which means “the land of the long white cloud.” Their ancestors were the East Polynesian people; they were hunters, fishers and gardeners. Maoris were very diligent people, and much of their work demanded common labour. During the daytime the men went to fishing, chopping trees, making weapons, axes, paddles, ropes, building houses and canoes, etc. The women prepared food, brought firewood, wove baskets and mats, and worked in cultivations. The long and distinctive history has made them as one of the most daring and resourceful adventurers of all time. A proud spirit, warmth, quick humor, great art and a deep sense of history – these qualities are gathered in Maori culture, which was isolated from the rest of the world for a long time.

Bianca Ranson describes her journey from an education in a total immersion Maori to running an award-winning business that combines Maori culture and the natural environment. Rather than compromising who she was as a Maori woman, in an industry that didn't understand or acknowledge her culture, she started her own business in order to work in the way she needed to. With $200 in her pocket, Potiki Adventures was born.
Bianca is the founder and director of Potiki Adventures, an award-winning adventure tourism company that combines Maori culture and the New Zealand outdoors, and is also globally recognised for its work with Maori youth.
As a Maori woman Bianca did not want to compromise her beliefs and values when going to work, so starting Potiki Adventures was a way to incorporate these into her workplace. Potiki Adventures now offers employment to people in an environment that celebrates being Maori and living and working by Maori values, customs and traditions.

So we've been doing that most of our lives. All the kids here did it and enjoyed it, and of course we got a little bit of cash out of it as well. And it entertained the visitors of course, because nothing was structured here as far as tourism was concerned."

STORYLINE:
France has handed over to New Zealand authorities 20 tattooed heads of Maori ethnic people once held in several French museums as a cultural curiosity.
French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand presided over a handover ceremony on Monday at the Quai Branly museum in Paris.
"We close a terrible chapter of colonial history and we open a new chapter of friendship and mutual respect," he said.
New Zealand's embassy said it involved the single largest group of Maori heads to be repatriated.
Michelle Hippolite, the co-director of New Zealand's Te Papa Tongarewa Museum, a national art gallery in Wellington, said the heads would enable the museum to learn and understand more about Maori culture.
Since 2003, New Zealand has led an ambitious programme of collecting Maori heads and skeletal remains from museums around the world so they could be properly mourned and buried according to tradition.
France long resisted handing over such cultural artifacts, but a law passed in 2010 eventually paved the way for the return of the heads.

Visit Maori Marae and participation in Hangi Rotorua, New Zealand
In Māori usage, the marae is technically the open space in front of a wharenui or meeting house (literally "big house"). However, it is generally used to refer to the whole complex, including the buildings and the open space. An unambiguous term for the area in front of the wharenui is marae ātea. This area is used for pōwhiri - welcome ceremonies featuring oratory.

Barry Brailsford who with his massive depth of knowledge of the ancient peoples of this fantastic land fills the search with history and atmospheric tales.
Peppered throughout his book with illustrated maps, magnificent colour photographs from over dozens of people, and light-hearted story telling, SOUTHERN SERPENT is a must buy sequel (or prequel for that matter) to the SUN and the SERPENT; the equivalent journey in the northern hemisphere.
If coming to New Zealand, or simply interested in understanding more about natural earth energies and how one's consciousness can actively interact within sacred space, you can't do better than to purchase SOUTHERN SERPENT. Some of the many sacred sites touched on are Tokatoka, Castlehill, Temple of the Four Winds, Kaimanawa Wall, Navigator Rock, and Punakaiki.

In Māori society, the marae is a place where the culture can be celebrated, where the Māori language can be spoken, where intertribal obligations can be met, where customs can be explored and debated and where important ceremonies, such as welcoming visitors. Like the related institutions of old Polynesia, the marae is a wāhi tapu, a 'sacred place' which carries great cultural meaning.
It was quite a happening. First they taught us some Maori words, like Kia Ora, Hangi, Hongi. After the ceremonial dance and welcome part was finished we had a walk through the village, after that we could see how the meal for the hangi was cooked. Then we had a dance performance from the Maori people. After that we were invited to the Maori dinner/hangi. It was very well cooked and also very good.

'MANA MOANA' - FULL MOVIE! Made in Northland, New Zealand, 2014, this mid-length film (37min) follows the journey of young Maud McGarry on her quest from Scotland to New Zealand to find her long lost Uncle Harry, The Sailor who jumped ship to marry his Maori Sweetheart. 'Mana Moana' (Power of the Sea) is an ultra low budget ($900), non dialogue production including original music. The making of 'Mana Moana' was a rewarding challenge to convey a Universal story using only visuals and soundtrack with a cast drawn entirely from locals of Ipipri, Bay of Islands, Northland. This film was never intended as a commercial venture, but rather a creative homage to the Oceans and Maori people. In the absence of financial support for Film Festival Fees and additional editing, we are now delighted to freely share 'Mana Moana'. Filmmaker & Original Story: Linda McGuire / Cinematographer: Adam Hogg
