This video will provde you with very useful information about grammar translation method.
The Purpose of Grammar-Translation Method
The Grammar-Translation Method was called the Classical Method and it has been used by language teachers for many years. This Method has some purposes:
Helping students read and appreciate foreign language literature
Students would become more familiar with the grammar of the target language and this familiarity would help them speak and write their target language better
Students would help to grow intellectually.
The Goals of Grammar-Translation method
The students are to be able to read literature written in target language
The students know about the grammar rules and vocabulary of the target language
Provide the students with good mental exercises which helps develop their minds.
The Way of Teaching Grammar-Translation Method
A.Translation of a Literary Passage
The students translate a reading passage from the target language into their native language. This way will help them to understand the meaning.
Step 1 :Each student is called on to read a few lines from the passage
Step 2 :They are asked to translate into their native language the few lines they have just read
Step 3 :The teacher helps them with new vocabulary items by giving them the opportunity for asking if they have some difficult vocabularies.
B.Reading Comprehension Questions
The students answer the questions in the target language based on their understanding of the reading passage.
Step 1 :The teacher asks to write the answer to the comprehension questions which appear at the end of the text in English. Then after one-half hour,
Step 2 :The teacher asks the students to stop and check their work. One by one, each student reads a question and reads his/her response. If it's correct, the teacher calls on another student to read the next question. If the answer is incorrect, the teacher selects a different student to supply the correct answer,or the teacher himself/herself gives the right answer.
C.Antonyms/Synonyms
Step 1 :The teacher asks the students to give the opposite/similarity of the words given
Step 2 :The teacher asks the students to find out the opposite/similarity in the text.
D.Cognates
The students are taught to recognize cognates by learning the spelling or sound patterns that correspond between the languages.Students are also asked to memorize words that look like cognates but have different meaning.
E.Deductive Application Rule
Grammar rules are presented with examples.
Step 1 :The teacher explains the grammar rules by giving examples
Step 2 :The teacher asks each student to make some sentences using the grammar rules.
F.Fill-in-the-blanks
Step 1 :The teacher gives a series of sentences with words missing
Step 2 :The students fill in the blanks with new vocabulary items/items of a particular grammar type.
G.Memorization
Step 1 :The students are given lists of target language vocabulary words and their native language equivalents
Step 2 :The teacher asks them to memorize the words and also required to memorize grammatical rules.
H.Use Words in Sentences
The students make up sentences in which they use the new words so that they understand the meaning.

Here’s what Sachin posted on one of my blog articles:
“Robby in my school/ college days I was hopeless in my language skills, my native language, 2nd language (Hindi) and English... all of them.
I had flunk in last two languages 2-3 times and could barely manage to cross 40% in my native language (35% was passing).
During that time I was told to read Editorial of English newspaper and mark difficult words from it, practice it and you will be fluent in English...:=O
I did that religiously for a long period of time, hoping that at some point God will see may efforts and will have mercy on me and turn on the language button which was in off mode since birth.
Honestly I was waiting for miracle to happen but nothing happened for long time...:'(
I had a big file of those editorials and word power. I never heard those words in my daily life....and finally few years ago I burned those files to ashes... :D”
Now, I totally agree with you Sachin – you’re much better off having burned those files because that’s completely the wrong way to achieve English fluency!

RGV even targeted few Telugu actors for donating less amount for Chennai victims and he even addressed Telugu actors in their native language, to make his point clear.
It can be noted that Rajinikanth on Wednesday, Dec 2, donated Rs 10 lakh to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. In an apparent dig at the Tamil superstar, RGV mentioned the donations contributed by young stars like Suriya (Rs 25 lakh), Allu Arjun (Rs 25 lakh), Junior NTR (Rs 10 lakh) and Vishal (Rs 10 lakh), while comparing iconic star's small amount donation for his beloved people of Chennai.

Start speaking fluent English confidently - http://www.englishanyone.com/speak-fluent-english-confidently-in-6-months-ea9/
Did you know that there’s just 1 simple trick to becoming a fluent English speaker?
Just 1 thing you must change about the way you learn to…
Have your words came out naturally and automatically – without hesitation – as if English were your first language, every time you speak…
Express your exact thoughts spontaneously, continuously and in detail, without being forced to change what you want to say – or only speak in simple sentences – because you can’t find the right words…
Understand everything you hear in English movies, TV shows, music and conversations, and finally speak confidently – without ever feeling nervous or worried about mistakes – with the smooth pronunciation of a native speaker…
And best of all, this 1 easy change in the way you learn will help you experience immediate improvement in your spoken English so you’ll finally be certain that you’re learning the right way.
But before I reveal this trick, I’d like you to know why so many English learners have problems with their English and struggle to become fluent Speakers…
Why do so many English learners often use words that sound unnatural in conversations?
What’s the reason they often have to think about what grammar rules to use before speaking?
What stops them from speaking smoothly and clearly?
The answer to all of these questions is, in 3 words…
How They Learn
You see, traditional language learning methods only give English learners part of the fluency puzzle…
Lessons teach them grammar rules, but not how to use grammar without thinking when they speak.
Students learn English through their own language, so they’re trained to hesitate and translate in their heads during conversations.
They learn to read and write the formal English of textbooks, but get very little training listening to – and speaking – casual, conversational, spoken English.
So, what is the 1 simple trick to becoming a successful English speaker?
It’s to learn English like native speakers.
Fluency is nothing more than a collection of habits, like using grammar without thinking, or pronouncing words correctly. So, all you need to do to develop the same habits native speakers have is to learn the same way native speakers learn…
When you learn English like native speakers, you master grammar automatically – without grammar tables and boring drills – through visual examples and stories.
Building fluency like a native speaker means you also learn slang, idioms, phrasal verbs and other conversational, spoken English expressions, in addition to what’s appropriate for writing.
Learning English the native way means you learn to speak fluent English naturally, actually practicing with native English speakers and building speaking confidence in the real world.
When you learn this way, it’s easy, fun, fast and doesn’t feel like studying at all, just like how you learned your own native language…
Now that you know that you must change the way you learn if you want to get fluent – because the traditional methods you’ve been using until now have not helped you become a confident speaker – how can you start developing the habits of a native English speaker so you can start speaking fluent English confidently?
With EnglishAnyone.com's English Fluency Training Video Course: Master English Conversation 2.0.
Master English Conversation 2.0 was designed by learners for learners with everything you need to finally…
