Former Macquarie Group chief executive Allan Moss has been appointed toย the Reserve Bank Board, Treasurer Scott Morrison said on Tuesday.ย 

Mr Moss, who led Macquarie for 15 years before retiring in May 2008,ย will take up the seat held by former Fairfax Media chairman Roger Corbett whoseย 10-year stint on the central bank board ended on December 1.

Mr Moss currently works at investment firmsย Anchorage Capital Partners andย Evans and Partners.

Mr Morrison also announced that Catherine Tanna's term on theย Reserve Bank Board has been extendedย another five years to 2021 beyond the original end date of March 29 next year.ย Former Paul Keating adviser John Edwards' five-year term on the bank board runs out on July 30.

Ms Tanna is currently Managing Director of Energy Australia and has previously worked at QGC, BG Group plc Australia and Shell Gas & Power.

"Iย congratulateย Mr Moss and Ms Tanna on their appointments and also thank Mr Roger Corbett AO for his valuable contributions over 10 years to the deliberations of the Reserve Bank Board," the Treasurer said in a statement.
