The Maratha (IPA: [ˈməraʈa];, archaically transliterated as Marhatta or Mahratta) are an Indian caste, found predominantly in the state of Maharashtra. The term Marāthā has three related usages: within the Marathi speaking region it describes the dominant Maratha caste; outside Maharashtra it can refer to the entire regional population of Marathi-speaking people; historically, it describes the Maratha Empire founded by Shivaji in the seventeenth century and continued by his successors, which included many castes.
They primarily reside in the Indian states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Goa. Those in Goa and neighbouring Karwar are known specifically as Konkan Marathas as an affiliation to their regional and linguistic alignment. The Dhangar Ahirs of Indore call themselves as Marathas.
The word Maratha is used for Kshatriya caste belonging to Maharashtra. The Marathas .
The modern Marathi language developed from the Prakrit known as Mahārāshtri;[citation needed] the words Maratha and Marathi may be a derivative of the Prakrit word Marhatta found in Jain Maharashtri literature, itself from Sanskrit Maharāṣhṭra. The etymology of the words "Maharashtra" is uncertain; the various theories include:
Shail Sturm is an Indian playback singer born and brought up in Rajasthan.
Shail has got his initial training in Hindustani Classical music from renowned vocalist and his father Shri Jaswant Singh Hada.He studies in St. Pauls Mala road, Kota. Later on, he went on do his M.A. in Music from Kota University and Sangeet Visharad from Gandharava Mahavidyalya under the guidance of his guru Pt.Aaskaran Sharma. After coming to Mumbai, he joined department of music, Mumbai University where he won six gold medals at various national competitions.
Shail began his career by singing background vocals for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. Since then he is associated with Bhansali in every film that he has directed. He got more fame musically in Bhansali's next directorial Saawariya which went on to become among the best musical albums of 2007.shail is a versatile singer.In this same movie, Shail has worked as an assistant to the composer Monty Sharma. The Saawariya album gave the music industry a new voice that had the capability to hit the high notes and as well do the yodeling.
